I took my truck in for a diagnostic and repair of the heater. They said the actuator needed to be replaced then they said that did not fix the problem and they needed their master mechanic to look at it then they said it needed to be flushed. After the flush they said it was ready when we went in they said it was not working 100% and we needed to drive it to finish "flushing" out clogs if that doesn't work it might be the heater core. The heater blew warm not hot. After a few weeks of driving it, it stopped working. I had my son call Meineke because he is a mechanic and he told us driving it does not "flush" it out the system is sealed they should have made sure it was completely flushed. He spoke to ******* and she told him its the heater core and he told her he wanted to speak to the mechanic because the heater is acting like its still clogged and she said if we brought it back in quote "I would hate to have to charge you for another flush" and she would have the mechanic call him back. No one called back so I complained to the corporate office. They said they could only be a go between us and the shop since each location is individually owned and she would have a director call me, but I call a call from ******* instead and she was rude and said "Sorry I didn't call you back when you wanted me" but the mechanic was supposed to call us not her and when I asked her how they were going to fix this she made excuses, we went back and forth so I told her to have a nice day and I hung up. They miss diagnosed the issue, had me pay for other things that did not fix the problem and they don't want to guarantee their work or work with me or refund me. They lied to me by telling me I needed to drive the truck for the clog to clear so I no longer trust this company to work on my cars. I believe they used deceptive business practices and overcharged me for things that did not fix the problem knowing I would have to take the car back in and also overcharged for those services.Business Response

This work was done Meineke on ****** way in sparks not Meineke in reno, The customer was notified verbally and on the invoice knowing that the flush was an attempt to get the heater to function properly, that if it does not work that the heater core would need to be replaced she understood this and authorized the work, the flush unfortunately did not work she knew fully that this was an attempt to get it cleaned outCustomer Answer

I am rejecting this response because: we had another mechanic look at it and tell us its the thermostat so I should not have been charged when they were clearly guessing and not actually diagnosing the problem when thats what we took it there for. I believe they were trying to get as much money from us by having us replace different parts that didnt fix the issue. Deceptive business practices

I dropped my car off there that wouldn't start and they said they would diagnose it to see the problem. A couple days later they say that the car had a leak and that they might have a head gasket problem. They quoted me 1500$ if the head gasket problem wasn't going to be a problem since the car would need some spark plugs coils swapped out, a new cap and a radiator. Then ***** calls me back and i call them a couple days later. Now they say no head gasket problem but that the quote to get it running is 2400$. Im surprised because i was quoted 1500$ and they didnt even tell me that my head gasket was good and 2 days passed. Im clarifying on the call im not going to pay 2400$ for a car to have another problem and not work 2 days later. They state all work they do is under warranty and that if i pay the 2400$ the car will drive out of here and should have no problems So i say s**** it i apply for a loan to pay for the 2400$. I ask when it will be done and they say by tomorrow ********** i get no phone call again by the next night and i have someone go in on monday. Since Friday it was supposed to be completed. As that person gets there they are told that it was working and after a test drive they tried to restart it but the head gasket blew. Then still having no phone call I'm told tuesday after i show up that it will be 6200$ now to get it running. They also wont give me the non running car to check with another mechanic on there work until i pay 2400$ lol. Ive talked to other mechanics around and they state that they either blew up the head gasket not flushing out the system and or there trying to steal your car. Just know that they were not communicating the whole time. They also don't have my parts they swapped out.they should finish the job for the agreed upon price of 2400$ and like they said have me driving out of there with a running vehicle.Business Response

When the vehicle was towed in for a crank no start, we started our process on diagnostics, we found vehicle had fuel pressure started to inspect the ignition system for spark, found that the valve cover had been leaking profusely 2 out of the 4 spark plug tubes were filled with oil we then cleaned the plugs, and coils removed the oil that was not supposed to be there and got the vehicle to run performed multiple block test with the vehicle running and found 0 hydrocarbons( exhaust gasses ) leaking into the coolant. while vehicle was running found there was a large coolant leak from the radiator. which we suspect that there has been major issues with the cooling system seeing that there is coolant tracks everywhere under the hood including a brand new water pump. spoke to the customer about the problems that we found, the customer is not this man he had sold the vehicle to a woman. this man then contacted the store in which he was asking about the price of the repairs for the vehicle he had asked if the price would be around 1500 we told him no that we would need to Finnish working up the repairs at which point we called him with the total on the repairs to get this running, he then applied for financing to complete the repairs and gave us authorization to proceed forward, we replaced the spark plugs, 2 ignition coils 2 ignition coil boots and the valve cover to stop the oil leak, and replaced the radiator, we flushed the cooling system and replaced the thermostat due to the fact the customer stated that there was a lot of blue devil stop leak put into the system. we then proceeded pressure test the cooling system at which point it held pressure and had no leaks. we completed the repairs and took the vehicle for a test drive and called the customer to let her know the vehicle was ready for pick up the next morning we went to pull the vehicle out it would not start pressure tested and performed another block test to see if hydrocarbons( exhaust gasses) were in the cooling system and now that the head gasket had failed on the test drive . notified the customer and then the this man came in to the shop wondering why we had not called him angrily. we explained the situation to him at which point he refused to pay for the work that has been completed. Bottom line is the cooling system is meant to be a sealed system and once it was, due to the pressure it found the next weakest point which was the head gasket and this is due to the fact that this car was driven for so long without the repairs being done to fix the massive coolant leak and stop leak just being added to try and fix it. the head gasket blew due to fact that there was severe negligence for repairs and maintenance not being performed.Customer Answer

I am rejecting this response because: The whole point of them doing repairs on the vehicle is to get it running and out of the shop, i agreed to pay for a running vehicle. Im not the professional mechanic so if the car was driven with problems and repairs needed then that should be brought up by the professionals before telling me that if i spend 2400$ i will have a car that drives out of there. This is what the person said. Thats why they diagnosed it as professionals. Its obviously a big misdiagnosis. Its not my fault that they misdiagnosed the vehicle and it broke under there watch.the reason that i am not liable is because im not a car mechanic, they could be doing anything to the vehicle while im not around and then charging me and blaming me. Thats not how a bussiness should run, if you say u will get it running for a price, then you should honor it. Or you should have said it has a bad head gasket and i dont wanna work on this unless we fix that, which then we wouldnt. Obviously.
She was just driving the car. So no she is not the owner. You have been misinformed.
Sincerely,

I took my vehicle to this shop a year ago for a brake job I purchased New brakes and rotors about a week went by and I noticed they were still making noise. I took it back to the shop. The employee at that time said it just takes time for them to break in and by the time I get back from **********, I shouldnt hear that noise anymore I take it back to the shop on 6/10 The general manager **** let me know. I was a month away from the warranty being up. They assured me they would replace the rotors and brakes so I left my card there they did the job and called me and told me to come pick up my car as I was leaving, I noticed that when I would started to break, My car started making a thumping noise. I turned around immediately took it back to the shop. Had an employee get in my car to test drive with me left my car there again and then on 6/13 The general manager stated there was something wrong with my arms and my bushes of the car. He even stated that he had never seen anything like it before and he wasnt sure if that was even the problem. I told him I think its pretty odd that I bring my car here for you guys to fix your first mistake and now ** leaving having more issues than what I began with. I shouldve never had to bring my car back for them to fix the brakes and rotors that were initially put on and for the employee at the time to lie to me and say that they just takes time to break in Is unacceptable. The general manager stated to me that that employee got fired and that he apologizes for whoever did the work the first time they never offered to do any repairs.Business Response

We are sorry that the customer feels this way, she was 1 week away from the warranty being expired, we warrantied out and replaced the front pads machined the front rotors, warrantied the rear pads and rotors as well. the vehicle makes a noise under heavy braking situations and with 70k miles on the vehicle parts are starting to ware out, we have never done anything other than brakes and oil changes to this vehicle. the brakes are new and functioning properly the way that they should we have had the vehicle on the lift and showed the customer the play in the control arm bushings that we suspect is causing the problem she is having. we are willing to look at it again at no charge to verify the problem. but i will say again the brakes are perfect and are not the cause of her problem.
