After a water damage incident, we hired ******* to rip out the damage but also for the repairs. Considering their motto is “like it never even happened,” we thought we could trust them. I want to specify I believe their tear out crew did a decent job. Initially, the construction manager submitted an estimate to our insurance without even coming to our house to look at what was torn out. He just submitted it based on a report from the tear out crew. This resulted in a dispute between ******* and our Insurance that put the restoration project behind by a couple weeks and the estimate was way off based on the small job that needed done. At this point there was a giant hole in our kitchen ceiling leading up to our unfinished 2nd floor. September was half over, I was due to have a baby in 6 weeks and we were concerned that we wouldn’t be able to turn our heat on with a giant hole in the ceiling. After talking to the operations manager, they figured out the estimate, our insurance paid us and ******* got to work. After 5 weeks a job that should have taken a week at most was still not done. The construction manager still had not come to our home and the guys doing the job were young and inexperienced. I had to stay home from work for them to be here working and some days they didn’t show up at all and when they did, they would work for a total of 4 hours. I then asked them not to come back because they were ruining our house. It was done all wrong. We had to hire another company to come in, finish the job and fix what they had done. They also punctured a big hole in our wall while they were here and broke 2 of our kitchen tiles. Because we had to bring in another crew to undo their work and fix the damage they caused, I am seeking payment in the amount of $650. This covers the cost of all extra material to fix the bad job ******* did, but also to account for the extra day and a half of labor we had to pay for for them to undo ********* awful work.

Due to weather events, the construction manager isn’t able to make it onsite to every job in the winter, nor is he required to.  Our estimating software is the industry standard for property restoration for restoration contractors and insurance companies alike.  It contains a price list that is published by the software company on a monthly basis.  ******* does not set the prices.  Occasionally we encounter an insurance company that does not use the industry standard software.  It is important to note that all reputable insurance companies use *********.  We are also not allowed to charge for drive time, and this job was a long drive for our crew. I originally declined the job due to distance and the insufficient payment to the policy holder by the insurance company.  However, we took the job in an attempt to help alleviate the conditions in which the home owners were living.  Mrs. **** ********* called our office and explained that she was 8 months pregnant and would have no heat soon without repairs to her property. We decided to try. We are only allowed to make 10% profit on a repair job.  We sometimes cannot perform services for the price that some insurance companies offer to pay because we would lose money.  I was informed that two tiles were damaged during the demolition process (a separate crew form the construction crew) which I agreed to have my construction staff repair at no cost.  The scope of work on this job was what was in question the last time we had contact with the policy holder.  The policyholder indicated they were told that not everything on the scope of work was completed.  At this point we agreed to remove line items from the invoice.  It was at this point that last contact with the home owner.  We were not trying to contact the homeowner at this time, due to her baby being born.  We were not made aware of any dissatisfaction with the work that had already been completed.  As a result, ******* has had no chance to rectify the situation.  Again, the only problem ******* was aware of was the scope of work which we already agreed to discount.  We have not billed the original amount to my knowledge.  We have not spoken with the homeowners since that time.   As of 2/27/23 We have not even provided a bill to be reduced or supplied an invoice to the ************** household. We have reduced the invoice by $650 which we have agreed.  Today 2/28/23 we will be supplying the invoice with the requested $650 deduction for the work completed last September.  The invoice is due upon receipt. We appreciate this invoicing oversight being brought to our attention. Another company was brought in to address homeowner concerns without ******* being notified there were issues to be addressed. We should have been the first to be notified of concerns so that problems could have been rectified by *******. Sending a complaint to the BBB first and hiring another contractor to complete our work is not reasonable, when ******* was not aware of the issue.  We have attached a copy of the invoice with the $650 deduction.   Renee ****** ******Operations Manager******* of Jamestown/Olean

Better Business Bureau:  I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID ********, and have determined that this does not resolve my complaint.  For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below. With the crew not showing up during scheduled times, the work being done improperly, the company providing an inaccurate estimate and the workers telling us they would be unable to finish the job, we told them not to come back. We let the crew know that we were going to bring another company in, we let Steve and CJ both know, and I emailed Renee at the office about the matter twice and got no response from anyone until I filed this complaint with the BBB. Now the company wants to charge us after we had to pay another company to undo and fix the little amount of work that ******* of Jamestown did.   Regards,  **** ****
