I purchased a 2017 Chevrolet Tahoe from Van De Vere Chevrolet on December 29th of 2020 for 41,703.80. The chief selling point for me and one that was featured by Van De Vere's sales staff was a "Warranty for Life" which was pushed very hard as a great reason to purchase a car from their establishment. I proceeded to bring the car to them for all scheduled maintenance, despite the costs, only to keep my warranty in effect. When it came due for the transmission, transfer case and differentials service, I called your Administrator as instructed on 2/8/21 at ************** and spoke to "*****" who gave me the go ahead to bring the vehicle to *** and Sons Transmission specialists, While on Vacation in Nevada, The service interval for my Tahoe came into effect, and I called the ***e 800 number and spoke to "***" on 3/14/2022, who authorized me to bring the vehicle to *** Foster's Automotive for an oil and filter change. After returning home from vacation I continued to bring the car to Van De Vere for all scheduled service. On 5/23/2025 my Tahoe experienced a transmission issue and went into limp mode. I immediately brought the car to Van De Vere for repair. A week later I got a call from Van De Vere telling me my claim had been denied, that the maintenance records were incomplete. This thoroughly shocked me and I then provided the records they asked for. A few days later I got another call saying the warranty company had denied my claim again because they had "no record" of my calls to them. I informed them I had records of the calls and whom I had spoken to. I finally got a "****" on the phone on 6/5/2025 by claiming to be a dealer, who refused to give his last name and he informed me that there was an issue with my warranty for life that they informed Van De Vere of on 11/17 2023!!. A couple days later they "found" the authorization call, but not the second call. This was their reason to deny my claim. One phone call for an oil change!!Business Response

Our customers who purchase a qualifying vehicle, receive a Warranty Forever Limited Powertrain Warranty free of charge. Certain Maintenance is required to maintain and keep the warranty valid. If the customer chooses to have the maintenance on their vehicle done at another repair facility other than VanDevere, pre-authorization is required by calling into the Warranty Forever Administrator so they can keep record of the maintenance completed on their vehicle. If they service at VanDevere the records are automatically sent to Warranty Forever. I have attached the contracts signed by Mr. ******** stating the warranty requirements. Our Chevy Service Manager reached out to the Warranty Forever claims department to inquire about the denied claim. According to their records, preauthorization was not done for an oil change on 3/15/2022 from *** Foster's Automotive. Our Service Manager spoke with Mr. ******** and explained everything and offered a 15% discount towards his Transmission repair.Initial Complaint

Multiple employees at Van Devere are involved with Gang Stalking(Google it). I need a new engine (light on) and Van Devere KIA and Van Devere Chevelot have refused to repair my engine. I called KIA and they stated that they do not understand, why they will not repair the engine because the engine is still under warranty for the Powertrain. I have been given the run around multiple times about getting a new engine. This is an example of Gang Stalking, there is no reason why Van Devere should not replace my engine, it will not cost Van Devere or myself to replace it. If you read about Gang Stalking, it is a mental attack against one individual. Please take this complaint serious, because I will be contacting the FBI, CIA, and DEA about this issue. On 4-9-25, I paid for an oil change at the Van Chevelot location and I paid for an oil change, but I did not receive one. I called KIA and told them that my oil change sensor is still stating that I need a oil change and KIA stated that indicator would go off, if I had an oil change and the indicator states that I am over due 15 days for an oil change and I just paid for an oil change on 4-9-25. I called and spoke to Brent M Bailey, and told him what KIA stated, he still claimed that it wasn't covered for the engine to be replaced and I stated talking about being Gang Stalked and he was more scared and concerned about Gang Stalking, then he was about my vehicle being fixed, then he transferred the call to one of the service managers, and he also was more concerned and scared about me saying the word Gang Stalking, then he was about my engine. I have a witness, that also had a KIA Optima, and she had no issues when she needed a new engine and they did not give her a piece of GM paperwork to fill out a diary about the engine.( I will provide the piece of paper I was given, later) I am being targeted by Van Devere because of a legal issue, between Van Devere and my Grandmother ******** ******, that has nothing to do with me.Business Response

******* ****** purchased her vehicle from us on 4/18/20. She chose not to purchase an extended warranty but did receive a Warranty Forever ( Powertrain Warranty) at no additional charge. She was in on July 11, 2023 for an oil change and a check engine light. The check engine light had a ***** code for a Knock Sensor. They performed the necessary update and cleared the code. There was a recall on her vehicle so they did a Rod Bearing test and it passed. Kia will only replace an engine under this recall if the Rod Bearing failed. We then submitted a claim to our Warranty Forever Powertrain Warranty Company to see if the needed engine repair was covered through them. Unfortunately she did not follow the routine Maintenance requirements to keep her Warranty Forever valid. I have attached the contracts signed by the customer explaining the maintenance requirements at the time of her purchase and the email response from NWAN, our Warranty Forever administrator, for the reasons her claim was denied.
According to our Kia Service Manager the recall is still open with Kia. If the check engine light comes back on, any Kia service dept can test the rod bearing again to see if it fails and submit to Kia for a claim approval.Customer Answer

I am rejecting this response because: Van Devere will not admit that I called their forever warranty customer service department and told them that I was switching over to Ken Ganley KIA. (This was before 2023) That is the reason that they cancelled my forever warranty with Van Devere, this was apart of the Gang Stalking. If you look on the invoice that is attached, on the upper left-hand corner, you will see that the customer number# ******* is my Grandmother's number, if you call that number and ask for ******** ****** at ************, she will answer. Because of alleged legal issues between Van Devere and my Grandmother, Van Devere has discriminated against me and refused to assist me with my engine, as I have stated, I have a witness that had the same vehicle, and when they had issues with their vehicle, they were not given a piece of paper to keep track of when their engine light came on. If you look at the other document attached to this complaint, you will see that this is fraud, at the bottom of the piece of paper, it clearly states that the document is for repair shop technicians ONLY. I should have never been given this piece of paper in the first place. Van Devere had no intentions on fixing my vehicle in the first place, they have done nothing but given me the run around about my engine. Van Devere is keeping REAL silent about the word Gang Stalking, this did not just start at the Chevelot location, but it began at the West Market Street location.Initial Complaint

I bought a used vehicle from Vandevere on Feb, 10th 2025. And by Feb, 12th I notice noise coming from the front driver side of said vehicle, I made a service appointment for Feb 13th, and was notified the vehicle had a bad/worn lower control arm that would need to be repaired, I was sold the vehicle under the assumption it was in safe driving condition with a clean car fax, the vehicle was sold to me under false pretense that the car was safe and reliable, the car was not checked or serviced for safety before it was sold to me otherwise I would not have bought the vehicle, and now I am seeking to be refunded my down payment of 4500$ and the contract between I, vadever, and my Lien holder to be cancelledBusiness Response

All of our vehicles go thru a used car inspection to determine what repairs are needed for the safety of the vehicle. I have attached the used car inspection repair order which shows what was done in Dec when the vehicle was traded in and prepared for sale. We are sorry for the inconvenience of the added repair that happened after the customer took delivery of the vehicle but mechanical breakdowns can't be predicted. His vehicle was repaired at no charge.Business Response

I purchased a 2020 VW Atlas back in Jan 2024. Our salesman was good and made the purchasing process easy. Within a few weeks, the brakes started loudly squeaking. When bringing the vehicle in for an oil change, I mentioned this to the service advisor. I was told that all brakes were replaced when the vehicle was serviced by them before being sold to us. Told it was most likely due to moisture and nothing to worry about. I accepted this answer as I am no expert on cars. The squeaking continued and I brought the car in 2 additional times and shared this complaint each time. Assured again that the brakes were brand new and it wasn’t an issue with them. During this period of time, the Bluetooth feature also went out in my car. Took my car in for an oil change last Friday. I received the video that is provided of my car and what all needs attention. It shows I need a new battery, new filter and BRAKES! I have been told all along that the brakes were all brand new and now conveniently it was only the front that were new and it’s the back that need replaced. I explained that I understand normal wear and tear but I have been told every time that all brakes had been replaced before purchase and they weren’t the cause of the squeaking. I have had the car for 13 months and haven’t even put 10k miles on it. For the “misunderstanding” the manager did agree to discount the back brakes. After being there for 5 hours my car still wasn’t done from the oil change, battery and filter replacement. They gave me a rental at this point and I left my car overnight to be finished and have the back brakes replaced. A week later and my brakes still squeak significantly and I don’t have Bluetooth in my car which was an important feature I wanted when purchasing. Spoke to the general manager who proceeded to tell me all of this is normal wear and tear and was handled above and beyond on their part I have been lied to and mislead and now left with a car that still needs issues resolved.Business Response

The used car inspection that was done prior to the sale of the vehicle is attached for your review. An oil change and front brakes and rotors were replaced. When the customer came in for other services our service dept showed her all of her inspections that her rear brakes were wearing nice and even. She started at 6MM then the next visit they were down to 4MM and her last visit we recommended brakes at 3MM. As a goodwill gesture we offered to do her rear brakes at half price which is around $250.00.Customer Answer

I am rejecting this response because:
I do understand normal wear and tear. And we would have been okay with it had we not been told several times before that all of the brakes were brand new and not the issue. The bigger issue is the squeaking from the brakes that has been dismissed since shortly after purchase. It started mearly weeks after purchase and we have mentioned it several times and never gotten any answer other than it’s not an issue with the brakes, it’s from moisture. That day, we spent over 5 hours there for an oil change, battery replacement and filter change. That’s ridiculous to begin with but especially when the hold up was due to an error they made with the battery. Car was kept overnight and we had the back brakes replaced then, and while I appreciate the gesture of half off, the problem still remains…..we still have loud squeaking from the brakes. It is so loud that we can hear it in the house when one of us is pulling in or pulling out of the driveway. While I do feel we were mislead regarding the brakes, I will accept the response for that. However, we aren’t satisfied with our new purchase still having squeaking brakes and no working Bluetooth. Both issues occurring only weeks after purchase. And the fact that it is being dismissed poorly reflects on their business and the quality of their work. They should stand behind the cars they sell and want to make it right.Business Response

On 2/29/24 the notes on Repair Order ******* show that the customer mentioned the brakes have started squeaking so they would like to have them looked at. The technician recommended the front and rear caliper brake service lubricating the slide pin and flush the brake system. This service shows declined. We don't show any mention of the blue tooth not working. We would be glad to inspect the blue tooth issue free of charge if the customer would like to bring it in for service.Initial Complaint

I bought a 2020 Kia Optima on 7/18/2024 with a lifetime warranty and an extended warranty. The day after purchasing, there was an oil leak in my garage. I attempted to contact my salesperson many times with no luck. I kept calling the dealership directly, and each time, I was given the runaround. Finally, I spoke to ** ***, who told me he would take care of me. However, I never heard back from him again. I brought the car in and was told the oil pan was cracked, which caused the leak. They replaced it at no charge, but I continued to experience oil leaks. I was told to come in for an oil consumption test. I came in 7 times between September and December, and my car was burning anywhere from 1.5 to 3 quarts of oil every 1,000-1,500 miles. On 12/16, I was told they had a courtesy vehicle for me and that I could bring my car in to start the inspection for the warranty company. On 12/19, I was advised that a boroscope revealed damage to the cylinder walls and that my motor was shot. The warranty company denied the claim. On 1/3, they began a full tear-down to gather more evidence for the warranty company. On 1/28, I was told the claim was denied again and that there was nothing they could do for me. They now want me to pay $6,000 to replace the engine and $750 in tear-down fees, which I was told multiple times by ****** I would not have to pay before returning my car. This car was sold to me without proper inspection, as the spark plugs were shot and covered in oil a few weeks after purchase, which I had to pay to fix myself. I request either the engine be replaced at no cost, since this issue existed when the car was sold, or a replacement car of equal value, or a full refund of the loan, down payment, and extended warranty. I was misled throughout this entire process and sold a car without proper inspection.Business Response

Our General Manager spoke with the Warranty claim department, of the service contract company, to get a specific reason why the claim was denied. The answer from them was " There are no demonstrated failures at this time to any eligible components. Measurements were taken of the piston rings, and they are within the manufacturer's tolerances for ring gap measurements. The inspector verified that the rings are carboned up, but there is no tension loss. There is carbon buildup on all four cylinders, but no scoring on the cylinder walls. The agreement excludes costs or expenses to the correct compression or oil consumption when a breakdown of an eligible component has not occurred. Based on the information we have at this time, we do not have a valid claim." That being said from the warranty inspector, Our General Manager and owner agreed that the oil consumption shows an issue with the customers vehicle. The customers vehicle will be fixed. Our Service Manager will be notifying the customer to set up the appointment to handle the repair.Initial Complaint

I had issues with my car thinking it was electrical, I had a electrician look at my car and they told me from their diagnostic it's believed to be a (TCM)Transmission Control Module based how I explained to them how my car was preforming !! So I took it to Van Devere Chevrolet on **** ****** **** Nov.14th 2024 to have my car serviced for what I believed my issue was? As I explained to the salesman what I was told my car needed,he asked how did I know I needed a TMC ? I explained how I got the information and diagnosis telling him im not a mechanic ,so he gave a pricing & how long it would take and how he would keep me updated on the my car which he did not ? I dropped car off at 9:30 a.m. texted back at 4:10 p.m. checking on my car, He texted back im checking now ?Told me my car was ready for pick up !! A minute later the technician sent a video sayng for the life of him he didn't know why I needed a TMC but we did what the customer asked for ?? The technician said what all was done .. i came to pick up my vehicle I looked over my receipt and I started asking questions? Initially what had me checking to see what was wrong with my car is how it started performing and i explained this to the salesman telling him i cant drive over 50 mh driving with him asking was my car giving code name issues and he named 2 code based on what was said on my dashboard So he told me he would keep me updated on my car and never did so I asked what is customer service? I asked what is considered prodical for a customer being they changed all my fluids gaskets and a fee others things that I didn't ask for since they said they only fixed what I asked for and that's where it made no sense to me and how they do their customers. What I paid for my car isn't fixed. The manager **** said it's prodigal to top off fluids & replace gaskets but not a diagnose because that cost more money to do !! The charge for fluids gaskets were changed ??? I need my car fixedBusiness Response
Date: 12/18/2024
*** ***** brought his vehicle in and at his request we replaced the TCM. When installing and programing the new TCM some fluids maybe lost and some gaskets need replaced. Those items equaled $78.73. Because the customer felt he was not informed of this we deducted $100.00 from his repair. I have attached a copy of the repair order highlighting the request, parts, and deduction given.Customer Answer

I just feel as a paying customer that I wasn't treated properly being how my experience with Van Devere Chevrolet went about,my car is still as it was when brought it in ?! If my issues with my car wasn't what I was told then correct my issue by keeping me updated on the status and if it's a different price for the service!! I thought that is considered customer service to help and satisfy the customer so I feel that's not the case with how they fo business?? If I was a mechanic I would have known how to word it better where my car would've been worked on properly?!! It's like they take advantage of the customer how they did me!! All I wanted is for my car to fixed so I can drive normallyCustomer Answer
Date: 01/03/2025
After seeing Van Devere responded they have a 2nd bill addition that I never seen or received with all the other additives?? Why wasn't I given the 2nd half of this billing that they are showing NOW .. All I want is my car fixed properly without any issues like I originally brought my vehicle for !!! They told me they didn't need to program the TCM or give me a diagnostic being that I explained the electrician told me that he believed what I asked to be fixed from what they figured was my cars problem?? I told the salesman I'm not a mechanic I'm just giving you what explained to me?? The salesman asked me was the codes I see on my dashboard this or that then I told him which codes were showing and he said those are what usually come up for what I asked for from what I was told ? I just figured the service would check to see what's wrong and inform me if so or not to let me if that is my cars issue or not and let me know what's really wrong and we go from there ??? This is what I thought customer service was/is ??!!!Business Response

I took my truck to Vandevere Chevrolet to get a fuel injector changed. It was bad and covered under warranty. They broke two injectors and bent my fuel rail getting the one bad injector out. Our General Manager spoke with Mr. ******** on Friday July 26th and agreed to refund $200. A check for that amount was written and sent in the mail on Friday. The warranty he is referring to is the free powertrain warranty VanDevere provides to our customers who purchase a vehicle with less than 100,000 miles. He is welcome to take it to another certified shop but the requirements are that he calls the administrator which is Warranty Forever at ************** prior to each service performed or the warranty will be voided. I have attached a copy of the contract where the customer initialed the contract as the requirements were explained at the time of his vehicle purchase.Customer Answer
Date: 07/31/2024
I am rejecting this response because:
I bought from this company based on this warranty. I believe they breached the terms of the contract by causing damage to my vehicle. They also breached by asking me to pay $600 for $300 worth of parts.I have zero trust in this company. If they want to buy my truck back for full price that I paid fine if not I believe they should allow me to use my warranty at a trustworthy repair shop or dealership.Otherwise it feels like a bate and switch. Offer something then when it’s time to use it they make me pay for their incompetence.Business Response

We have refunded $200.00 and have explained the warranty terms. We have no further response.
