The about of rotten wood I’ve had to replace on a home 10 yrs old to date is depressing don’t use them. They are horrible to deal with during construction and workmanship sucks.

We drove a 3 hour round trip for a pricing and planning meeting just to find out that the pricing advertised on the website was a "mistake". "Our bad, the starting price is actually 40% more"... Unacceptable.

Honestly I hate even giving them a 1 star! We built a 400,000 home with Schumacher and it has been absolutely devastating. From the time they graded our yard to the build. (they put the wrong siding on our house, our kitchen cabinets were ordered too large. They put in the wrong granite countertops in our office, ordered a specialty window too small and refused to fix it, our house was flooded underneath, which was never really fixed properly) now that we have been here two years all the baseboards cabinets countertops are pulling away from the walls. Most walls have cracks in them that have formed overtime. My floors are buckling, which is causing my vinyl to rip up. They forgot to put three vents in one in our pantry and two in the kitchen. We had to call them back to cut an attic door in our garage so we could get to the storage space above our garage. It’s just absolutely heartbreaking when you have saved for so long and wanted to build your dream home and it is literally crumbling before your eyes. We were expecting a nice new home and now we are looking at thousands of dollars worth of repairs that we can’t afford when they should’ve been right the first time. Please do not build with Schumacher Homes. Their model homes are gorgeous, but trust me that’s not what you get not that quality of work that you pay for. They cut corners anyway they can. You’ll be left with thousand dollars worth of repairs when you have built a brand new home. I’m beyond heartbroken!!

Once you sign the closing papers on your house the customer service afterwards is the worst ever! We closed last year and they never painted our three exterior doors correctly and the paint has been peeling off. We submitted multiple warranty claims last fall and they sent someone to "fix it" and the paint came right off again. They never primed it correctly and now there is peeling paint. When we contact the employees at the Greensburg office they never return your calls or emails and finally in February we were told that in April they would send another painter to fix it. Here we are almost the end of May and have not heard a peep from them. There have been other issues we have had as well. We paid a lot of money for this house and to have your front door which is supposed to be painted black look like crap is not acceptable and at this point I just want a new front door and we will paint it ourselves. We should not have to scrape all the paint off from their mistake.

I am very happy with my Schumacher Home! The quality is excellent, I am so appreciative of the help I received from the Akron Ohio Office and Jennifer S******. I had an unforeseen site condition come up with my sewer install.
I’m happy to have built with Schumacher Homes,I am beyond excited to spend many years in this new beautiful home with my family!

After 7 years of living in a 290k house... each year, walls have cracked, baseboards popping loose, doors jamming, counters pulling away from walls and they keep wanting to throw band-aids at an engineering error. My neighbor has same exact house and it's doing the same thing. Not enough foundation support... single floor joist where load bearing places are.. in 12 years... I will have no level floor period. Their structural engineer refuses to come out and see what could be done. Better off, if I built it myself. Even 2 professional foundation specialist said it wasn't built to support the houses weight.

Run! Worst company ever. They dream of ways to charge extras and threaten to pull out unless you pay. CM’s lack knowledge of building or building codes. Most trades very unskilled. Our end date was changed 5 times. Home finally turned over without a septic system. Now Schumacher Mortgage trying to fine us $250 daily for not having septic completed. Total nightmare!!

An HONEST review of a Schumacher Home that we had built on our land and have lived in for a little over a year. To start out we had picked Schumacher Homes to build our forever home on land that we had purchased prior years after we found a house plan we fell in love with. Doing our due diligence we looked up the reviews and there were some good and some bad. We figured if we stayed on top of things during the building process and pointed out any mistakes or changes we would get the house we've always wanted. Now here I am one year later still regretting my decision of letting them build our forever home. Every single contractor that was hired or subbed out by Schumacher Homes did something wrong at one point or another. I am here to tell you it does not matter if you stay on top of them or call the general contractor on a daily basis they tell you to let them do their job regardless if they are doing things wrong or not. We paid A good amount of extra money to have flat ceilings throughout the whole house, one day we came in and every single ceiling in the house was textured and there are still sections on our ceiling that are textured even though we marked them during our walk-through, we paid good money for a certain backsplash that we wanted we come in and they installed the wrong backsplash they had to tear it all down and start fresh again. The windows that were required for the basement are not level one window is higher up than the other. We had problems with our plumbing and some electrical during the building process. We had problems with the windows being installed crooked which we had asked this to be fixed time and time again with absolutely no luck. We still have problems with our vinyl plank flooring separating In areas. Please keep in mind you are just a number and a paycheck to them they do not build custom homes as they claim they just have to fix the stuff that they messed up during the building process which turns it into a custom home.

It's been four years since we hired Schumacher homes location in *********** Ohio to build our "retirement castle". Visiting the office and sales staff was always upbeat and promising. Our daughter was participating and we planned to share costs and living space. As we started final construction details a few of our "custom wishes" had to be derailed because they didn't do business with certain vendors (like the automatic mini water heater unit). Building started and we tried to visit at least three times a month. Once there was a lone workman who said he was only there to "guard the company's tools". Frankly we never saw more than one worker and the job supervisor once the shell was up. Two big mistakes made were setting up the broom closet as the pantry, and putting a large hole in our custom tile bathroom when they put in the shelving for the wall-to-wall pantry on the opposite wall. As the finished date came closer, the office rushed us to *********** and handed us a check for $13,240, to cover unfinished items. For the following day they would have had to pay us a penalty sum far greYer...$25,000! We do not recommend this unit of the main company

We worked with Schumacher to build a Charleston model on a lot in Southern Delaware county. We found the process to be very transparent, the communication was proactive and consistent, and we had a great project manager in Steve P****.
We were really impressed with how quickly the house was built. I don't think we are the norm, but our 2600 sq ft house was built in under 100 days. Even more impressive than that, was the quality in which they performed the work. We had several Amish contractors, along with other trades, and they all were pretty meticulous about the details.
Like any construction project, there are always things that need to be changed or fixed, but Steve and his team were very accommodating and made the process simple. I didn't think we got hit with any hidden fees or unexpected changes. In fact, they worked with us to minimize cost impacts wherever we could.
I would highly recommend working with them. It's important that you understand you have an active role in the process. The more you communicate, check on progress, ask questions, do your homework, the better results you'll have.
