I just completed the worst move ever known to mankind. Had used North American previously and been pleased and now am disappointed, infuriated and angry at the last move.
Mike picked me up a few hours late on June 19 which is not a problem. He and the team did a great job loading. It was late getting here (July 4) but that wasn’t a concern. He didn’t give me a bill of lading showing all the contents, but he didn’t prepare one at the time of loading. I’ve moved several times, sadly, and this is the worst from every standpoint.
However, after the van pulled up, I realized it was not the same van, and my belongings had been offloaded and reloaded onto another truck. This is when the damage/loss occurred.
A small table leg was snapped off (this was a gift from a friend who has passed so is cherished for the memory) – the floor fan is missing the middle leg – I am missing a favorite bunny shepherds hook – a storge unit was dismantled and the fasteners nowhere to be found (should have been in baggie and taped to the unit) - a small box is missing with my Portmeirion sugar bowl, Fostoria s/p and another etched crystal footed s/p set. – the queen size headboard was scratched in several places, removing the paint – a glass was broken on a framed poster. I have never had anything broken that I packed but the boxes were badly damaged and crushed. And have saved the worst for last: someone scratched the initials AL in the top of my Queen Anne desk.
I am 82 and overwhelmed at having to deal with all this so have asked my daughter to file the complaints with BBB and post the negative reviews on Yelp. She will complete the claim form for me. None of this would have happened if it all had been left on the original truck.

We are truly sorry to hear about your recent moving experience and the distress it has caused you. After reviewing our records, we were unable to locate a move under the name Sue Whiddon in our system. It is possible that the move was coordinated by a different company that may share a similar name. North American Moving Services LLC is a federally licensed interstate carrier, and we take all complaints very seriously. However, based on the information provided, we believe your move may have been conducted by another carrier or broker. Unfortunately, we cannot investigate or resolve issues involving services we did not perform. To assist you in finding the correct company, we recommend checking any paperwork you may have received (such as a Bill of Lading, estimate, or payment receipt) for the exact company name and Department of Transportation (DOT) number. These details can help confirm the identity of the carrier that performed your move. We understand how upsetting this experience must have been and wish you the very best in resolving the matter.

I should have listed to my gut. I had a move scheduled in May for a move IN August the day before the move I got a call to go over the inventory list and everything was okay. The morning after (when the movers were supposed to come) the dispatcher tells me that they don't have a mover or a truck because the drivers don't like to go to the border. They also stated that they had it to move the schedule around. Mind you they are telling us this the day that the movies are supposed to be there. So they proceed to tell us that they will give us a discount for the mishap. Ben told us they were going to use the backup date which was the 17th the following day and that the movers will show up between 5:00 and 7:00 p.m. here it is almost 8:00 and they still never showed no one ever contacted us. We called the customer service number today but they were closed we had to turn our keys into our lease in office for our apartment in today so now we're going to lose out on majority of our belongings don't ever book with these people. They clearly don't care about your things and it's a scam they just want your money

They make promises they don’t keep like refunding your money within a certain notice of cancellation. They get away with it because they tell you you have a credit that you can use within a year. I lost almost $2400. I gave them a two month notice of cancellation, I am a widow and I am a senior and it is terrible customer service??

STAY AWAy! They are scam artists.
I am moving to Maryland to start a new job on Jan 2nd. They picked up my stuff in Boston Ma on time, and were supposed to have it delivered the next day. I drove to Maryland and the movers never showed up.
I called customer service who told me “yes they should’ve been there next day but we have 30 days to deliver technically.” They will not give me an arrival date and and said “whenever it gets there it gets there.”
That is NOT what I signed up for. Who would sign up for their whole entire house to “get there when i gets there” especially when I have a new job to start!
NEVER use this company. They have the worst customer service and they do NOT care about you or your stuff at all.

Shocking that the average rating could be as high as 2.12 stars. I would give negative stars if possible. My daughter contracted through North American Movers who claimed that they would be hauling the load. They quoted $2980 for an estimated 500 cf. They lowballed it to get the load. They subbed the move out to ***** **** who are even more shady than NAM. In the end, it cost $5127. They charged us for 900 cf but when the truck was unloaded our belongings only filled 600 cf. If we'd had any clue it was going to cost that much we would've just rented a U-Haul and moved it ourselves. My daughter was forced to throw away furniture and beloved belongings because FB claimed she had exceeded 900 cf, then they demanded a wire transfer for thousands of dollars before they would leave. She initially told them the highest priorities were her bed and couch, so they left the couch for last and claimed it took up 400 cf! As for packaging, blankets and tape were included free but they threw in a $650 packaging charge for what amounted to be 30' of stretch wrap and a corrugated carton (about $5 worth of materials).
Upon delivery 2 1/2 weeks later, items were missing (had sat in storage for a few weeks). The movers could not easily fit the couch in the elevator of the apartment complex so I had to take the padding, cushions and feet off to fit it in because they were just going to leave it on the ground floor!
So far they have denied our claim but I have not given up.

WORST COMPANY EVER!!! I booked with NORTH AMERICAN MOVERS and SUPERMOVE USA picked up and delivered my belongings. I wish I had checked the reviews prior. Mover showed up with only one mover and showed up 7 hours early to pick up, which I made explicit instructions that I wouldn’t be available until after 1pm. Confirmed with the company the night before for pickup between 3-4p, he showed up at 9am. Told us he’d be able to fit everything in but he’d have to charge me another $1053 because he wasn’t going to be able to fit everything in the space they allotted and left half my stuff behind. Company wouldn’t release my belongings until I paid them an extra $1053. The salesperson lied about everything, customer service is a joke!! When I said I paid extra money for all my belongings and he left half behind. She said put a claim in and gave me a number that they weren’t even enrolled….
We are in receipt of your moving claim. Unfortunately, we are unable to process your claim as North American Movers is not enrolled with ****** ***** **********.

On the day of the move, movers showed up in Uhaul truck, first clue. Immediately quote was changed to double the original price. Required a wire transfer of cash before they would move our loaded furniture, essentially held it hostage. North American will claim they subcontracted and leave you with the the sub contractor for many additional fees and sub will not follow through with agreement made to NA LLC. Most of our furniture was damaged and left for us to move when it was agreed by NA LLC that movers would unload and reassemble in the desired room. NA LLC will claim the sub contractor is responsibile for any damages, they are no help. A complete scam of a company.

Absolute scammers! My original quote was for $7995
They only picked up some of belongings and held my stuff hostage and charged me an additional $17,000 on top of the deposit I paid. So I’ve paid triple and my belongings have not been moved. I’m stuck trying to figure out how to get my belongings moved after they’ve sucked my credit card dry!
