I contracted ****** ****** to move my household belongings from Mogadore Ohio to my new address in Cuyahoga Falls Ohio On July 10, 2025. We signed a contract for the $1200.00 cost of the move. ****** also told me that his business insurance had expired but assured me that he would pay the industry standard of sixty cents per pound for any damage incurred during the move. I took him at his word because I has used them before to move some things to my nieces hime and they did a beautiful job with no damage.
They were supposed to start the move at 9:00 am on July 10, 2025 but didn’t arrive until 12:30 pm due to problems with an employee not showing up and truck size issues. ****** said the truck they would be using wouldn’t contain all my furniture in one move and two trips would be necessary. I told him that I approved that situation as long as my furniture would not be damaged.
When the movers arrived, there were three of them. The supervisors name was *** and he assured me that all of my furniture would fit, doing just one trip. He assured me that he had six years of moving experience and that my furniture would not be damaged.
They did damage my bedroom set, desk, sofas, dining table, nesting tables and end tables. I called ****** to report those damages within two days. However, circumstances arose that necessitated another move within a month. ****** and I agreed to that his company would move my belongings on August 11, 2025. We agreed to take care of damage to my furniture at that time with ****** again agreeing to pay sixty cents per pound or furniture piece damaged.
They did move me from Cuyahoga Fall to Ellet on that date.
*** was again the supervisor on the job. I immediately noticed that ***** behavior seemed unstable and he seemed to be angry. I reminded him to pad the furniture well but I was becoming very concerned due to his behavior.
There is no more space for the rest of the incidents and ******es refusal to cover damages please call.Unforeseen circumstances arose, requiring a second move on August 11, 2025. I had spoken to ******, owner of Dolly Donkeys Movers, and he assured me that the damage from the prior move would be covered by his company. He also assured me that he had spoken to *** regarding the prior move damage. He assured me that *** was one of his best workers and would transport my belongings safely and without damage. The movers arrived at 9:30 on August 11, 2025. As the loading of the truck started, I noticed that *** seemed angry and combative with me. As he was moving my mattress I noticed he was bending it to go through a doorway. I asked him not to bend it, as the bending would cause damage. He immediately told me that he always bent mattresses and and this was the way to move them. I again requested that he not bend my mattress. As the loading of the truck continued ***’s behavior became more bizarre. He told me of he and his family being ran out of Wooster because of some sort of sexual charge against him in a very convoluted way. He also alluded to working with addicts, kept talking about his grandmother in a negative way. He seemed very focused on trying to argue with me about any and every thing and was behaving in an aggressive manner. once all the furniture was unloaded. I started to see more damage to my belongings. I called ****** the next day. He agreed that ***’s behavior was bizarre and recognized that he had a history of drug abuse. He assured me that he would cover the damages. After several days had gone by and multiple unanswered calls to ******, I was finally able to reach him. He was immediately rude and accusatory towards me, saying my furniture was damaged prior to their moves. I had just sold my home in Mogadore and told him to view the pictures and videos taken by the realtor. My furniture was undamaged. He dropped that line of discussion and started attacking me personally, When I spoke to ****** regarding my seriously damaged furniture and ***’s bizarre behavior he gained said her would cover the damage per the contract. ****** stated he would contact a furniture repair service he uses and would call me back. He never did do that and he opulent return my calls.
He finally did respond to a text message from me in a very hostile manner.
He tried to say that my furniture was damaged prior to the moves. I let him know that that there were videos of my entire household o posted on line via the realtor showing that all of my furniture was in pristine condition.
He then dropped the accusation of the furniture hqving been damaged prior his his moving efforts and went into intimidation tactics, calling me names, trying to insult me and, in general, trying to bully me into dropping my ruwt for payment for repairing my furniture. His final response was to give me his attorney’s phone number and address and telling me to contact him. As proof of his behavior and actions, I have the, saved and can provide them if needed. That is the point that I decided to to file a complaint with your agency..
A week or so after my last contact with him, I received a text from him saying, “the check is in the mail”. I did not respond and was told by ******, of your agency, to wait a few days to see if he was actually sending a check. This held up the actual processing of this complaint.
I did receive a check from ****** for $250.00, which is far below the agreed upon coverage for damage, which was sixty cents per pound for each piece of damaged furniture. I have sent a ****** all of the pictures that document the damage and the weight of the furniture if far heavier than the required coverage dictates.
Literally, every piece of my furnishings were damaged. My bedroom headboard and foot board Had serious gashes in the wood and scrapes all over them. My nightstands her scratched and my armoire had numerous scratches and scrapes. The key to my desk was broken off in the lock and was dragged to the point of pulling screws from the side of the unit. My large oak, hand built curio cabinet has a huge gash along the top. My living room furnishings were seriously damaged. My very expensive credenza had gouges and chunks of wood missing, one of the doors will no longer open and close appropriately. My rocker/glider has scratches and gouges all over it. Both of my sofa had the underside netting torn and shredded, along with a deep gash to the upholstery. My dining room table had deep scratched in the wood and a chunk of wood was scraped from my server. My refrigerator has large scratches and numerous dents.
I have already spent $500.00 in having some of this damage repaired. I used ******* ******* ** ****** Antique Mall for those repairs and have the receipt for the $500.00 that I have paid for his services up to this point. There is much more work needed in order to restore my furniture back to its undamaged conditions.
I would guess that there is over 1000 pounds of my Belongings that were damaged by Dolly, donkey movers, *** and ******. ****** has paid me $250.00 and owes me an additional $750.00 for repair damage.
****** knowingly sent a known drug user to do the moving job, which resulted in serious damage to my belongings.
Thank you for help. I look forward to getting this resolved.Customer Answer
