We contracted with Josh A**** owner of Broward Builders LLC and signed a contract on November 14, 2022 to demo and reside our home with new James Hardie cement board. The front elevation would be brick with a water table of brick on the side. He would also stone the egress window. All items were listed on the contract. We paid him a draw of 35,125 on 11/14/22. Winter weather hit and the job was not started until march 2023. At that time he started demo we asked about getting the material delivered and he said he would do it soon. After weeks of no material he told us he spent the 35,125 on his own house and didn’t have the funds. We bought the materials, spending approximately 14,000. He did 70% of the work but still needed to complete the job and he agreed to complete it and paint it as well. We gave him another 10,000 and also gave him 2,000 for putting stone on the egress window after he fired his mason. We received a text today after asking for over a week when he would start painting and he said he’s completed the work and is not painting the house. In essence, he stole another 10,000. He took building material from our home that we were going to return for a credit, around 500 and never took it back to the lumber yard. He also took our ladder and drank on the job. We want our 10,000 back so we can pay a reputable company to paint our home. He has a long list of complaints from Florida when he was a contractor there.
