In April 2021 I booked a trip with Great Value Vacations for my wife and I to travel to ****** in August 2021 for $2,596.05. On 7-7-21 Great Value Vacations cancelled our trip. They have since stated that I may re-book a trip with them until 12-31-22 at which time they will keep my money if I don't book by then. I have routinely made numerous attempts through Great Value Vacations to find a trip that will work for us and I have been unable to do so.Business Response

The future travel credit was transferred to a new reservation that was booked on 12/3/22.

I booked an original trip with them for $3600 that got canceled/postponed in 2020 & 2021 due to Covid. The travel voucher I received stated I had to rebook with same Airlines ( Delta) by April 2022 to travel by Dec 2022. I started calling & emailing GV from Nov 2021 to Mar 2022 with no response. I received an email stating all trips were postponed again due to Covid and that I could rebook by Dec 2022 to travel by Dec 2023. When I called to rebook in Nov 2022 for an August 2023 trip I was told my travel credit had expired and was not moved over to a voucher. They will not refund my money or allow me to book a trip. They are keeping $3600 of my money! I have proof of all email communication. This company is a scam!Business Response

We responded to our clients email on 11/15 to apologize for the confusion as their travel credit and required book by date was never updated due to a system issue.
Their travel portal was updated to reflect the correct travel credit amount, as well as their required book by and travel by date.

Our travel credit policy at the time of the unprecedented COVID crises aligned with policies put in place by similar online tour operators. We offered full travel credits despite whether a client had purchased travel insurance or not (which our client did not). Unfortunately, price fluctuations are not something we are able to avoid. Airlines, ******* car rental companies, and other services all change prices all the time. Many of them are raising prices in order to make up for lost revenue. For us to give the exact same vacation at the same amount (while prices have risen) would be like asking a gas station to sell gas at last years prices. All of our packages are designed to offer the best possible prices available at the time of quoting, but we do not control the rates for airlines and other services. All we can do is offer the best rates at the given time.
Regarding the required book by date, we were able to extend their date to 9/1/23.

My gripe is with Great Value Vacations. Reservation # ********** We are owed money and are unable to reach a live human being to resolve this issue. GVV is an online travel agency. Trips include air, hotels and rental car. We reserved a trip and paid extra for an automatic 4 -5 door "standard" car to be picked up at the ****** Enterprise location on **************** on June 15, 2022. Enterprise confirmation # *** *******. This car required a substantial upcharge in order to get automatic transmission and a larger (safer) size. I believe the upcharge was about $175. When we arrived at the Enterprise location in ******, they had no automatic nor "standard" sized cars. Our only option was a sub-compact car with a stick shift, in apalling condition with nearly bald tires that kept running out of air. My husband struggled to drive this car the ***** miles we toured the country, shifting left-handed, etc. It was a safety issue, to be honest. We are in our late 60's and it was exhausting for him. The car was a VV Golf license plate #*******. It would have been much easier with a larger, automatic car in ************. Upon our return to the U.S, we immediately contacted Great Value Vacations to get a refund for the upcharge we paid for a car we did not get. (Enterprise in ******* said they had been paid the upcharge but that since it was a "pre-paid voucher", any refund would have to come from Great Value Vacations.) If you call CVV, you can speak a person to book a trip. But, if you have an issue or problem, you need to apply by email only. We did that - twice - FOUR months ago. No response whatsoever. We are owed the upcharge amount for the car we did not recieve. You can not speak to a live person to resolve a problem! GVV owes us this money. Can you help us get it back? Thanks so much.Business Response

We're sorry to learn that you had an issue with your rental car. We did respond to your initial email (albeit late) to ask if this was still an issue as you were expecting to hear from the car rental company. Note that if clients have an issue outside of our call center hours they are prompted to email us via the 'Help' tab on our website. When the reservation number is entered the system automatically recognizes if a client is currently traveling or traveling soon. These inquiries are then directed to our 'Emergency Desk'. It is apparent that your inquiry with the car rental company is not resolved so we have reached out to them on your behalf. We will follow up with you directly via email.

Better Business Bureau:
I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID# ********, and have determined that my complaint has NOT been resolved because:Great Value Vacation's response to our complaint, in my opinion, was not truthful. We did not find an email from Greaat Valley Vacations resulting from our first or second written complaint. If they say they sent us an email, what was the date? We are unable to locate it. We have searched on our inboxes and junk mail inboxes carefully. The only email we got from GVV was after we sent a complaint to the BBB. We explained to Great Value Vacations that we needed a refund from them. The car rental company (Enterprise) told us clearly that they could not refund money to us, since we had paid through GVV. It was Great Value Vacation's job to refund us the money and then go about trying to get the money from Enterprise. I don't understand GVV's statement about call center hours in their response to us after our letter to BBB. It is not relevant, in my opinion, to our case. We did call during regular business hours and were told that any complaint needed to go through email, which is exactly what we did. I'm sure that GVV can find the recording of the call to verify this. When we got no response after a reasonable time, we re-submitted the complaint, following the directions given to us. Again, no response that we could find. And, most definitely, no refund of any kind. We would like the money we spent for an upgrade that was a separate charge for an automatic tranmission, standard-sized car. We don't ask for any more, just the amount of that upcharge. The car we got, as I detailed in my original complaints (with license number, address, etc.) was neither standard sized, nor did it have an automatic transmission. It caused a safety issue for us, as my husband struggled with the narrow roads of ******* with a sub-compact car, shifting with his left hand, going "backwards" through one roundabout after another, and driving on the left side of the road. If CVV is going to charge what I consider a large sum of money for an upcharge on a car, they need to refund the customer if that car is not available a the rental car location. It's really that simple.

Issue with Great Value Vacations confirmation code ********* Issue: ******** ***************** When I received my travel vouchers, they were much different than the trip I booked and paid for. First of all, the hotel changed and upon reviewing information about *************, I am very disappointed with this change. The reviews of *************, *********************, show multiple complaints of bed bugs, very dirty rooms and bad customer service. I would like to request to be moved back to the original hotel which was booked, ********** ******** as this hotel was researched and one of the main reasons we booked this trip. We have also arranged non-refundable transportation from this hotel, based on it being the location originally listed on the trip and itinerary.additionally, the vouchers received show a dinner cruise in November 3. The original documentation received showed this event on November 4. As a result of the information which was originally provided, we have booked a very expensive non-refundable dinner reservation on November 3 for my fiancs birthday. It was very surprising and disappointing to see these changes upon receipt of the travel vouchers. Due to my detrimental reliance on the information you previously provided, I have made a substantial financial commitment which is non-refundable. I feel you should make the revisions back to the original itinerary which was provided and utilized to make these reservations. If you are unable ti make these changes, I will seek reimbursement of these charges and any legal recourse which is available. As stated before. These changes are very disappointing and have really taken some of the excitement we have about our upcoming trip to *****.Business Response

In June 2022 we purchased a trip to ******, ******* that included the 'cancel for any reason' travel insurance. We were supposed to leave for ****** on September 13 for a 6 night stay in ******. ** September 8 Queen ********************* died. All of our tours that were booked were cancelled. We decided due to the Queen's death it would be best to postpone our trip so since we had purchased the travel insurance we decided to cancel the trip and go at a later date. I emailed Great Value Vacations with our decision. They did not tell me that we would not be refunded or credited for the airline tickets. So Great Value Vacations kept $1800 of our money even though we had purchased the travel insurance. We were not made aware of this when we purchased the trip and insurance either. Great Value Vacations needs to give us credit for the remainder of what we paid for the trip. We do not expect a credit for the amount spent to buy the insurance but we do expect to be credited the full amount for the trip itself.Business Response

On October 18th we were scheduled to take a Ferry from Santorini back to ****** ******. When we arrived in the lobby at 11am for our 11:10am transfer pick up, the hotel staff told us the ferry had been canceled. They then said they didn't have any other information for us about next steps and we would need to check back in a few hours. While we waited I tried to contact the local tour company but the number provided was invalid. I then sent an email to GVV. We then ****** searched for a valid number and when we got a hold of someone they said the same thing, they didn't have any info for us but would contact us.A few hours go by and we call the hotel and the tour company, no new info. Couple more hours same thing. Couple more hours and the local tour company said they tried to call and that there was a charter plane leaving in 1 hour for $210 per person. At this time we weren't at the hotel and didn't have enough time to get back for the plane. We were never notified by anyone of this charter plane even though we had been calling every couple hours. GVV and the local tour company didn't nothing to try and accommodate us. I also never received an email or any sort of communication about the change to itinerary. This cause us to miss our hotel stay in ****** that we had paid for.Business Response

I booked a trip under Reservation **********. Gvv canceled my trip due to COVID-19 and stated that they would only allow future travel credit and I only could fly using the airlines that I had booked in my original trip. I checked and found that prices had skyrocketed. I filed a complaint with BBB and was told in response by GVV that I should wait as they were working out a new travel deal with groupon. That never happened. I received an email that I would lose the portion of the trip that covered my flight, even though the rep confirmed that the airline refunded them that cost. Then I received an email stating I must book or lose the entire amount paid. All the while, Europe was still not allowing US travelers in to their country. GVV, you played this pandemic to your benefit at every turn. The White ***** issued an order to travel agencies demanding that you refund money to travelers that had their trips cancelled. You ignored that to preserve your own assets and have been taking advantage of your customers at every step. I will file in small claims court and will speak with my local representative about options for complaint if you do not provide some sort of arrangement in this matter. I have tried several times to speak with an agent and seems that there is always a 2+ hr backlog. One time I called and was told that there was a 5 hr wait. This is ridiculous and I feel scammed. How GVV has a B+ rating is beyond me. They took $2200 of my money, cancelled my trip, and now that covid restrictions are gone, they are trying to cut all obligations to make good on either the services or refund.Business Response

The package they originally booked was a heavily discounted package but we do offer similar deals listed in our Limited Time Offers tab. Our client had the option to purchase a new vacation and pay the difference but they decided to wait.
On 7/5/21 they were advised that we did not receive a refund for their flights and they were required to book by the end of July 31 2021 on AY and travel by March 31, 2022 or they would lose the air credit in the amount of ****** per person.
Our recent wait time to speak to an agent was less than 5 minutes.
Even though their travel credit expired, we will make an exception to offer the land portion as a future travel credit, but the travel credit cannot be used until after 1/1/23.

Our son booked a trip with Great Value Vacations for $6,000 which included travel insurance. In March 2020 the trip was call off by GVV when international borders were closed to travel due to Covid. Rather than cancel the trip and refund the money, GVV issued only a credit. All trips must be booked by the end ******************************* 2023. There are several problem with this scenario. 1) Our son no longer is in a position to travel but *** refuses to issue a refund. 2) Our son will gift the credit to his brother which is allowed. But there is scarce availability of trips and many are not available at all beyond February 2023. 3) GVV has no acceptable response regarding availability of trips. It is October 2022. If a trip is not available by the end of the year, GVV will keep our sons $6,000. This is truly fraud.Customer Answer

My son, *************************** booked a trip to ****** through Great Value Vacations (GVV) for himself and his girlfriend for May 1, 2020 through May 11, 2020. The booking number was *** *******
GVV strongly encouraged the purchase of travel insurance through General Global Assistance, Trip Mate which was listed on their website. He did purchase the insurance as recommended. The insurance plan number is *****. In total, he paid $6,018.41 which included payment for the trip as well as the travel insurance. In March, 2020, the governments in ******* and ****** restricted travel both into and out of their countries due to Covid. At that point, GVV canceled our trip stating that they were giving a travel credit. We were unable to reschedule this trip for any other date, therefore a request was made for reimbursement. This request was denied with the explanation that the trip was postponed, not canceled. In reality, this trip was not postponed, it was canceled. He had purchased the travel insurance for the purpose of reimbursement in the event that a situation such as this might occur. The government mandated shutdown of an airport or border was listed as an acceptable reason for cancellation and refund for any reason.
Our son absolutely can no longer travel. He has filed an appeal with no success. The Attorney Generals offices in ******, New York and ****** have been copied.
At this point, he feels that GVV committed fraud by encouraging purchase of the travel insurance and refusing to cancel the trip. In addition, there is limited availability of trips for rescheduling (should he gift the trip to his brother). We believe that he should have received a refund. Their actions were wrong. But rather than receiving a refund, he would give the $6,000 away. GVV should absolutely not keep the money.
