I am writing to file a formal complaint regarding a serious issue involving MeritShot, Teachable, and Affirm.**Background:**- I was misled into signing up for the MeritShot course under the belief it was free for 45 days and cancellable anytime.- During sign-up, I was asked to enter a one-time password (OTP) and the last 4 digits of my SSN, which resulted in an unauthorized Affirm loan.- I canceled the course (next day i sent email to meritshot) within the stated trial period and MeritShot processed a **partial refund**.- However, the remaining balance was **not refunded**, and I was informed that Teachable handles payment processing.- I have since been **harassed daily by Affirm**, and now by **January **** Collection**, despite having no remaining responsibility.I sent couple of emails to tachable and Affirm about this i'm not responsible.I reached out meritshot people through whatsapp they told they refunded but teachable not refunding. I have attempted to resolve this directly with all parties without success, and now seek your assistance to mediate this dispute, obtain a full refund, and stop unlawful debt collection harassment.Attached are copies of email correspondences and supporting documents.Thank you for your time and assistance.Customer Answer

I am an independant business owner always working to get my business of the ground. I had not been utilizing teachable for the past year but still have content there. Four nights ago I decided to access my content to work on it and market it to my following. I realized I had been using Teachable with an old email that I no longer have access to. I couldn't log on.I emailed Teachable right away (Tuesday night) and they responded on Thursday asking for information I had given them in the original email. We have gone back and forth for two more days with no help. They continue to send me emails for stack skills which I have nothing to do with. I can't access my content or I would copy paste it on to another platform. They do not listen to my emails and instead respond with repetative responses that don't help me. It's a very simple problem but they have not fixed it and now they will not respond for the entire weekend so I am left without any hope of accessing my content. There is no way to speak live to anyone and they take hours or days between each email and then with no solution. This is the most frustrated I have ever been with a customer service from any platform that I have ever dealt with. I would recommend that no one ever utilize this platform as you can not get help when there is a stumbling block.Initial Complaint

I am an educator using Teachables platform to sell my online course titled StreetSmart Finance: Building Your Path to ***********. According to my Teachable dashboard, I have generated $3,826 in total sales, with $3,342 listed as my earnings. There are no refunds, chargebacks, or affiliate deductions associated with my account. The largest transaction occurred on October 28, 2024, where a student purchased my course for $3,825.38, and Teachable recorded $3,341.73 as my earnings from that sale.I have fully complied with all Teachable policies, including:Submitting all required tax documentation Verifying my payout method Remaining in good standing with zero policy violations Despite all of this, Teachable has not paid me the funds owed, and I have received no communication or resolution. I have attempted to contact support through appropriate channels but have not received any actionable response.I am filing this BBB complaint in good faith to request:Immediate release of my $3,342 earnings Written explanation of any issue that may have caused the delay Clarification on their payout practices and how this situation will be prevented going forward I am attaching evidence (dashboard screenshot) of the earnings and sales for reference. I expect a timely and professional resolution to this matter.Customer Answer

Our company has been targeted by individuals claiming to be affiliated with this company, sending what are evidently scam emails. His name is **** ******, and upon our research, his real name is ******* ******. He started sending us emails to our personal email addresses. After blocking those, similar emails began arriving at our company email address. We have no relationship with this scammer and have never done business with him. There is no unsubscribe link or clear way to stop the emails. The pattern and content of such emails raise serious concerns about potentially deceptive or scam-like practices. We are in the process of filing formal complaints with the BBB and also the appropriate consumer protection agencies to report this activity and prevent further targeting of other individuals or businesses. In addition, we have been told to inform the domain registrar to take further action.Customer Answer

We opened a Teachable account in march and uploaded our coaching Our verified Stripe account was properly connected a setup weve used seamlessly on other platforms. over a month ago, we received a notice that our funds have been frozen, and more information was needed to reinstate it. First, we were told ****** verification was needed we provided it. Then, we were asked for personal information including government ID, social media handles, and questions about fulfillment and acquisition channels we provided everything, and heard nothing back. Every attempt to get clarity has been met with automated responses or being passed around with no resolution. every time we submit a new ticket to get assistance, we get hit with a notification saying "It looks like you have a few tickets on the same subject to keep things organized, I'll be merging this ticket into the ticket you already have open. We'll have a reply for you there, and we can continue to correspond via that thread. As a note, this merged ticket will be marked as "solved" in our system, but we can assure you that we'll continue to work with you Thanks for your patience, and see you there!" this has happened multiple times and we still have yet to receive a response on this matter.on march 15th we received a transaction of $4000 from a student and To date, Teachable has refused to release the funds, offering zero transparency and inconsistent reasoning. teachables payout period is 48 hours after transaction occurs (thats also what it was for all other transactions)Weve tried multiple live chats and emails over the last month and have yet to receive any clear explanation. At this point, this is looking more like deliberate withholding of funds than a system issue. If this is not resolved immediately, we will escalate legally and pull our programs off your platform permanently.Initial Complaint

Business Name: Teachable, Inc.Complaint Type: Billing/Collection Issue Desired Outcome: Stop the ongoing billing error, reimburse lost revenue, and confirm resolution for the affected student and any others impacted.Complaint Summary:Several months ago, a student enrolled in my Teachable course using a monthly payment plan. As usual, Teachable charged tax but in this case, they charged it twice:The first charge was correct tax added on top of the course fee.The second tax was wrongly deducted from my revenue, reducing my payout. This happens every month, and has continued for several billing cycles. I initially contacted support, and they eventually admitted the error and said it would be fixed but it never was. The double deduction continues.Since then, Ive followed up several times and received inconsistent, unhelpful responses. On my last attempt via live chat, the *** disconnected without resolving the issue or following up.This issue is not isolated. I've also faced other Teachable platform problems including surprise policy changes, file link disruptions, and poor support all of which are making it harder to run my business.Requested Resolution:Stop the incorrect tax deduction on future payments.Reimburse all revenue lost from this error.Provide written confirmation that the issue is resolved and wont happen again.I should also note that this billing issue is just one of several ongoing problems Ive experienced on the platform in recent years, worsening over time. These ***eated issues indicate a concerning lack of reliability and accountability, and have made it increasingly difficult to run my business effectively through Teachable, which I have built over 9 years, making it difficult to easily move to another platform as they continue to change their policies away from hosting and more towards gatekeeping creators' personal content. Also noteworthy is that Teachable is the only business I have such issues with.Customer Answer

We are a well-established educational company operating in the Italian market. After choosing Teachable as our platform to manage course payments and host our programs, we are extremely disappointed with the service received. Our funds have been blocked by Teachable since January 30, 2025, without any explanation, request for documentation, or further clarification. We have not been informed of the reason behind this block, the scope or duration of any internal checks, or when the situation is expected to be resolved. We want to emphasize that we have always promptly submitted all required documentation and that we are fully compliant with all regulations. We also provided evidence, attached to ticket #******, that ****** has confirmed we are fully verified and in good standing. In fact, we continue to receive payments through ****** without issue, which further proves the block is unjustified.Despite our efforts, Teachable's customer support has been completely unresponsive. We have contacted the ticket system multiple times a day, every day, and have also reached out through live chat. However, there has been no update on the ticket for over 30 days. The live chat refers us back to the ticket, but provides no concrete ******* a reliable and professional business, we expect transparency, accountability, and supportnone of which have been provided in this case. This situation has severely undermined our trust in Teachable and is now negatively impacting our operations. We respectfully ask BBB to assist in facilitating a resolution to this issue as soon as possible.Customer Answer

I am reaching out to request the cancellation of my contract with the teachable service. I need assistance because I wish to cancel my subscription due to not utilizing the service. Unfortunately, I cannot proceed with the cancellation on my own as I do not have access to do so. I do not wish to make the payment scheduled for May 24. Please stop the payment immediately and halt any future billing requests. I request that the cancellation of my subscription be processed promptly to ensure no future payments are made.Initial Complaint

I am filing this complaint against Teachable, Inc. due to their failure to issue a single payout since I began using their platformdespite collecting over $7,272 in sales.I made my first transaction on March 2, 2025, and to date (April 18, 2025), I have not received any payout from Teachable. My account is fully verified, all tax documents have been submitted, and there are no known policy violations or disputes.I have contacted Teachable support multiple times with no resolution. The responses I have received (if any) have been vague and have failed to provide a timeline or explanation. This delay is creating financial hardship, as I rely on these funds to operate my business.Per Teachables own policy, payouts should occur within a reasonable timeframe, and holding funds without cause or communication for nearly 7 weeks is unacceptable and potentially unlawful.Initial Complaint

We opened a Teachable account in February and uploaded a course onto their platform. We also linked our ****** account which they use as their third party payment provider (we have been using our verified Stripe account for some time now and linked it to their platform). On March 28th, we received our first payment of $8,250.00USD and on April 11th we received a second payment of the same amount. To date, Teachable will not release our payments with no indication as to when they will do so and no explanation as to why. We keep getting the runaround from them, being passed from person to person and unable to speak with a manager. At one point they said it was due to them needing our Stripe verification which we provided, and at another point they requested all of our personal information including social media handles, government ID etc, all of which were provided and never acknowledged. They are also withholding an 8.25% US sales tax on top of the Stripe fee and their own transaction fee which we should not be entitled to pay being a virtual company operating in ****** (this was confirmed by our cross-border CPA).After numerous attempts at live chats and emails with them, they continue to withhold our funds without explanation or reply. We are beginning to think that this is a fraudulent company and will be pulling our programs from their platform just as soon as we can finally have our funds released to us. It has been an exasperating process for several weeks now.Business Response
