My daughter signed a contract with a "Wedding Planner" on February 8, 2023 and used my credit card for the down payment of $2,987.; I notified the owner on April 10, 2023, Nicole S*******, that the wedding was cancelled... I spoke to her on the phone and then sent an email. Nicole asked me to sign another contract immediately to cancel the original contract. I wanted to make sure I canceled quickly so I signed on her website (I don't have a copy), not knowing I further committed she would never return the funds. She said she would consider giving me half back if she books a wedding on May 24, 2024. I was hopeful as we were more than a year away. Every other vendor returned our money because the cancel was quick and over a year away. No one kept one penny except Nicole, and she performed NO work planning the wedding. I contacted her on 8/21/23 and asked if she booked our date and she said NO... but how do I know she is telling the truth. I contacted her again on 9/27/23 and asked for a refund which she said NO. I then told her I would plan a party on the original wedding day and expect her to perform work to warrant her keeping $2,987. I asked if she would purchase or make 500 wedding favors and drop them off. I could at least keep these until my daughter marries and get something for my money loss. Nicole said NO ... the contract is such that the only service she will provide is the wedding planning for the original wedding and no other services will be performed by her for the money, which she is keeping. I think it's very unfair given she performed NO work, it's a huge down payment and it was well over a year prior to the wedding date for her to book another client. For all I know, she could block the date and never book it ... and keep my money. I feel helpless. I hope you can help.... please.
