Three weeks ago I opened up an account with Gemini and transferred $1000 to buy Ethereum to make some purchases with it. I waited 3 days for my funds to clear but when I try to withdraw a small amount of my Ethereum I only get a message that their security team needs to review the transaction. I contacted support (ticket ID ******** and was asked to take a selfie with the date and my ticket id written down. After that nothing happened and I've been checking in with support every few days via email and also through their their ******* support account. No response at all. My account is frozen and in the meantime they are advertising through ******* that all crypto is available for withdrawal. It's been a few weeks now.Business Response

First, my goal is to return to full functionality of my exchange account and reactivating my credit card for use immediately. On 11/18/2022 I learned that my Gemini exchange account was unable to transfer my crypto assets to approved wallets due to a security hold on my account. I also learned that my new Gemini credit card was suspended, which reportedly was due to the exchange security hold. I completed the required task of uploading a selfie with the date and ticket number: ******* the day I finally received instructions from the ineffective email communication, ********************************* I wrote this support email daily and called daily the Gemini credit card for solutions and instructions on hire to resolve these issues. It has now been over two weeks. This resulted in late charges on scheduled auto withdrawals linked to the credit card, in addition to general nuisance. To protect my money I was able to liquidate my crypto assets, ask but one, and initiate withdrawal of cash. I also reduced security to ease management of my assets to try and avoid more sending actions from Gemini ****** to new crypto wallets. Finally, I paid the small balance on my credit card in good faith hoping this might help clear any suspicions Gemini may have had. Again, my aim is to simply have full function, without nuisance security holds, on my exchange account, AND activation of my Gemini credit card. My name is ********************************I have all of my life savings through this exchange. This is an earn account and I have an open account with them for over 15 months now. My current balance is ********* dollars. I withdrew my money last 11/14 and only $1 went through, the remaining balance is still pending. It shows that funds are available by 11/22 or earlier. On 11/16 they announced that they will pause all withdrawals because they need to figure out something with ******* (their lending partner). I have reached out to them many times. I kept getting automated response through their email. I have not being able to sleep, I cannot afford to lose my money. I have thought about ending my life a few times the past few days.That's all the money I have under my name, I have worked really hard for that money. On 9/9/2022 Gemini received my ach deposit of $5000.00 I was told there is a security hold on the funds and they would be released on 9/12 I attempted to withdraw my funds on 9/12 but Gemini stated that I needed my id verified which I uploaded and sent to them on 9/13 they told me they received the upload and they would get back to me once they hear from there team.This is the last correspondence I got from Gemini I have sent several emails inquiring what is the problem and have simply been ignored no one from Gemini will respond to any of my emails.now my account is down to $4000.00 and I can't be get my funds it's been over 60 days and not one word from Gemini they won't respond at all to my emails.Business Response

I have been a member of Gemini Crypto exchange since 2018. I have been fully verified on the exchange with no issues. I tried to withdraw funds and was met with a security hold. I reached out to customer service and days later received support Ticket ID: ******* was advised I needed to upload a picture of my face with Driver License, Date, and ticket ID. I did all of this since then I have heard 0 response its been a week now. I have sent ***** emails, reached out to reddit gemini support, ******* support for them and my account was still security blocked. I have since ACH all funds from account and funds are in a pending status still. This company is holding us citizen funds hostage with 0 communication.Business Response

My funds have been frozen for weeks without cause or communication from Gemini. On 10/20/22 I received an email from Gemini (#*******) asking for documentation to verify my source of wealth. I provided them with a copy of my tax return. Then they asked for a selfie and ID verification, which I also provided. They asked more questions about my account, which I responded to until support completely stopped responding to me on 11/03/22. As of today, my account is still locked with "Account Hold: Please respond to our latest inquiry". I created a new support ticket on 11/09/22 (#*******), again they asked for selfie and ID verification which I provided. This ticket was allegedly escalated and again, I have not received a response, after following up 5 times now. I am beyond words on how abysmal this experience has been for me. If this BBB complaint does not lead to me having access to my funds, I will be making complaints to the New ********************* of ********* Services, the SEC, and pursuing all further action until this is resolved.Business Response
