I hired Connor of CCM Builders in June thru early August 2024 for the installation of a drainage system, removal of a stoop and replacement of water damaged exterior walls. I had a very bad experience with Connor and his work. During construction, the backhoe operator damaged a garage light, roof and scarred trees which Connor agreed to take care of, but he anxiously asked for full payment first. I made the full payment, in good faith because Connor had a close relationship with a neighborhood friend, the work looked fine at first, except for the damage which was supposed to be corrected quickly. My tentative approval with the work, subject to the outstanding open items, became moot when reputable contractors I consulted, closely inspected and noticed that 40 feet of drainage piping required protective fabric and more drainage stone, that the new cedar siding was installed incorrectly with oriented strand board exposed and my driveway needed repairs related to other backhoe damage. I reviewed and disputed the material billings, which were furnished after time of payment. Connor kept insisting that since he was paid and performed a walk-thru, I was satisfied and approved of his work and material bills. I paid a new contractor to remove the debris left on my property since Connor wanted more money to remove it, weeks after he was paid in full. Connor agreed to redo the cedar siding and eventually agreed to fix the drainage piping, but would not deal with the driveway and the material bills. But now since it was already November 2024 with certain issues unresolved, the relationship becoming strained and with my lack of confidence that any remaining work would be performed properly, I hired good new contractors and professionals to deal with the remaining and potentially other issues, which I am dealing with presently. I realized that I should have obtained a dually signed written detailed contract with provisions for deadlines, escrow, warranties and holdbacks.
