Thank you for bringing your concerns to our attention. We understand the frustration and inconvenience caused by the delay in your customs clearance, particularly given the additional costs associated with demurrage fees.
Unfortunately, the extended timeline was due to a customs examination and subsequent delays caused by holiday shortages at USCBP and other agencies . These factors, while beyond our control, directly impacted the release of your shipment.
As a customs broker, we are committed to facilitating the clearance process as efficiently as possible. However, it is important to note that any actions or delays imposed by U.S. Customs, including holds, exams, or release processing times, are outside of our purview. Additionally, per industry standards and customs regulations, the importer of record is responsible for any fees incurred as a result of U.S. Customs actions, including demurrage fees.
Reviewing your emails with Clearit, i do see that most, if not all, were responded to within a 15 minute time period - except those over posted closed for holiday dates. In one such email, you acknowledged this and responded with "My apologies for jumping the gun I saw where you sent them"
We value your business and sincerely regret the inconvenience this situation has caused. If there are any outstanding concerns or if you need further assistance in understanding the process, please do not hesitate to reach out directly. We are here to help and ensure a smooth experience moving forward.
Thank you for your understanding and for trusting us with your customs brokerage needs.

They took my personal information. SSN, and photo of my driver's license. I keep getting a no-reply email saying they need another photo of my DL because there is a glare on the photo I sent. But there is no glare and it's perfectly legible. They got a digital copy of my signature (to fulfill documents on my behalf. Aka power of attorney). I had to agree that I can't use another customs broker while I'm in contract with them, but I can't get out of contract because they will not respond to emails and the phone number they have is not even a working number. I feel like they are in the IDENTITY THEFT BUSINESS. I think they should be investigated, possibly by the FTC or the FBI.

Hello,As a licensed Customs Broker, Identity verification and collection of SSN is mandatory when onboarding an importer as per USCBP reasonable care requirements. SSN numbers are required to register as an importer and a clear photo ID is required to confirm the identity of the importer. This can be confirmed by contacting the US Customs help-line.The Customs power of attorney used by Clearit, much like all customs brokers are NON-EXCLUSIVE. Meaning an importer may have multiple POAs with multiple brokers. The fact that Clearit forced this user to sign an exclusive POA is false.Clearit does use "no-reply" emails to send certain notifications to users in order to force their reply onto the Clearit portal. In each no reply email, there is a one-click option to log into the portal to confirm the response. all "no-reply" emails detail clear instructions on how to contact us.
