On November 27, 2024 I contacted **** ******* via his sponsored add offering a CPA letter within 24 hours for $300. He emailed back requesting details that need to be stated on the letter. I provided the details and requested an engagement letter or quote." Instead **** requested further details and emailed "We can jump on an advisory call where I will walk you through the best way to proceed today for $345. It takes about 6-10 hours to prepare and file. I accept *****, ***** and Bank Transfer and I collect payment before I begin." I ****** him the money in good faith that he will provide a CPA letter within 24 hours for $345 as delineated in this advertising. After a brief phone call I learned that I needed a different service and not just a CPA letter. Moreover, he needed the passport of my client to obtain an ITIN number and it was impossible to work with him since his office is located in ******** and my client had to leave on December 5. NONE of this was explained before the payment and the call and I still thought I only needed to file a CPA letter and that there was a simple tax form that I could complete myself. To my great surprise **** responded: "We can prepare the tax return including ITIN application, firpta application and plus tax return and return passport next day after receiving for $2,500..." I wanted to clarify his fees surge. **** replied: "As per the email in the offer, that $345 was strictly for an advisory call ... There was no agreement for work to be performed outside of the call for the $345 fee." In essence, I paid $345 for receiving a $2500 quote. I emailed him that I will inform the BBB and write reviews if he is not refunding. He responded: "Please note that leaving reviews as you plan on doing due to your misunderstanding would make us appear to be negligent in practice which is a malicious act and you would subject to penalties of slander, libel and deformation of character."

********** clearly agreed to an advisory call by her acknowledgement to scheduling a call. After agreement and advisory call, and quote given regarding the services needed in lieu of the advisory call, ********** says further services were to have been included in the advisory call fee. This complaint is frivolous.

    Better Business Bureau:

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID# ********, and have determined that my complaint has NOT been resolved because:

    Hello,
Yes I need further assistance. I want to request a refund.
    Kind regards,

    Sincerely,

My apologies for the late response. I just came back from a cruise with limited Internet connection. My issue was not resolved. I had expected a CPA letter for $300 within 24 hours for FIRPTA as advertised. However,  the company charged an "Advisory Fee" fee for letting me know that they cannot help me in time and in addition they quoted  $2500 for their service. I perceive the charge of an advisory fee for this disservice as a scam.
What can be done about this?
    Kind regards,
