My partner and I found an apartment for rent by this company that was listed as a 745sq ft 1 bedroom for $750. When I filled out the application for the apartment we got a lease to sign that said it was $775. After explaining that that wasnt what the listing on Trulia said, the landlord, *****, said that THEIR website said the price was $775. Later my partner did measurements of the apartment and found several structural issues: six of the seven windows were inoperable, there was loose wiring under the kitchen sink, and unfinished plaster in the bathroom. After sending an email out complete with pictures to address the issues, the landlord basically told us he was only going to deal with the plaster. The most glaring incident was when we discovered that the unit only measures to 543, thats a 200 sq ft margin of error. Wed had enough and requested to terminate the lease and have our deposit refunded because our lease hasnt started. We havent moved in, we dont even have keys. During a phone call ***** said he wouldnt return our deposit because the lease says its non refundable (it doesnt, we checked and downloaded it so they cant alter it.) Then he hung up on me and proceeded to block my partner and Is phone calls. This is unacceptable.

The size of the unit is determined by the ********************************* web site. They completed rental applications and were accepted, signed a 12 month lease, paid the Hold Deposit, we stopped marketing the property expecting them to move in, and then they decided they did not want to move in. The lease says it is a legally binding agreement. We have talked on the phone with them & texted & emailed them trying to explain.
