      My husband passed on 02/23/2023 very suddenly and unexpectedly and I had my husband’s name removed from the joint checking account which was supposed to be free as long as you had automatic deposits but I was being charged $20.00 a month service fee and continued to have problems with them and closed the account in August 2023 Social Security said we owed my husband’s February payment that he wasn’t eligible for it but we had already paid the bills with it while he was alive! The major problem is that the bank reopened our joint account again without my permission based on the fact that the SSA reclamation department requested the rest of there money which equaled $350.37 it was originally more but I didn’t realize that the $25 they were removing from the account was to pay on this! After they reopened and paid the money they tried to collect from my husband and I talked to the guy with the collection company and he made note of date of death and said this was an uncollectible account and is to be written off!! But instead they insist that I owe them the amount they paid and are continuing to cause me trouble cause after the checking account was overdrawn for 60 days they charged it off but it is still showing up on my credit report and causing me trouble if I try to open any other bank account thankfully I already have one but I don’t see how they can legally reopen an account that I closed and also I have received no. collection notifications concerning this or even the fact that it had been reopened!! I think they should have notified SSA reclamation department about the fact I no longer had an account with them and given them my phone number and address and that’s all!! I want the account removed from my credit report and to make sure with out a doubt that the account is closed and that they don’t do it to anyone else! This is # she gave me ###-###-####. I have looked for the paper I singed but I can’t find it I was lucky just to take one day at a time! HELP

      Better Business Bureau:

      I talked to a man from First Financial in response to the BBB complaint and explained to him why I was upset and filed the complaint and he went back over my account when he found out I was treated poorly by the women I talked to and was being charged a service fee of $20 a month when it was supposed to be free and he called me back and said he reversed enough charges that it wound up with me owing them nothing and the bank account is now closed permanently

      On the 17th of Feburary and 3rd of March 2024 two checks with amount $7950 and $20000 were issued respectively to a customer of mine name ***** ***** which were deposited into his bank account at First Financial Bank. I got calls on multiple occasions from First Financial Bank to verify my approval of the checks which I informed them that the checks were issued and approved by me. Last Week ***** reached out to me telling me that First Financial Bank claimed that I lodged a dispute against the check and that it was returned back to my account, i will like to boldly note that i never lodged any dispute or requested that the check be returned and i haven't received any refund of the check back into my account as of today. I will be uploading images of the check issued and withdrawn from my account as well as my bank statements dated from the month the check was withdrawn from my account till my most recent statement issued by my bank.

      I wonder why you are trying to paint me in a bad image to ** *****, you told him i lodged a dispute against my check whereas i didn't and you told him he shouldn't expect any funds back that it will be sent back to me, and you are telling me you are in contact with ** *****. This is clear proof that you are trying to steal the money, do you really think you will get away with this?

      On the 17th of Feb, i deposited a check of $7950 in my account at First Financial Bank, the bank froze my account and requested for an invoice for the transaction. I provided there requested information and they called the owner of the account from which the check was withdrawn from. The owner spoke to them and verified that he authorized and wrote the check to me. The same person sent me a check of $20,000 and i deposited it into my First Financial Bank again and they froze my account again despite no single charge back or dispute on my account. They called the writter of the check again and he verified to them that he wrote and authorized the check. These whole issue has cost me my account at my other bank, because I initiated a direct debit upon my first financal bank account but they rejected it and froze my account, due to this situation my other bank froze my account to. At this point i will like to request first financial bank to close my account and send me my remaining account balance through a cashier check to my address on file.

      I received an account closure letter dated March 26 2024, saying my account will be closed on the 9th of April 2024 and the remaining balance will be sent to me via official check. As of today April 18 2024 i am yet to receive any check and i had a positive balance of $12000+ in my account before closure. You bloody coorperate criminals. Please BBB kindly post this message for everyone to see. I had a positive balance of $12,000 before account closure.       When the check was deposited into my account, you contacted the owner of the account in which the check was drawn and he confirmed his approval of the check, now you are claiming to have contacted the bank in which the check was drawn on and they said in quote "they are expecting the to be charged back" meaning it hasn't been charged back as of this very date. I have been in contact with the issuer of the check and he claim he never disputed the check or got any call from his bank concerning the check and he sent me proof to show that the check did clear in his account without any issue at all. I have attached his bank statements and images of the check for your review, this case won't be closed until either ***** ***** *** get the money back or you send me a check of my remaining balance.

      One question if the check of $27,500 was truly charged back, how come i don't have a negative balance since i had spent out of the money before my account closure. I believe i should have a negative balance if this check was truly deemed fraudulent and charged back.

      • On February 1, 2024 I applied for a **** Signature credit card with First Financial Bank. • Received credit alert from ******* that First Financial Bank received credit report on February 2, 2024 at 9:06am. • Received email application confirmation from First Financial Bank on February 2, 2024 at 9:10am • Received call from Jason R******, First Financial Bank, on February 2, 2024 at 3:35am. a. Mr. R****** inquired about my issuance/expiration dates of my Drivers License. b. Mr. R****** provided me with the accurate dates to which I confirmed verbally. c. Mr. R****** indicated at this time that maybe a bank employee entered the dates incorrectly which caused a “fail”. d. Mr. R****** then asked if I worked for the IRS to which I responded affirmative. e. Mr. R****** asked if I could come into the branch with photo ID because of “potential fraud”. f. Mr. R****** stated that I could speak to him or Michael C******. • On February 2, 2024 at approximately 4:10pm I arrived at the First Financial Bank branch located at **** ******* ***** *********** ** ***** to provide my Drivers License. a. Mr. R****** was in his office with a customer with the door open as I passed by. b. Mr. C****** was communicating with a teller electronically and asked a Teller to scan a copy of my Drivers License. c. After scanning my Drivers License, I asked the Teller if there was anything further needed to which he indicated no. • I contacted First Financial Bank on February 6, 2024 at 12:15pm and spoke with Michael C******. a. Mr. C****** stated that Mr. R****** had cleared up the “identification issue” with Underwriting and that he or Mr. R****** would contact underwriting and follow up with me in 1-2 hours. As of this writing on February 7, 2024 at 1:25pm, I have received no call from First Financial Bank.

      Yes, I will ask to close this complaint with BBB. The regional Manager who is Chris C******* stepped in with great leadership and customer service skills. He quickly listened to the situation, refunded the Harland check order funds and waited on the last check written from this account to clear so we can close the account. It grieves me to close the account because I went through a lot to set this account up for further receipt of my ****** and rental property proceeds. But the Branch Manager Dawn H*** who showed no empathy, no customer service skills to my situation and to me as a customer, I chose to close the account and start somewhere else. I recommend that she is taught better customer service skills or terminated. The prestige's branch they placed Dawn H***, I expect better customer service from her. It should not have taken the Regional Manager to step in to do her job and solve the problem. And in normal situations, I expect her behavior towards another customer would have been different. It would not have gone this far.

      I deposited a 500 check from my investment place this was on Friday 26 th may and wanted use it right away but they told me to wait til Tuesday cause Monday was a holiday but it was still not coming out of account so I went into bank and talked to lady there about it she called her managers and they said first I got my money then they said no so I had no money to live on because that was all I had and they did say I would get the money if check went through by the 14 of June which was very hard cause I needed the money plus my payroll money came in on Thursday the 1 of June and social security came on on the second of June which I have to wait til 14 for my livelihood o find this very unfair and cruel to me and they also closed my account so I have to get another checking account this is an awful thing that shows the powerful over the weak is unfair need my money and my account back

      compaint against my bank,,, a bank of which I have an Home Equity Line of Credit account, amomg 2 other accounts, the account of issue is a interest only HELOC, an account that was opened in 2006, let me explain that my home at the time of the opening of the account, was not zoned a flood zone, probably because we never flood here, but anyway, in and/or about 2012, we were re-zoned , rezoned as a flood zone, my primary mortgage holder at the time (*****),,, and my HELOC holder First Financial, they placed lender placed Flood Insurance, or Forced Flood Insurance, the issue/complaint that I have is NOT with the fact that FEMA forced the lenders into this predicament, the issue is with how, specifically, First Financial has taken advantage of this, they (First Financial) as well as *****, and my current mortgage company, of who is **** ******,,, they all placed the insurance on my house, and I paid,,, it was always reflected on my balance, and monthly payment, but First Financial, not only placed the insurance, of which put me over my credit limit at the time, now come to find out, via a refinancing that I closed on on 4/17/23, a refinancing I initiated and completed with my current holder: **** ******,,, bottom line is that First Financial charged me an extra $7000 for,,, for what they call, accured interest for the lender placed insurance, of which I paid,,, every month, let me add that I always paid more that the interest on my $70,000 line of credit, and watched over the years the balance decrease, as was reflected on my account details, on my statements,,, nonetheless, come to find out that the pay off amount on 5/17/23 was more then my original line of credit,,, it stinks to High Heaven,,, and I do have screenshots,,, and other documentation,,, it is very wrong,,, I would apprecaiate some help in recovering the funds that were stolen from me by First Financial...       Just like the the other complaint I was contacted by James M***** supposedly of First Financial bank about a loan that I was approved for...as with the other complaints they needed banking info for the repayment and deposit funds..A deposit was sent to my account and shortly after this man (James M*****) calls and says a mistake was made that the wrong loan amount was sent by mistake and said I needed to send it back via (zelle) which I did only later to discover that my account was frozen for depositing fake checks.. apparently Mr M***** is depositing fake checks into accounts and then having you, me send the deposit back not knowing of the fake check deposit...turns out the check he put into my account was from ******** department of revenue..with that said my bank account was closed for numerous violations and now I may have charges to deal with..
