I was almost interested in switching schools from my current institution to Franklin University, but ultimately worked things out at my current college to finish my degree, as they successfully resolved my concerns and issues. I applied and have since told the admissions email [email protected], and address Dom F************** to CANCEL the application, to NOT ORDER any Transcripts and to DELETE my information. It is now several days since I have been emailing them daily, demanding them to cancel my application, but instead I am just ghosted. I additionally, reached out to Marshia B**** and sent more than 3 emails to CANCEL the damn application and delete my information. I receive a daily email, and every day I do, I HAVE NOT received any response. This shows how unprofessional this institution is, and how spiteful they are. I warned them that if this issue was not resolved by the end of the week, I would go to to the BBB and I will also file a complaint against them with the Pennsylvania Department of Education (SARA) and the Ohio Department of Education next. But I am starting off with the BBB first. Please contact them, and tell them what I have been ordering to them that they are NOT doing. They are incredibly immature and childish in their behavior. Just because I'm NOT interested in them, they're NOT completing my request. Even DeVry University, a for profit-school, does a better job than they have done. That's absolutely pathetic! I want them to contact me, via email once the application is closed and my information is deleted.

Attended Franklin for several semesters prior to being presented with a participation is proctor exams. From my understanding this is biometrics software company that records/collects facial recognition and movements to detect potential cheating. After further research of the topic I found that they have experienced a data breach, rarely provide any information how they plan to store or use your data. When I refuse the exam, it was suggested that I drop myself from the institution…I also read from another bbb reviewer that they are not properly accredited for tuition reimbursement.

    Franklin University Response

    05/30/2023

Franklin University received a copy of your recent review with the Better Business Bureau. Thank you for bringing this concern to our attention. Franklin University takes all feedback seriously and works diligently to ensure that such concerns are resolved in a timely and complete fashion. In your review, you stated that you encountered a course in which proctored exams were required. You noted that, after expressing concern about a data breach with Franklin’s online test proctor provider, you “refused the exam” and that “it was suggested that [you] drop [yourself] from the institution.” Proctored tests are an important component of the assessment of student learning in some courses at Franklin University. Students may not refuse to complete proctored examinations in these courses and are required to earn a passing grade. When proctored examinations are required within a course, students can choose from multiple options for how these examinations may be proctored. These options are outlined in the Franklin University course within Canvas, our learning management system, under the section titled “Student Proctored Exams.” Proctoring options include: • The Franklin University Testing Center, on campus, in the Learning Commons, for those in the central Ohio area. • ProctorU, an online proctoring service, can be used by any Franklin student for any proctored exam. • If a student does not live within 30 minutes of the Franklin University Testing Center, they may look into the following in-person proctor options in their area, in this order: 1. National College Testing Association Test Centers 2. Professional, military, or local university testing centers 3. Local librarians, who work for libraries that offer proctoring services (where students can be monitored throughout entire test) 4. HR Professionals, who do not directly supervise the student and are employed at the same company 5. K-12 administrator (guidance counselor or principal). A teacher may be approved in certain circumstances 6. For students in the military, Higher Ranking Officers who are not a direct supervisor are acceptable Upon receipt of your concern, a comprehensive review of all communication with you within our systems was conducted on May 24, 2023. An email was sent to your Franklin University email account on May 9, 2023, regarding a change in how ProctorU, our online proctoring service, is accessed. This email also noted that students may opt to submit a Distance Proctor for approval if desired, and directed you to the information within your course in Canvas under "Student Proctored Exams." In addition, an email from your instructor on May 19, 2023, clarified “you do not need to go to a testing site, that’s just one option.” No evidence was found during this review of the suggestion that you should “drop [yourself] from the institution.” Should you wish to further discuss re-enrollment, options for proctored tests, and/or course scheduling options, please contact undergraduate academic advising at [email protected]. Your BBB review also mentioned a concern that Franklin is “not properly accredited for tuition reimbursement.” There is no known accreditation process for tuition reimbursement. The BBB review you may be referencing inquired about specialized accreditation related to an academic program; this is unrelated to tuition reimbursement. As a result of reviewing your report, it is the position of Franklin University that the university behaved in accordance to University policy and procedure, and will not take any further action with this report. Franklin University does not discriminate on the basis of age, religion, race, ethnicity, color, national origin, ancestry, immigration status, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity or expression, marital or familial status, disability, or veteran or military status.
