Dr Docasar's ****** has unethical and fraudulent billing practices.First, when I spoke to Dr ******* about getting on hormones during an ****** visit, she stated that I had to attend a hormone seminar to obtain hormone replacement therapy that would be billed as an ****** visit. This seems like double billing.I received an email on 6/20/2023 stating that I owe $225 for a claim that my insurance did not pay in 08/2022. I called the ****** and they sent me the claim paperwork and a "claim log" that stated that they electronically submitted the claim on 9/19/2022. My insurance carrier stated that I did not have to pay this claim because of the contract that they had with this provider and because the doctor's ****** did not submit the claim on time. When I called the ****** back to explain this, they stated, "we bill your insurance as a courtesy and it is your responsibility." On 6/27/2023, I received an e-mail that they canceled all of my upcoming appointments because of this unpaid claim (even though I was working with my insurance carrier on this). I called my insurance carrier again. My insurance carrier called Dr Docasar's ****** and asked them to resubmit the claim to see if it can be paid.on 7/19/2023, I noticed a $100 charge from Dr Docasar's ****** on my debit card without my authorization. I e-mailed the practice again and they stated that they billed my debit card so that the amount doesn't get sent to collections. I called my insurance company a 3rd time and they stated that I did not have to pay the bill again because it was not submitted in time. My insurance called the doctor's ****** and they stated that I signed something stating that I would pay the bill if insurance did not pay it. My insurance stated that since there is a contract with them this is not correct. The issues that I see here are that the doctor double bills for the same services, contractual agreements are violated, and my account being billed without my authorization.

    Business Response

After careful and detailed review of ****************** account with my billers, she  has only  been billed for the visits she has had with me. She seems to be upset because her insurance has not paid her claim from Aug 2022 and she was asked to pay her bill. With respects to her allegations of my fraudulent billing, my protocol for all my hormone patients is they must attend my teaching seminar. The seminar last 45min-1hr. I review all hormones/indications/benefits/risks and options  and I can bill for those services. This is not something that can be covered in a ***** min regular visit. Hormones are safe if done properly and I pride myself in caring for my patients.

    Better Business Bureau:

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID ********, and find that this resolution is satisfactory to me.

I do not agree with what the business is stating since it appears that they didnt bill my insurance in a timely manner and I got stuck with the bill, but it is a loosing battle to argue with them so I accept the response.

    Sincerely,
