On 07/12/2025 I was approached at home by sales **** for this company. They never identified the company name and ***eatedly implied they worked for ***, said there would be a notice on my bill, brushed it off when there was no notice on my bill, and told me that I would be signing up to receive more information, nothing more. When I told them I cannot change suppliers because it would void my financial assistance. They told me explicitly this was not about changing suppliers. The *** kept clicking links for me without letting me read them and told me I was signing just to verify she was here for "her safety and mine". Only after she left did I get an email saying I had signed a contract for a new supplier. While I should not have been so trusting, this is egregious conduct. And because it's Saturday and the phone number I see on the contract is only open business days, I was only able to email them asking them to cancel this contract. The contract states I only have 3 days to cancel after signing. None of this was even vaguely told to me. If a new supplier goes through I could lose incredibly important financial assistance. Unforgivable, lying like this. I want my contract cancelled, especially since I was never told I was even signing one.

I received private email correspondence from the business indicating that they are cancelling my account in reference to complaint ID ********. While there was no acknowledgement of deceptive sales tactics, I find that this resolution is satisfactory to me and the matter has been resolved.

    Sincerely,

Today, a representative of this company came to our door, claiming that he was "with ***" or worked for ***. This was not true. He claimed that *** had been including notices on our bill that they, PPL, were going to increase everyone's rate, and that he come to do...something...to prevent this for us. This was also not true. This man did not work for ***. His lanyard was branded as Spring Power and Gas, a company he did not name or admit to working for during this interaction. He was attempting to deceive us into switching to Spring as our power supplier, by falsely claiming himself (and his employer by extension) as direct/official representatives of PPL. This is illegal.

Thank you for your feedback. We take your concerns seriously. As noted in your interaction all Spring Power & Gas agents are required to wear ID badges identifying their affiliation, and enrollments are only processed after customers complete a third-party verification to ensure informed consent. We would like to learn more about your experience, please contact us and ask to speak with a supervisor so we can investigate further.

The business has asked me to contact them, privately, outside of the purview of BBB, and has not provided me with a phone number or other means to contact them as they suggest. Manually searching for a means to contact them reveals only general phone bank numbers; if they would like me to discuss this matter properly, they should provide a direct line to the relevant supervisor, and at minimum it should be on a recorded line.

I was aggressively lied to about why the salespeople were here. I, in error, signed a contract thinking I was dealing with PPL people. I want my contract cancelled, nulled, and voided, and I want Spring Power and Gas to be told not to do this kind of thing again.

    Business Response

    Date: 05/02/2025

Spring Power & Gas ("Spring") regrets that this has been your experience. Spring representatives are required to wear approved branding, and customers cannot be enrolled without proper consent, including documents labeled from Spring and a verification process where customers must confirm enrollment with a clear yes or no. A review of this submission confirms that all enrollment steps were followed. A welcome letter was provided at the point of sale, informing the customer of their right to cancel within the rescission period. Spring received and processed a cancellation request on the same day as enrollment, preventing the account from becoming active.

Spring Power & Gas requires all sales teams to obtain necessary permits for door-to-door solicitation. It appears that a mention of the utility bill may have caused some confusion during this interaction. Spring has previously communicated with this customer and has added their details to our internal Do Not Contact list.

If there are any further questions or concerns regarding this interaction, Spring encourages the customer to reach out to our customer service team at *************.

Spring Power Gas and Electric continue to call me, almost every single day, some times multiple times a day, trying to deceive me into switching electric/gas supplier. They leave messages saying to call urgently for an important message about your gas supplier. I am not nor have I ever been one of their customers. This has been going on for months, despite asking them to stop and not answering their calls. Its extremely frustrating and I worry how they may be trying to deceive others that may not fully understand how their supplier works.

On January 8th, a representative for Spring Power & Gas came to my apartment attempting to change our utility supplier. The representative mislead me and claimed to be from my utility company (****) and not from Spring Power & Gas. They claimed that **** had overcharged me and that they could see about lowering my rate. I told them no and that I was not interested in changing suppliers at this time and the representative would not accept my refusal. They continued to argue with me combatively and continued to claim that they represented **** and that we really had to make this changed. Once again, I told them no and that if there were any issues **** could contact me directly. I closed the door on them, after once again they refused to leave. A few weeks later, I find out they had switched my supplier even though I had told them not to. **** said that I had consented to the change, when I explicitly told this individual that I provide no consent to any changes. At minimum, this salesperson misrepresented my intent and at worst committed some sort of fraud. I have found many other complaints both on BBB and on the internet where nearly identical circumstances took place. It appears to be a tactic by this company, hoping that customers either will not notice the change or will not contest misrepresentation on their behalf.

****** ******, ** **** - ********************** slammed me. provided me no details, but was trusting and showed him bill after he went on about how was affilliated with my energy company but with another energy supplier. He mentioned a fixed rate product that just so happens to have a large cancellation fee and likely 100% the energy costs. This is Spring Power & Gas. The meeting occurred today after he came to my door and technically entered apartment premises.

Spring Power & Gas ( Spring) has a customer enrollment process that meets state regulations. It is regularly audited and enhanced with additional in-house compliance policies to promote transparency and customer *************** policy, all ********************** sales team members wear ID badges to identify themselves as representatives of Spring with no affiliation with any utility or government agency. Customer enrollments are verified by an independent team, which will reject any enrollment if the customer is unsure. *********************** offer is monthly variable priced plan with no cancellation fees.

In this case, it appears that there may have been some confusion during the visit as there was mention of the customers bill. The agent was, however, identified as representing Spring Power & Gas. As described above, all agents are provided with Spring Power Gas IDs and gear.  Following this interaction, *** ** contacted Springs customer service team and ********************** confirmed that an enrollment was not submitted. He never became a customer. .********************** further investigated the concerns raised and found no evidence of wrong doing.Reminders have since been sent to all sales agents regarding proper sales presentations.

Had a man claiming to help save on electric bill and they were from spring power and gas. He was talking so fast and pressuring me into signing things and wanted my customer number on my electric bill because he claimed it would lower the rate and without thinking I gave it to him and accidentally enrolled in something I didnt really want to do but felt pressured between the guy being pushy and trying to get back to my crying son. I just want to not be enrolled in it please.

    Business Response

    Date: 04/02/2025

At Spring Power & Gas, we are committed to ensuring transparency and customer satisfaction, and we take all feedback seriously. Upon reviewing the details of this complaint, it was confirmed that the enrollment process was completed properly, with authorization provided for enrollment into a variable rate plan with no guaranteed savings and no early termination fees. All key points were communicated and acknowledged during the verification process.

However, Spring understands that circumstances can change. This customers request to cancel the enrollment was received and processed and did not become active with Spring Power & Gas.

Should you have any additional concerns or questions, please don't hesitate to reach out. We value your feedback and look forward to assisting you further.

On July 22nd, a sales representive for Spring Power approached my door, but did not disclose they were a sales representive. They mentioned that they were there from "the power company" and had to update something. He talked fast, and knew I had recently moved to the location, since there was a "reserved for moving" sign in front of the parking space in front. He only asked initially for name and phone number, so I didn't back away at this point. He then needed me to log into my electric account, which I did. I realized I was never told what I was supposed to do, and then he took my phone and took a picture. This was another point where I should have stepped away, but I didn't because I was tired and this was happening fast.At this point he began doing paperwork on my phone and asked me to sign. He gave an "overview" of each part, but none of it talked about me switching supplier. He had me sign portions, but didn't let me read it, which again, red flag, but I was tired. Then he was coaching me on what to say in a phone call, and I started to get wise. When the phone call asked if I wanted to confirm that I wanted to switch to Spring Power, I was like "what" and the salesman got ******. He said that they were the replacement company, so I had to do it. I told them know, and he said they would be back, and screamed "WASTE OF MY ******* ****" and ran off.

I just contact my BGE provider and they told me my account was compromised with a third party that was Spring Power and Gas, and they were charging me 0.16 per kw from march 11 of 2021 to last month of march 2024 and the worst thing is that I did not know.I just realized that my bill was coming too high specially in the last months thats why I called my provider, I have never give any authorization or information to this third party ( Spring Power and Gas) I have never accept their services and I want an answer to this situation

Spring Power & **** (Spring) enrollment process is designed to prioritize customer protection and ensure transparency regarding the switch to Spring for supply service. To complete a sale customers must complete a recorded third-party verification call where they accept key terms of service and acknowledge that the switch to Spring Is voluntary.
After receiving this complaint, a member of our supervisory team reached out to the customer and was able to confirm that the enrollment was authorized by the account holder who accepted the terms of enrollment, enrolling into a variable rate plan. Per the customer's request, ********************** has since submitted a request to cancel this account. Per utility rules and market guidelines, this account will close with Spring on April 24, 2024. Both Spring and the customer consider this matter as resolved.

I was approached by Spring Power last year about changing my electricity. I signed up but immediately canceled because I felt uncomfortable with the company. I have since been called at least once every business day asking to come back. I have asked repeatedly to not be called, and I continue to be harassed by the company. I know the whole company is a grift, but I would ask that they respect my wishes to not be called.
