My husband and I bought a used truck from this dealership on 4/17 for $6,642. The truck is a 2008 Ford150. We test drove the car around the block, as we could not go much further since there was barely any gas in the vehicle. The truck did not have any check engine lights on at the time. When speaking with the owner, he had stated that the truck was not in any accidents, and that the truck was fully inspected by his mechanic, and showed us that there were no issues with the truck at all. Unfortunately, we believed him. My husband drove the car home, and within about an hour, the check engine light came on, and the truck completely turned off while driving. We were able to get the truck into a mechanic to have it looked over the following week. It was then that we learned that the fuel tank is completely broken and would need to be repaired. The mechanic shop let us know that particular part is no longer manufactured for that truck, and would not be able to be fixed, and therefore we cannot use the truck, and were scammed out of our money. We contacted Gene, and he stated to us, that, the mechanic was wrong, and we did not use his mechanic, so therefore, any mechanic place we went to, would just break parts. This is not the case, seeing as we used a reliable business, and cannot break something that has already been broken. This is complete fraud by the owner. Providing false documents stating the car has no mechanical issues. We wanted to return this vehicle, and were told we could not. It is understanding that vehicles can be sold as is, however, to fraudulently state and show documentation that there are no mechanical issues is unethical to say the least, and completely scamming a customer out of their money. We would like for our money to be returned, seeing as this vehicle is not drivable, is not able to be fixed. I cannot say enough how devastating this is, and cannot believe a company as fraudulent as them, is in business.

    Better Business Bureau:

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID ********, and have determined that this does not resolve my complaint.  For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below.

As noted the vehicle was sold as is, however, the check engine light was not on during inspection.  Documents were shown to us that their mechanic had inspected the vehicle and there were no issues, however, that was not the case.  The check engine appeared shortly after purchase, since we live 30 minutes away from the dealership, the light did not go on until after we had arrived back home.  We only test drove the car around the block, because there was no gas in the tank to drive any further, nor, did they put any additional gas in the tank after purchase.  If it had been known that there were issues with the truck, and the check engine light was on, we would not have purchased the vehicle.  We were under the assumption that is is an older truck, but mechanically it is fine, as in, no issues present, the truck would be viable, and would also pass an echeck.  The mechanic we brought the truck too, did not, break any parts on the truck.  He went to replace the parts that needed to be fixed on the truck, such as the 02 sensor, fuel pump, etc, and at that time, it was discovered the that housing unit was completely broken and rusted out, and was not able to be fixed, since the parts are no longer manufactured for that vehicle.  Had we known the truck had any mechanical issues, we would have like to have been told this, rather, than them, just disconnecting the battery to remove the check engine light from showing up while we test drove the truck around the block.  The issues that we were wrong with the truck, would have been something the dealership would have known, seeing, as those errors and check engine light are not just going to appear out of nowhere.  It was hidden from us, and provided information to make the truck seem better than what it was, in order for the sale to be made.  Again, had we known this issues existed, and not provided false information, we would not have bought the truck.  We are not here to waste $6,000 on a vehicle that we are not even able to drive.  We took it to our local mechanic, as mentioned, because we are a 30 minute drive away from the dealership.  When we did call, we were told that the truck was broken by our mechanic because we went to someone else other than their own, and that, if we wanted it fixed, we would have to take it there, and pay for the services.  The truck already had to be towed to our local mechanic, and again, they did not break anything.  We wanted a refund when we called the dealership, and return the vehicle to them.  As we would not have purchased something that was broken of that nature, and not for the price we paid either.

    Regards,
