On August 24, 2022 I brought my car to your shop for an oil change for which I was quoted $54 over the phone. On delivering the car I confirmed that the oil change was $54. On picking up the car I was presented with a bill of $374.01. We had no communication in the meantime and I was not informed of the higher amount prior to receiving the car.By my reckoning this runs afoul of **** regulations (Document #******, and Rule 109:4-3-13)If the expected cost of a repair or service is more than fifty dollars, you have the right to receive a written estimate, oral estimate, or you can choose to receive no estimate before we begin work. Your bill will not be higher than the estimate by more than ten per cent unless you approve a larger amount before repairs are finished. **** law requires ** to give you a form so that you can choose either a written, oral, or no estimate."I did not approve a larger amount and the bill is higher than 10% over the agreed upon amount and more like 600%. Please return the overcharge or we can try a mediator or small claims court to resolve this. I was not involved in this originally. I only got involved when the bank sent me a charge-back on your payment. I was the one who spoke to you over the phone when you gave me your card number for payment.First off, our oil changes have NEVER been $54.00, so there is no way you could have gotten an estimate for that amount from our Garage. Our oil changes are dependent on the vehicle and what types of oil and how much oil they use and what type of oil filter. Every vehicle is different. Your 2015 Lexus ***** takes 7qts of oil at $9.83 per qt. Thats $68.75 plus $19.20 for the oil filter for a total of $87.95 + tax Secondly, our mechanic only did what was asked of him. He said you asked for the vehicle to be looked over and the brake fluid be flushed so that is what he did. He spent 2 hours on it because he said you asked him too. Our labor rate is $110.00 an hour and that is where that charge comes from.This Repair Shop has been here for almost 100 years and 3 generations. The mechanic you spoke to has been here 50 years. We have NEVER been accused of anything like this EVER. I will remove the labor for checking over the vehicle and the brake fluid flush and checking your cooling and HVAC systems. $220.00 I will also remove the washer fluid and brake fluid as apparently you didnt want those filled - $17.00 I will also remove the $22.00 in mechanical shop supplies we used to look over car and check it over However the verbal QUOTE you said you received for the oil change did not come from this garage and the oil, filter and labor for work performed is $87.95 + tax which is $94.81 total.$374.01 - $94.81 = a refund of $279.20 which will be by check which will be sent to your residence once I hear back from you.
