Between December 2023 and January 5, 2024, ******************* (co-owner) of Keep It Running Automotive located ************************************************************************* made a Mechanics Agreement (verbal) between myself, himself and my daughter to do repairs on her 2016 Cadillac, where he would get paid $1500 for labor and I will supply the parts which were Engine, Turbo, Radiator and Battery. We supplied the parts and we paid him $2,000 in cash which his sister wrote in his presence and gave to me. I picked up my Equinox from there as it was in an accident. He told me and my daughter that when I receive the insurance money to fix my equinox, i can use some of that insurance money to pay for the labor on the Cadillac. I said ok, because i didnt know that one could do that, but he said yes. he got the parts and he began working on the cadillac, during all that time until 03/06/2024, he kept delaying handing over the car. he said that the car wasnt ready, that the car was not starting, that he dont have the time to test drive the car, that it needed a few little parts and he cant get them. I asked him what parts so that i can order them myself, he didnt answer me, but asked someone to call me to say that i owe him $4750 for labor and parts. Parts which i bought and supplied to him. I heard from a previous employee that it is not the first time he has done this before to customers and that he is in the courts for insurance fraud and stiffing customers. ***** that he called the cops say that i stole my own car off his premises because i owe him money. He is a thief.

    Business Response

    Date: 04/16/2024

My name is ******************* , I'm writing today to respond to ************************************* complaint .

Practically what she did with ** was a deception. I believe this is a perfect example of a misunderstanding. At this time, we were working on two of ******************** vehicles. She is confused about the initial deposit. This deposit received was agreed to cover the engine replacement work, however, she used this deposit receipt to cover the money that she owed for the repair of her other vehicle we were fixing. The receipt that we had given her for the first deposit, that is what she is using to say that she already paid for the repairs, we worked on replacing the engine, but she did not pay us anything for labor .  We feel as is she has cheated us . In the end when the car was finished she argued the bill and soon after she decided to steal the car from ************ using a spare key , doing this without no final agreements.

The insurance company paid the insured directly and informed her to pay us with the funds sent . When she came to us she claimed that she didn't have enough money to cover the cost of the repairs  , that's why she decided to use the deposit money to cover the final payments for the work done.

More so importantly , the manner in which ********** and her daughter raced out of our parking lot was dangerous and frightening  , our security system confirms ********** and her daughter dangerously speeding off, not far off from hitting my daughter and I with her car on their way out of the parking lot .

We take pride in providing our customers with excellent service and honest communication , we do apologize for any miscommunication we may have had with ********** . However we still are out of this money that is owed for our services and look forward to coming to a mutual agreement. Please contact us if any further information is needed.

    Thank you ,

    Better Business Bureau:

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID# ********, and have determined that my complaint has NOT been resolved because:

The business man  ************* is lying about everything that he stated because that was not how the agreement was.  As i stated in my original claim, i bring the material and pay him only for labor which was agreed at $1500.  Howeverhe got $2000 in cash as he said there might be a small part that he might have to purchase.  When i gave him the money for the car in question i didnt receive the insurance money for the other car as the check was not cleared yet.  He stated that the car in question was fixed, it wasn't because after I took the car from there, I had to put it on a tow truck to the dealer who still has the car waiting on the manufacturer/bank to decide what to do about the car as we received an estimate of repairs amounting to almost $4000 in parts only.  The left front door actuator is damaged, the tire sensor is damaged, the catalytic converter need replacing, the transmission is damaged.  Therefore I have no money to pay these people as they claimed they had finished fixing the car.
