On March 25, 2024, the business entered into a Final Entry and Order Granting Judgment with the Hamilton County Court of Common Pleas, Ohio. The Order settles allegations that the business, operating under the names Queen City Appliance, A Plus Appliance Repair, and Certified Appliance Repair, violated the Ohio Consumer Sales Practices Act (CSPA) by engaging in unfair and deceptive acts, including accepting payments without delivering goods or services within eight weeks, failing to provide refunds, performing substandard repair work, and failing to register trade names with the Ohio Secretary of State.
Under terms of the Order, the business and its owners, Terry D. Haynes and Amy R. Garcia, were permanently enjoined from engaging in consumer transactions as suppliers in Ohio until they satisfy all monetary obligations ordered by the Court. They were also ordered to pay $5,474.05 in consumer restitution and civil penalties totaling $40,000 ($25,000 for Haynes and $15,000 for Garcia), as well as court costs and statutory collection costs.
