1 starThis bank has caused multiple issues for me, including not returning funds that were due to me and many other issues that should not happen at a bank ever.
I went into Key Bank to open a new account and give them a check for thousands of dollars to open said account, inspired by an offer I received in the mail to get $800 for a new account. What seemed like a somewhat easy process (although time-consuming) I was set-up with my new account. I was in the process of transferring money from my savings to my checking account with my old bank (which I made sure to tell them about while I was at the bank) to ensure the money would be there for them, but they pulled the money just a few minutes too early. So, I went into the bank the next day to explain, ask them to re-deposit the check (or I could write a new one) and sat in the manager's office while he tried to fix everything...which basically consisted of me sitting there while he was on hold with an 800 number that I probably could have called myself. He told me that I had 2 options: option #1 fill out a form and get it notarized but they didn't have a notary on staff, so I would have to go find one then come back Monday because they were about to close, or option #2 do nothing. So, of course, I chose option #2 and now they are trying to accuse me of "fraud" which is preposterous because how is it even possible to commit fraud on my own self? The check was from ME to ME. I spoke with a representative on the phone who told me that the manager who told me I had 2 options, was INCORRECT! I only had the one option and apparently, I should have had the document notarized in order to avoid this. Wish I would have just called that 800 number myself to begin with instead of letting the manager call them and then tell me what they said, since he did not tell me the correct information! That is just ONE of the bad experiences I have had with this particular Key Bank branch, I will write another review about that experience too.Review fromDiana M

1 starLet's have a conversation regarding Key Bank. So, let me explain my latest daunting attempt to reason with a bank whose sole priority is causing their customers nothing but grief, falsehoods, and outright lies through meaningless rhetorical language and mental manipulation that goes nowhere. They do this so they can continue to rip you off. Here's an example: On May 1st, I had $143.91 in my checking account. *** **** ******* randomly debits my account for $202.28, which puts my account in the negative. I call Key Bank and issue a fraud alert because I did not authorize that purchase on my credit card. Plus, I call *** **** ******** *** **** ********agrees to refund the $134.85 because I told them I would pay them $67.43 for the inconvenience of coming out. So, they refund the $134.85. On top of that, Key Bank issues a $202.28 provisional fraud credit. Okay, so on May 9th, I go and withdraw $143.00, bearing in mind that I originally had $143.91 in my account. Key Bank, on May 15th, issues a reversal under the title of *** **** ******** But I call *** **** ********a second time, and they say no, they did not do this. So now, Key Bank's Customer Service goes into their full-blown mumbo jumbo nonsense to confuse the customer by saying, "Well, we took the money back plus put your account in a negative status of $133.94. Why?" I ask. They reply, "Because we issued the provisional credit." Okay, I said, but it was never used, plus *** gave most of the original money back. I only withdrew what was rightfully mine. Between constant hang-ups by Key Bank and also the perpetual nonsense about what amount I am referencing when speaking with the rep when clearly, it's the only amount showing up in the checking. Absolutely outrageous. Do not do business with this bank. I have already reached out to Consumer Protection and filed complaints. Next, I will reach out again with proof from *** **** ********regarding credits back to the account with noReview fromSteph K

1 starI'be been with KeyBank for about 10 years, never really had an issue until April of this year. I tried to dispute a transaction that I did not make, also never received a fraud alert text which I normally would have gotten. I disputed it and the fraud department put a hold on that account, mind you I had to open a new one and had 3 others which happen to be my children's accounts. I had gone to order food while I was at work and that's when I found out they went and locked me out of ALL accounts including my new one and locked me out of logging into the app. I've been having to go and drive a half hr every time I need to withdraw money so I can attempt to pay my bills which I now have to pay extra because they're now being paid by money order. The fraud department told the branch 90 days, I have 3 children I'm a single mother and have bills to pay but like they said, it's not their problem right? I contacted the BBB and received an email that they can't help me because the bank choose NOT to provide any info. To this day I'm still unable to access my money unless I drive 30 minutes one way to have them call fraud while I sit there feeling like I'm being treated as a child as I have to get permission to access my hard earned money.
Honestly, after being with this bank for 10 plus years I now see that this bank is absolutely horrible and I do NOT recommend.
Keeping a single mother that works full time, has 3 children, and bills to pay is something someone with no heart would do and doesn't even deserve the one star I HAD to select or I couldn't' submit this complaint.Review fromChristopher R

1 starSo about 3 months back I had tried to buy tickets to a light show that were time sensitive from a Facebook ad. The time on the tickets was incorrect and was showing a past time instead of the date and time I chose. On the site I bought them from there were no contact methods listed so I immediately called my bank (KeyBank) and asked if they could help me get it straightened out since it didn’t seem there was a way to contact them. I explained the situation and the for on the phone said I would be able to dispute it since services weren’t rendered. I wake up this morning about 90 days later to see that KeyBank had taken the money out of my account, I immediately called to see what the deal was and a different girl said the that an investigation led them to take it back so I asked for a superior and explained the situation for a third time at which point manager of the dispute, ********, told me why do you just try going to fever.com. So I did and a bunch of porn pops up on my phone while I’m at work nearly getting me fired. When I saw that I was extremely pissed and asked for his manager because this could be considered sexual harassment. After getting nowhere with that “stalwart employee” I call up KeyBank headquarters to let them know how much of a shitshow they were running and that I may seek litigation for this matter. I get a call back from the fraud department about 2 hours later at which point the fraud guy, John told me that it is possible to reach out to the light show place and told me I’d have to call and get some form saying that it was an error and that what I was saying was true. It would have been nice to get some notification of this in advance since I am now scrambling to get this form and waiting on the company to actually do it, not expecting a large chunk of money to be missing with no notice. 2 more hours later I get a call from the “executive offices” of KeyBank and some half hearted apology for being directed to a porn site, with no solution.Review fromScott A

1 starI've been with Key Bank for 8 years as a small business owner. I own a farmer's market. I have over 80 rotating vendors at my market. Which doesn't make me a large company, but I do what I can to provide for the community. And help out other small businesses that being said, Key Bank Has done nothing for me in over the 8 years. I've been a customer. There's been problems left and right as of lately, and the the branch manager tells you he's going to do one thing. And he doesn't do it very poor and now I have my business account. My personal account all messed up. Stay away, do business with any other bankingReview fromAli C

1 starOne of the worst banks to ever work with. I fully understand now why the reviews are so poor. Money is deposited and sits in hold for over 5 business days, where they charge overdraft fees based off of their holds that they refuse to resolve. I called a branch off of US 31 and she tried to assist by telling me to Zelle payments to avoid the hold or deposit cash, and still was charged 2 $20 fees. I called corporate and they also still would not assist. I will be closing this account and would never recommend Key Bank to anyone in the future.Review fromStephen S

1 starManager Tony shared information about my account with someone NOT on my account. When I called with questions he promised a callback within 2 hours, twice and both times never got a call. Called customer support to file a complaint, she called him and told him I was filing a complaint. Still no response from him. How do you text with someone NOT on an account? No privacy?Review fromBarbara O.

1 starStay away from this bank. Constant problems with my account. Allowed money to be withdrawn when access to the account had been stopped on more than one occasion. Impossible to try and file complaint because they are always unable to understand what you are telling them. Horrible bank
