Our experience with MI homes has been a disaster. Our fixes on a brand new build should not have ever been needed fixes in the first place. They’re a result of sloppy building. We have given 21 days of work to this company for day long projects they had to start for fixes on our house. These include: 5 racked (crooked) windows that leaked water into the interior walls which caused them to mold from the interior out. They had to cut out the drywall, treat the mold in the walls, replace the drywall and rebalance all 5 windows. Our master bathroom had to be torn out and replaced because the bullnose on all our tile peeled off. The grout within the tiles also cracked and popped out, leaving tiles loose. Upon review by the company it all had to be redone which was a huge mess. The front of our house was bare wood covered with siding. Portions of it were never wrapped in Tyvek paper when it was initially built. This allowed drafts of wind to go directly to the drywall and my children’s front two bedroom walls froze over 2 winters straight. Ice crystals formed on the interior walls. This had to be fixed and insulated. Our front porch was never rebarred to our house so it settled, and fell forward created a huge gap between the house and porch. This had to be jackhammered and repoured. We spoke to the company and asked for compensation for time lost at work and we were told, “when owning a new home and service is needed, the homeowner will need to meet the contractor or provide access to our customer care team. The choice is left up to the customer to choose their preferred method of warranty work.” In my opinion, with a new build this should never have been time needed away from work. My time and headache, and cooperation for their negligence was not taken into consideration and these were our allotted days at work we lost and had to give to them.
Message me for pictures if you’d like to see any of this.

I would give 0 stars if possible. Poor workmanship and materials. They fight over every warranty request, even when home inspectors and third party professionals have confirmed that the work was not done right. When they finally agree to a fix, they do something wrong that requires another fight to get the new mess fixed. The level of incompetence is mind-boggling. There isn't enough room in this box to list all of the things that were wrong with my "new" home. Very poor customer service, which matches the workmanship and materials. I'm very disappointed and wouldn't recommend an M/I home to anyone.

MI Homes has repeatedly denied structural issue even though Home inspection report mentioned that concrete slab underneath wooden flooring at two places may be cracking. The gap runs from one end of the house to other end exposing the ground. Two people in the last 2 years came from MI inspected and say its contraction / expansion which is quite normal even though we mentioned that it has widened the gap compared to last year. The customer care person who visited our house was very rude on phone and warned us not to ask questions, so we let him finish and immediately hung up without taking any of the questions. I have asked him to send an email stating that its not a structural damage and he never sent one. I think MI Homes customer care should learn to treat customers with respect and convey things properly in writing.

Poor quality and even worse when it comes to detail. Had house prewired for technology and audio/video. Found out the drywallers covered up the main box and never cut it out of the wall. Dishwasher and it was bent and mangled inside. They didn't run drain pipe from humidifier and had water all over the hallway floor. Was to have trey ceiling in master bedroom and they forgot to do the trey ceiling, had to redo it. Legs on kitchen island were uneven and had to be redone 3 times to get it right. The cement work on front porch was pitiful. Had chips and pieces broken because when the poured it they left wood propped against it too long. Am now in the house 1 1/2 years and the ceilings are cracking. Anyone who considers building an M/I Home should have their head examined.

The entire process from start to finish was a mess. The building sites are an unsafe mess, with evidence of drinking on the job by contractors. The customer care is equally disappointing, from the final walk through and even after we had multiple warranty issues ( due to poor construction) we were constantly reminded to rate them a 10 on internal surveys. After the year warranty is up you can forget about anymore service even when reputable contractors provide proof of poor quality work and required repairs.
The response from the “custom care agent” via text was considered a conversation and the email of denial was full of misspelled words. No one even looked at the estimate or the issue and denied the claim. Unfortunate and disappointing!

I had a house built in ******** ** and they are the worse builders. They do not build the house the way you want it and then trying to get them out to repair anything they give excuses why they cannot get to it. Dont believe any time frame they give you, I was supposed to close and 2 weeks before closing they call and tell me it will be another month. It doesnt matter who you talk to everyone of them give nothing but excuses on why they cannot hold up to what they promised from day one. STAY AWAY DO NOT GET **** INTO THERE LIES AND FALSE PROMISES. THEY WILL NOT DELIVER ON ANYTHING.

MI Homes is the worst builders, I have seen so far, They lacks ethics and respect to its clients. They use poor quality. They promise a lot and do nothing. Very rude employees and managers. They handles their projects very improper as evidenced by multiple issue. They have very poor home design and lot of design flaws in house planning. They take months for small repairs and after months they say they can't do anything. I would suggest every one to stay away from this company for your own piece of mind. **STAY AWAY FROM MI HOMES**

MI Homes lacks ethics and respect to its clients. It poorly handles their projects as evidenced by multiple serious structural and finishing repairs required post closing on their new homes. Repairs takes months if not an year ********** and often in time has be redone. There is no compensation for your frustration and burden to your family, due to poor craftsmanship repair. I would encourage anyone to refrain from ANY business dealing with this company. It's all about productivity and no quality at all. **STAY AWAY FROM MI HOMES**
