My family and I (two adults, two small boys) visited Jade Bistro on Veteran's Day, Monday, November 11th, 2024. After negotiating with our boys about the selection for the best meal for them, we decided to select the Chicken Lo Mein on the Kids Menu. One of the main selling points was that the menu said it included a soda. My boys are never allowed to have soda so this was a big treat, and the reason why we selected this meal option instead of selecting another option and not ordering a soda. After receiving the check, I queried the waiter why there was a $4.00 charge for a soda when it was included with the Kids Chicken Lo Mein (it was printed this way on the receipt so I know we did not get an adult Chicken Lo Mein). He said, "that's old menu; it is no longer included, you have to pay extra." I told him, that "No, I ordered that meal because of what you have advertised on the menu, and if the menu is not correct, you need to update it and not falsely advertise." He said "he would check with his manager." He came back about 6 minutes later and repeated the same thing, "It is an old menu, and I would have to pay for the soda." I didn't press the issue further, paid the bill, plus a standard tip, and left. Possessing both a Bachelor's Degree and a Master's Degree in Business Administration, I know very well a company cannot falsely advertise. That is against the law. Then, when I called them out on it, they did not even offer to make it right, or even apologize! This company needs to be cited and investigated for illegal business practices. Where there is smoke, there is fire. In full disclosure, I will say, the food was good and the restaurant was clean. It's a shame they are willing to throw it all away over a $4.00 soda. I'm sure it is all a misunderstanding, and I truly tried to get to the bottom of the issue, but I could only press the issue so far without making a scene in front of the other paying customers. I did not leave a public review.
