We hired this company to install a concrete step. They did, but it was faulty. We contacted them and the owner said he would come back out in a couple weeks to repair it, because he agreed it was faulty. He has since ignored all forms of communication and has not been in touch. This was six months ago.

Empire Construction, CNY, Cortland, NY This contractor is incompetent, dishonest, and apathetic. He pays no attention to the requirements of the contract and does very shoddy work He does not listen to customer concerns. He makes verbal promises and then ignores them. Background: this was a rehabilitation project of an old house. Faulty installation of a ***** door. A ***** door did not fit resulting in a 20-inch opening between the end of the door and the ground, thereby defeating the weather-proofing purpose of the door. The picture of the initial build is below. After much discussion, this problem was remedied with a 20-inch wall at the top of the door. The correct procedure was to install an extension to the door so that it would fit properly to the ground. This is not safe and does not meet the requirements of the contract: “Repair the stone steps going to the basement by making them level and the same height and width”. 2. The contract reads “provide weather stripping for the kitchen windows”. See the final work below. 3. Contractor charged $6,700 for lead paint abatement. An assessment report from a different company showed that there was no lead paint problem in the house. No work was done, yet the charge was still made. 4. Contractor tried to install a defective GDFI resulting in an outage in three light fixtures. Customer needed to call an outside electrician to fix the problem. 5. Customer chose the laminate floor. Contractor instead bought a cheaper product which was on sale. 6 .The contracted indicated a “lockset” for the main door. Instead, the contractor replaced the existing knob with an identical one. There was no problem with the existing one - a waste of materials and money. 7. Installation of light fixture: 8. Reinstallation of closet door after flooring was installed:
