4/10/2023 a used car was purchased from SJ Motorwork LLC, *** * ******* **** ***** ** *****. I made a payment of $3,400 a one off payment. The business promised to transfer the car Title to my name within 45days as stipulated by the law. However, up till now the promise has not been fulfilled. To my ultimate dismay, the business has relocated from the above address or folded up. All communiques to the said business has proved abortive in terms calls, text messages and fax.
The issue was reported to the BMV and Attorney General Office since 6/15/2023. But it's saddened no feedback nor any resolution in view. Kindly use your good office to force the business owner to provide me my title to enable me to buy a license plate to my car. I am tired buying temp tag. I have purchase 5 up till date. Please save a soul of an innocent international student.

Problem:
[BBB transcription via email, see attachments] I purchased a used car from the above dealer at the aforementioned address but the dealer has refused to give me my title. It will interest you that the payment was FULL one off payment in cash which. He issued me a temp tag for 45days on the promise that he will avail me my car title before the expiration. I went back the very day of the temp tag expiration date but his sales man said he wasn't around. Called was put across to him which he did not answered. I went back few weeks after just to discovered he has relocated. All efforts to reach him through calls, text messages was abortive. Ever since then till date, I have been left stranded without a title to register my car appropriately with the DMV. I hove lodge this complaints with the Attorney General Office on 06/15/2023 with complaints number ******* but feedback. Severally call has been made to the Attorney General Office for feedback has not yielded any fruits. I went further to report at the ***** Police Stattion all to no avail. My husband and I purchased a car from them on May 16, 2023. It is now July 29th and we still do not have a title. The temporary tags expired on June 30th. We now have a vehicle that can not be driven because we can't plate it. We need two vehicles because we have a baby. This car needs work done and we can't fix it until we get the title. By **** law, if you can not produce the title in our name within 40 days, we are legally allowed our money back. The bill of sale and all of our paperwork don't even show the right amount. It says we spent less on the car than we actually did. Give us the title now or take the car back. Going on three months for a title is ridiculous.Initial Complaint

I bought a 2004 ram 1500 for 5400 from SJ motorworks a year ago on march 14th 2022. I never received my title after they told me it would come in the mail in 2 weeks I've gotten multiple 30 day tags and every time I asked about the title they lied then eventually said it was in pennsilvania I told them I wanted a refund and I would give them back the truck they agreed to only give me 3,000 and they never paid me I even filed a complaint with the **** general attorney and I still haven't heard anything i've spent over 80 dollars on tags I've gotten pulled over twice and fined for expired tags but my truck is my only means of transportation I just want my money back so I can get another car I have a newborn and it's hard.Initial Complaint

I purchased my truck, a 2004 F250 from SJ Motorworks LLC on 03/27/2023. I paid them 4500.01 for the vehicle and was issues a temporary tag and was told they would contact me when the title was ready. I waited until my tag was almost expired and with no communication and I could not reach them on the phone went to their office. I was told there was a delay in the transfer from where they had purchased it from, and they would issue me another temporary tag. I have made several attempts to resolve this issue and have made numerous trips to the BMV to see if the title was transferred but to date it still has not been resolved. I spoke with an employee thru Facebook today 06/29/2023 and was told it would be handled by 07/05/2023 but I am not confident after all of these false promises that it will be resolved. 10/17/22 bought 2008 Chevy Silverado from this car lot.
10/19/22 key wouldn't work turn cylinder.
10/20/22 went and got new keys and cylinder installed at key shop.
10/25/22 truck wheels locked up on way to work. Both wife and I almost hit the dash because the seat belts never engaged. Left a 3 ft. Black mark. Started making a grinding noise. Parked it in my driveway. Took off right rear drum. Noticed the cylinder had a piece broke off of it. Replaced all the brakes thinking that would solve the issue. Still grinding issue.
10/26/22 Tried calling mechanic shops but everyone was booked up. Also asked car lot about the warranty they provided with each purchase. Again asked to speak to the owner.
10/29/22 was told the owner would call me Monday.
11/3/22 called the warranty company and they denied the claim because the differential cover was leaking and rusted also the rusty bolts. There was no oil in the differential.
11/4/22 No call from Owner but was told by the car lot they would charge me $200 for parts and another $900 for something that was never explained to me.
My mechanic said it would be a waste to put that much money into fixing the truck with both frame rails rotted out. It would be a safety issue. Said they should have never sold it because of the frame damage.Business Response

On the day of purchase we have on camera the customer being disclosed of the frame damage and him looking at the frame damage. We also have paper work signed for the frame damage. As everything was transparent and well known about. To resolve the issue even after the fact of knowing about the damage. We offered him 200 to fix the frame and 900 to replace the rear end. 1000 plus dollars under his mechanics quote. We also did fix his key cylinder which was known about at the time of purchase for free. We fixed it after. It was sold and days later being brought up free of charge.Customer Answer

I am rejecting this response because:
The salesman NEVER disclosed frame damage to me. Never disclosed the bad key cylinder. They admitted they had it on a lift and 0 (zero) issues. They texted me a quote for the $200 was for parts and never explained what the $900 was for. Then they was supposed to call me back and see about getting me a tow truck to pick it up. No answer yet. How can they sell a vehicle that has frame damage? BIG safety issue. I am not comfortable driving a frame damaged vehicle. I want my money back. I'm out thousands, and stuck with a frame damaged vehicle. I doubt my insurance will ever insure this vehicle. Their warranty company didn't wanna repair rust. Call the warranty company and ask why the claim was denied. Tired of getting the runaround. Ive ask/left messages numerous times to talk with the owner with no response from him. Is it legal to sell a vehicle with frame damage from a dealer? Repairs are going to be almost half of the purchase price. Is it legal for a car lot to weld a vehicle frame that is not licensed to do such repairs? I've missed 2 weeks of work. I need a truck for the job I do. Safety should be number one. My life matters. My money matters. I'm a small business owner and this is definitely disheartening that this is how they do business. Their reply and what our text messages state says two different things. The manager is rude and told me he say been there two years and knows what the owner wants and how he will handle the situation. But never has the owner said anything to me. Its been over 3 month's since buying this truck and I have not received the title. My second 45 day tag has expired. I want my money back, the replacement of the rear end, and new brakes that I'm out. I'm out over $7800.00 and cant get to work. I make $35.00 an hour and that too might be added into this since missing work.

I am rejecting this response because:
It took him over 90 days to get my title to me. Plus a few more days because the web portal and sending me my title 2 day shipping. If you look at the title its dated and signed the 13th of January. Way over time limit. They can fix they $100 key cylinder but not the frame damage and rear end? All no fault of mine. I no longer trust this truck because it almost got my wife and I in an accident. All this happened within a weekPlus why did I pay $6000 cash and the title says I paid a lower price? Seem suspicious there also. I paid taxes did they? Very deceptive dealing here. Purchased a car from this company near the end of July, provided me with a 45 day tag and said I will have the title within 2 weeks. Today is the end of the 45 day tag September 9th 2022 and they do not have my title.Last minute today, after again reaching out when they open at 9:30A.M. I was told they had to check by a text message, never answered my calls, just received text messages about them having to check still. The *** wouldn't supply another 30 day tag, and the title bureau will not make me a title for the car. I drove to the company in *****, asked about the title and they claim the title had an error and was refused by the ***, so they do not have the title. They claimed they could supply me with another 30 day tag but couldn't, because of some error.
