HOF ROOFING REPLACED ROOF *** ******** ****** SALEM OHIO. PAID IN FULL ON 08-12-2024. THE TENANT LET ME KNOW THEY DIDN'T COMPLETE THE JOB 09-04-2024 - THEY LEFT SPOUTING IN YARD AND NEVER REPLACED. I CONTACTED HOF (SEE TEXT MESSAGES) AND SENT PICTURES. I WAS ASSURED THEY WOULD FINISH THE JOB. I BEGAN EMAILING HOF IN JANUARY AS I WAS UNAWARE THE JOB HAD NEVER BEEN COMPLETED. THE LAST EMAIL I RECEIVED FROM THEM WAS MAY 7, 2025 AND THEY HAVE NOT RESPONDED TO ME SINCE.
THE MOST DISTURBING PART OF THIS IS I REFERRED THEM TO A CO-WORKER AND A SISTER WHO BOTH USED THEM FOR THEIR ROOF REPLACEMENT, AND YET I STILL HAVE NO GUTTERS ON THE BACK OF MY HOUSE. TO EXPLAIN THE TIME FRAME, MY SON DIED ON THE ROOF OF THAT HOUSE JANUARY 05, 2024 AND I HADN'T BEEN ABLE TO GO THERE AND THE TENANT DIDN'T WANT TO COMPLAIN TO ME THAT THE WORK WASN'T COMPLETED. HOF KNEW THE SITUATION AND TOOK ADVANTAGE OF MY SITUATION.Business Response

We attached a copy of our estimate to this complaint, and we did not quote to replace any parts of gutters on the home. When we installed the roof, the gutter was very mangled and damaged prior to our arrival and it was halfway hanging off... We removed what was left of the gutter as it served no purpose in the current condition it was in, and we had to replace the rotted wood that the gutter was fastened to. We do believe there was a communication error and we apologize for that. We have replaced this section of gutter for free at no cost to the homeowner in order to resolve this situation. We truly understand her concerns and we believe replacing the gutter section in question for free should rectify this situation.Customer Answer

I do not want to have any dealings with this business. They have been dishonest in their response to this complaint. If in fact I needed to have the gutters replaced because they were hanging halfway off, that should have been documented in their estimate to me. If they didn't notice they were mangled and damaged, perhaps they should have let me know that when they started the job that I would need to have gutters replaced. If not then, then perhaps when I first contacted them about the job not being completed on 09-04-2024. There was never a mention that the gutters were damaged - just that they were busy and would get to it. I would like to hire another roofing contractor to replace these gutters and do an inspection to be certain there was no damage done to the shingles or wood caused by the massive ice accumulation over the winter due to not having gutters. We're sorry you feel this way. We have completed everything we were contracted and paid for months ago. The miscommunication about rehanging your damaged gutters is the reason we replaced it for free. When we replaced this section of gutters, we inspected the roof for damages and we found none. Feel free to get quotes for your gutters, but we never quoted your gutters and that was not part of our scope of work, so we would never be responsible for replacing all your gutters...Even if you do replace the section we did for free, what type of refund are you expecting from us as we didn't charge you for it? The section you are upset about is roughly 15 feet and has been replaced with all new gutters and downspouts free of charge (Photo included). We have went above and beyond the scope of work for you in attempts to rectify this situation. I understand you do not what anything to do with us, but you are filing a BBB Complaint which requires us to respond to you on here... We will not contact you again from here on and we will consider this complaint closed.

New roof was installed with 66 sheets 4x8 OSB and didn’t nail the boards down and they have warped and are bowing. This needs repaired and will cause leaking and tearing in the shingles. They came out and agreed that it was bowing and warped and needed fixed and will get back to me and never got back to me and aren’t giving me answers or help.Business Response

**** ****** brought this to our attention when he called into our office on 2/4/25 at 1:31pm. We came out to his house at 9:48am the following day 2/4/25. In less than 24 hours we were on his roof to inspect these issues. He was not able to meet us on 2/5/25, so we returned to his property again on 2/7/25 to meet with him to further review his complaints. During both of our inspections on 2/5/25, and 2/7/25 we found no issues in the roof, and after confirming twice with **** there was no leaking, we told him we will not edit/repair his roof. His complaint is not visible from the ground as his roof is a low pitch and has rolled roofing. It has been explained to **** on multiple occasions we are not willing to modify a water tight roofing system that is preforming perfectly in hopes of fixing a non existent problem. We stand by our decision, and if any leaks or legitimate issues arise during our warranty, he knows how fast we will come out. **** hired us to replace his roof because our knowledge on roofing exceeds his, and I hope he reads this and understands we have his best interest in mind which is why we are refusing to do something that may harm his roof.

They aren’t talking about the problem that they put down 66 sheets of plywood and didn’t nail it down. The wood is warping and bowing up already. They never put nails into the wood. I have to have another contractor come out to fix the problem because they simply didn’t nail it down. And they don’t want to admit to the problem because it’s to costly to fix. I believe in the better business bureau and they have a good rating with the BBB so that’s why I chose company. This was complete negligence but replacing my roof and not nailing it down properly and I am already having my roof bow and stand up.

If we did not nail down the wood as you claim, your roof would have entirely blown off a long time ago. Its unfortunate you have come to the conclusion we are not modifying the roof because of a monetary issue, and not the fact that your roof is water tight with no issues. The issue you have described did not come to your attention until after you got on your roof to hang Christmas lights because there is no visual signs of the problem you describe. We will not modify our watertight roof we installed to attempt to correct an issue we don't believe is present. Its very important to take away the key features of this complaint:
Customer inquired about an issue related to their roof installed by us.
We arrive less than 24hrs after the initial call to inspect the roof.
We conclude there is nothing wrong with the roof, and confirm with the homeowner there is no leaks.
Customer demands we modify a correctly installed water tight roof to fix an issue we do not see.
We say no, there's nothing to fix and ask the customer to trust our judgement.
Customer refuses our opinion, continues to ask for something we have already said no to.
We hope you take into consideration our knowledge, experience, & reputation into your thoughts on this. We would never, and have never left a customer with an issue we did not properly correct, and you are no different. We are avaliable 24/7 for you if a REAL issue arises such as a leak. As we've stated to you on multiple occasions, we stand behind our work and do not believe at this time any modifications need to be made to keep your roof water tight, as it currently is and will continue to be.

They only nailed the corners down of the ply wood not the whole piece so the center is bowing. The roof looks like a rippled potato chip. It didn’t even make it through one winter without warping. Looks like speed bumps on my roof. They know they didn’t nail it down properly. It’s a mistake and a costly repair. They just wanna talk around the problem instead of honoring their warranty. It’s only gonna worse over the years and keep warping. I’m gonna have to pay for another company to come in and correct their mistakes. I trusted their BBB ratings and that’s why I chose them and because they had a warranty. They aren’t honoring their warranty or workman’s ship.Business Response

Once again we will not modify our roof we installed because of an issue that you think may arise in the future. Our warranty covers for actual failure of a system we install and not your opinion on what may happen in the future. If you are correct on the issue we would replace what’s needed in the future, but we refuse to repair a waterproof roof we installed. Your roof is not leaking, & there’s no immediate issue with your roof. If you choose to have an outside contractor modify our work you will be wasting your money, but we cannot stop you from doing what you want, and at this point you have decided your knowledge on this supersedes ours. We will not respond to this matter any further, and if a real issue ever arises we are available.Customer Answer

I have nothing to gain out of this. I just want my roof to be fixed. They know it’s a costly issue to fix that’s why they are denying to fix it. Why wouldn’t you nail the entire roof down why would you only nail the edges. There is an issue my roof is boeing and not supported correctly. Why would I make up a false issue and pay extra money for no reason. They came without an electric nail gun and had to hand hammer every nail down. I am obtaining written documents from several different roofing companies as well as my home insurance company stating this roof isn’t properly assembled. I didn’t want to go the legal route but this is unacceptable and terrible customer service and I’m going to have to take legal action.

We have attempted to rectify this situation from the start, and even after we expressed how the roof does not need repaired, they insisted it be repaired. Out of purely trying to satisfy a customer we agreed on a repair that would satisfy his concerns. On the day we had scheduled for the repair, ******* called us and told us he does not want anything repaired and to not come to his home. We have been more than accommodating to an issue that we do not believe is present in attempts to satisfy this customer. After changing his mind multiple times, we have decided there is no reason to continue discourse as nothing we seem to say or offer will rectify this situation in his eyes. We will not cover any costs or expenses if another contractor is hired to modify/repair/replace our watertight roof.
We will not respond past this point.
