I contacted several local movers to help with my move. I contacted Strong Hands to get a quote, and sent a deposit for their services. I was also contact by a company called Big Strong Back. I should also explain that I have a brain tumor, and often information is difficult to process. On my moving day, the movers arrived, packed up my things, took them to my location. Then when I went to pay for their services, it was significantly cheaper than I expected. They also had no knowledge of my deposit. I discovered that I had hired the 2nd company, Big Strong Back. The gentleman at Big Strong Back explained that this happens a lot. That his company gets mistaken for the other and vice versa. The first company, which I had paid the deposit to, came the day after my move. I did recall schedule a move with more than one company. When I contacted Strong Hands to see about a partial refund for the deposit, the company denied it. The deposit was $361.50, quite a lot for someone like myself on a limited income. I would of course be willing to pay for the mileage and gas, and even the time wasted by the movers that showed. I feel that it is in no way worth $360.50. I signed no contract for the deposit. When denied I was told it was non-refundable. That it was my responsibility to cancel their services. When I explained the situation to them, they still denied the partial refund. I am making an attempt to contact and report this so that other do not fall for the same scheme that I did.

This customer hired Strong Hands to help with his move. There were several phone calls and communication regarding the details and scheduling.  He paid his deposit, and his job was added to the schedule blocking other job from being added. The commute was an hour away and a 3man crew had been scheduled for his requested date.On the day of his move the 3 men arrived on time as scheduled.  When the customer was called, he stated he had moved the day before with another company. At no point in time did the customer call or communicate with us to let us know he wished to cancel our services or that he had moved. The deposit barely covered our cost for mileage/fuel and commute time for the 3 men.Our policy is that deposits are not refunded within 72 hours of the job and there is a cancelation fee if it is done sooner to cover the administrative costs.

On Apr 13 I received an estimate from Stronghands to move from a 2 bedroom rental in Trumansburg, NY to a 3 bedroom house in Spencer, NY. Services were itemized with associated fees, totaling $1040 plus $83.20 tax. The quote seemed legitimate and professional. To secure a spot on the calendar, I was required to pay 20% down as a security deposit of $224.64. My receipt shows a payment date of April 29 from my credit card. After postponing original move date, the scheduler and I agreed on June 13, 2021, at 9:00 a.m. June 13, 2021 arrived; Stronghands never showed nor contacted. I called & texted a couple of days prior to the 13th to confirm; never got a return response. In calling on the 13th after the scheduled appointment and "no show", the number was unreachable. I had to secure a different moving company to vacate my rental. On June 15 via email, a Stronghands' employee had no explanation, but would refer full refund of deposit to Accounting. No company phone/contact since.
