Ordered for the 1st time recently. An Ayate bath strip. I used it 2 times, went away for the weekend and came home and found it covered with black and brown areas. I emailed the company and was told I could get a full refund and then they asked for a pix. After looking at it, they said it was fungus and my fault it developed. I had done nothing other than use the product. They offered me a $10 credit which I turned down. I threw it out and will never order from this company again. Buyer beware! They don't care about the customer and offer a terrible quality of service.

I ordered one time about 4 years ago. Out of the blue, I receive an auto renew and shipment notification. Luckily they have an old credit card and it was declined. ****!

*********. Walk (run) ******** is Public Goods allowed to charge your card AFTER youve opted out of their services? This is a predatory business practice, and the company is an absolute scam. Do not purchase from them. They will store your credit card information and charge you hoping that you will not see it. Absolute fail. I purchased from the company and then cancelled the annual subscription with the help of customer service. On two occasions Ive received a notification that I have been charged $79 for their annual membership, which I DID NOT sign up for. The notifications were from my bank NOT the public goods website on email prior to the charge. No forewarning to decline the membership charge or skip. They waited ONE YEAR after cancellation of the first $79 charge to do it AGAIN. Thats how you know PUBLIC GOODS IS A SCAM.On both occasions, I reached out to them letting them know that I did NOT renew for an annual subscription and would like a refund. They continued to offer me a perk of keeping the membership (???). Interesting. After declining, they did refund my account at least once, and I am waiting for the second to come through allegedly in 5-10 business days.

This made me so angry: just brought an item years ago and now this garbage platform became a subscription! This is blatant fraud

Scammers. I am here to echo what many have said. They have been charging my card annually for a membership I never signed on for-- I bought one item from them in 2021. I wouldn't have even noticed the annual charge except for some reason, in 2025, they sent out a placid email letting me know my annual membership had been renewed for $79 (other years they charged my card, but no email). Besides a confirmation of my purchase in 2021 and a few marketing emails over the years, I have not received anything alerting me to their shady practice or my supposed membership with them. I demanded they cancel my account and give me a refund for the 79 they just took. But there are three other years they owe me for as well. If you really want to make this right, refund every membership fee over the years, none of which I consented to. Maybe you consider it a thing of beauty that your scam company refers to public goods. Oh my god!!!!!!!

I have been using products from Public Goods for about 9 months now. This brand has all the criteria for me. Lack of bad ingredients, minimalist aesthetic, good prices, and eco-conscious. I use everything from here. I am a fan of their personal care products and tree-free paper products. My wife loves their ramen and tampons. Everything is simple, great, and I love that most is refillable. I'm shocked that their ratings are so bad. I read through them before I bought anything and went in with some trepidation. I saw people always said they had no idea they would be charged an annual fee and that was a vast majority of it. When I put my order in, they have a few things explicitly stating they will charge the card an annual membership. You cannot continue with the order without clicking a checkbox acknowledging the annual membership. That was at the start of 2024. Read what you click. The membership isn't the cheapest per se but if you use their stuff often like i do, it pays for itself rather quickly. Overall I am happy about their products and I will continue using them. If you stick with it and are willing to pay the subscription, then go for it!

I have had the exact issue as everyone below - I had no idea I had an account, received an alert for a $79 membership charge and reported it as fraudulent and then had to go through the whole process of getting a new card a few days ago.I just got another alert on my NEW card of attempted fraud - unclear how they would even be able to access my new card. I've tried to login to my account but I never get a password reset email or have any way to access whatever "account" I didn't know I had.

I paid for my order but was charged additional an annual membership fee $79 in which I didn't signed up for - 2nd year billed me again for a membership fee. Phoned Public Goods a few times no one answers: If they send me a package inwhich I DID NOT ORDER - I WILL MARK PACKAGE - RETURN TO SENDER - ADRESSEE REFUSE PACKAGE - PLEASE DO NOT RE-SEND!!! Now I guess I have to be on the look out watching my bank statement so that my banker will remove this annual charge. I can buy paper towels at my local store. I feel this is not good business practice. Beware...

Terrible business practices. They have tried to charge me a membership year after year and I have reported the charge as fraud because I do not have an account nor a membership. I got a new credit card and new account, and they still charged me the next year. I have to dispute every year. I do not have an account, and I do not have a membership. They refuse to cooperate with disputes about the "membership."

I've been a customer for the past 2 years. Generally high quality products that look great in my bathroom and kitchen. Really like their sustainability focus. Have had some issues with shipping recently but customer service resolved everything quickly. Do wish the membership was cheaper.
