January 19, 2024 I dropped off my car to Campus Auto.
January 22 **** called to tell me the repairs he thought were needed and gave me a quote of $3400. He said if he had $2500 up front that he could get the parts ordered and have my car to me by the following day.

I dropped off $2500 in cash in the morning. I was not contacted about my car nor was I able to call the shop as the phone lines were not working. On Friday January 26th I was contacted by ****** wife ****** that the car would be done around 9pm. At 9pm I arrived with a friend and waited until 11:15pm when **** came out and said the car is messed up and he can't figure it out. This was the last time I saw my car.

Wednesday Jan 31 I inquired again about my car (via text) and **** said it was a different repair.
February 5th I inquired again via text with no answer
February 6th I inquired again via text and told him I need my car back and an itemized receipt. His response is "I'm trying"
February 12th I texted again that I need my car back and an itemized receipt and he did not answer.

I have driven past the shop several times and my car is not outside. There is also a "public notice" posted on the door that he had his vendor license revoked. I have been in contact with an attorney to help me negotiate and the attorney can't get ahold of **** either.

I would like my car put outside so it can be towed and my $2500 returned, as there is no proof that he's done any work on the car nor bought any parts. This whole situation has caused huge distress on my family as this man is holding on to our car and also has a large chunk of my money.

**** at Campus Auto still has possession of my car and will not answer any phone numbers that have been provided to retrieve my vehicle.  I have called and texted countless times with no response.  I need my car!!!  He is holding on to my property.

Our 2006 VW Jetta TDI needed timing belt service, HVAC service, and some oil leaks repaired.

On 10/09/2023 Campus Auto agreed to fix our car and return it in several days. Then we were strung along for weeks with multiple broken promises to finish by a certain date.

We received the car back on 11/02/2023, three weeks later than promised.

The HVAC portion of the repair was not done. The other repairs were not completed properly, e.g. he did not properly tighten the bolts for the motor mount subframe and the air filter was not replaced. Instead the filter box was left empty.

Not tightening the motor mount bolts led to breaking 2 of 3 castings holes where the bolts thread-in to attach the subframe to the engine.

My daughter noted a "bad noise" when she traveled 300 miles to attend Thanksgiving dinner. The engine was hanging by one remaining loose bolt and the engine dropped several inches, leaving the car undriveable.

When we notified **** about the damaged car, he promised to drive out from Ohio to Indiana with a trailer to take it to his shop to correct his mistakes.

He did not show up on the day he had agreed to drive out, inconveniencing my brother. We expressed concerns around his willingness to properly fix the car.

**** asked if we had ever received a car back from a mechanic damaged before. Apparently **** feels this is typical and acceptable. He also added that an air filter was not necessary.

**** said he knew people that were interested in purchasing the car as-is, so we offered to sell it. We asked him for $5,000 to cover about $2361 for the cost of the botched repairs and a deeply discounted $2639 for the car.

**** did not like this price and said he was done talking to us and that we would have to take him to court. He added that he had been taken to court by disgruntled customers many times and they never won.

Nice sentiment from **** - my customers never win against me in court. We have not heard from him since and the car is still disabled.
