    I hired him via ********* to do repairs on my home. Specifically, I was getting insulation added to 2 rooms of my home, which entailed making new framing against the exterior walls of the room, adding insulation and drywall. He harassed me for a month to send him money for a deposit for this project we discussed. I was given a quote of $2300 to complete the project. I signed a contract which stated the work will be started after deposit of 1/3 of the cost. I sent him $850. He came the next day and demolished my living room. Removing all baseboards and wall casing, and all electrical light fixtures in the room. He then never returned to finish and blocked my number from being able to contact him. He has taken my money, has not completed the work, did the work incorrectly per a city inspector I had come out to get a quote on finishing the work and it’s been 1 week and a half with no way of contacting him, and my living room is still in the demo stage. Per the registration paper I was shown, His contractor registration number with the state of **** is **********. His name is James D**** dba A Step Above the Rest. Since he has blocked me from communicating with him the day after he received the money, he had 0 intention from start to complete this project and only wanted to get a few hundreds dollar out of me for personal gain.
