This pertains to our Publishing Agreement signed on October 22, 2022, concerning my book, "Extraordinary Synergy - Measure the Unmeasurable," published on January 4, 2024.Significant concern regarding the complete lack of communication from WorkBook Press. For over a year, I have consistently attempted to reach **** ******* and ***** ***** (understand she is the designer) via phone calls, leaving messages, texts, and emails, but I have received no response. I urgently need clarification on the following points:Sales Reporting and Royalties: My book is listed on platforms like **********. However, I have not received any sales reports, accounting, or royalty payments since its publication. This fails to meet the Section 3 of our agreement, royalties are paid on sales every 90 ********* Accessibility for Author Orders: I am unable to order copies of my own book directly, which prevents me from selling them. Future Distribution and Rights: I am exploring opportunities with bookstore chains to sell my book. They need to understand:What is the returnability policy for bookstores under our existing agreement? If a bookstore chooses to print copies of my book through their own printing company, will WorkBook Press claim any share from me or the bookstore? As the "sole proprietor" of all exclusive rights, title, and interest in my manuscript, it is my understanding that I maintain full creative and distribution control. I need confirmation that WorkBook Press will have no claim or interest in any sales generated through new distribution channels I secure independently, or any future editions of this book (e.g., a 2nd edition published directly by me or another publisher).I expect a prompt response to these critical inquiries. I will proceed on the understanding that WorkBook Press agrees to the terms outlined above regarding my retained rights and lack of future claims on my independent sales or future editions of the book.

Hi BBB, the business replied promptly and retaliated me being a wistle blower.

This is the reply by ***** ********,  Project Manager/ Royalty Specialist

"Effective today, the book will be officially removed from all Workbook Press distribution channels. Regarding your inquiry about the return policy and the registration number associated with the book, there is no registration number assigned to this title. Additionally, we are unclear on the specific context of your question regarding the return policy; however, please note that upon removal from our distribution channels, any related return terms will no longer apply, as all ties with the book will be fully concluded. "

I immediately called emailed and text **** and ***** but no response.

    Please help.

As stated in Section 1 of our Publishing Agreement, you retain full ownership and control of all rights, title, and interest in your manuscript. We confirm that Workbook Press does not and will not assert any rights, interests, or claims over the original or any future editions of Extraordinary Synergy Measure the Unmeasurable.

To date, the book has sold a total of three (3) copies, generating $3.72 in royalties. A detailed royalty reports were sent yesterday.

Workbook Press website and customer service hotline are always available during Nevada business hours, but never received a call regarding ordering copies of the the author's book.

Under our existing agreement, your book is marked as returnable with the "destroy" option, bookstores can return unsold copies, but instead of being sent back to you, the books are destroyed. Workbook Press is then charged only the wholesale cost of the returned copies, which helps reduce storage and shipping fees while still meeting bookstore requirements for returnability.

If a bookstore chooses to print copies of your book through its own printing service, WorkBook Press does not receive any share of royalties from those sales and holds no claim over the proceeds.

WorkBook Press confirms and will hold no claim or interest in any sales generated through new distribution channels that that author, Hairong Gui has secure independently, or any future editions of this book (e.g., a 2nd edition published directly by the author or another publisher).

Workbook Press, when I signed on with them, agreed to place my two republished novels on Amazon, which is normal procedure. By 2024 the novels were republished, and I took it for granted that the two novels, paperback, were selling on ******, along with the kindle version. I trusted the people because I worked with some of them when making changes on the novels. I believed they were honest and could be trusted. After more than a year, in May of 2025 my friends were telling me that the republished novels, Sotol, and The Dance of the Scorpions, were not on Amazon, and had never been, only the older copies. I contacted the woman who was supposed to add the novels, on May 12 of 2025. She told me that ****** only accepted the original copies and no others by the same title and same author, which was a lie. As long as the **** number is different, additional copies can be added. I related this to workbook press. I left a message on a machine. My calls were not answered, and I couldn't get through any human, only voice mail. I left them a massage telling them that I was going to contact my banks fraud department and dispute the money I paid them for nothing. On the 29 of June, I received an email from workbook press blaming ****** again and telling me that If I wanted to purchase the republished copies of the novels on ******, I would have to enter the **** number. They added an **** number for only one book. They never stop lying and taking advantage of writers. I want other writers to be aware of the scan this company perpetrates, including promoting books, and all kinds of gimmicks to take our money. Who is going to have an **** number to purchase a book, that is so ridicules that it's not even funny.

Hi Mr. ***************** followed up with our distributor regarding the paperback listing issue on ******. They confirmed that the 2024 edition is correctly linked with the Kindle version, and both formats are accessible under the See all formats and editions section of the listing.
However, the way Amazon chooses to feature or display a specific version (such as which paperback appears first) is entirely controlled by their system and can be influenced by factors like seller history, availability, and pricing. Unfortunately, this means theres nothing the distributor or Workbook Press can do to directly change how the paperback is being displayed at the moment. (As long as the 2016 version is available for sale on Amazon.)
The good news is that the 2024 version is active, orderable, and properly linked with the Kindle edition. I recommend sharing the direct link to the updated version in any promotions to ensure readers are directed to the correct edition. They may also click on the "See all formats and editions" section of the listing.
Thank you for your understanding, and please dont hesitate to reach out if you need anything further.

I am rejecting this response because:The people at Wordbook Press lied to me from the beginning. The two books were to be placed on Amazon and not linked to Kindle. They never explained to me anything about this condition. They never said anything about links or any such things. They want to blame ****** for their fraud. They want to believe and convince everyone that because the older versions of the novels are on Amazon, it is ok. Only one novel, Sotol can be bought with their so called link. The other book, The Dance of the Scorpions, is nowhere in sight.

    Business Response

We appreciate the opportunity to address the concerns raised in this complaint. At Wordbook Press, we are committed to transparency and strive to ensure our authors are well-supported throughout the publishing process. Both titlesSotol and The Dance of the Scorpionswere submitted for distribution to ****** in their intended formats and became available at the same time. However, ****** initially removed the 2024 version of The Dance of the Scorpions and reverted to displaying the older 2016 edition. As soon as we became aware of this issue, we submitted a formal request to ******, and the correct 2024 edition was reinstated. It has remained available on ******'s platform since that time.
Regarding the Kindle linkage, we would like to clarify that linking the paperback and e-book versions of the same title on a single Amazon product page is a standard industry practice. This approach enhances discoverability and improves the customer experience. In fact, most authors request this feature and see it as a benefit to their books visibility and potential sales. To date, you are the only author who has expressed concern with this setup. We acknowledge that this preference may not have been clearly discussed during the process, and we regret any confusion that may have caused. Please know that we remain open to further dialogue to ensure your preferences are respected moving forward.

    Complaint: 23441312

I am rejecting this response because: The people who are employed by Workbook Press are in the habit of manipulating writers. They promise many things, and it all looks like they are legitimate, but it is only fool's gold. Now they want to blame ****** for their empty promises. It took them more than a year to let me know that my two republished books were not on ******. They were happy to claim that since the two older copies of the books were on amazon, that I should be satisfied with that. I trusted them, and took it for granted that they were, as agreed in the contract. They didn't have the decency or the professionalism to explain what was going to happen. When they were collecting my money, they were extra nice, and called often, now they don't answer the phone when I call, and send my message to an extension. Word Book Press will continue to rip writers off again and again, that's what they do, and came up with a million excuses when they are called on for it. I hope that writers out there read my words and take their business elsewhere. If I would have checked BBB and read some of the negative words written about them, I would have taken my business to another publisher.

    Sincerely,

    *** *******

I had a book published by WorkBook Press in ****************************** the beginning they were great, keeping me informed of everything, then they wanted more money, then there were errors on what I was sending them, kept asking for money when in actual I had overpaid them. When I finally received my books, I decided to read it, which I had never done before. There were so many errors, even spelling errors and the book was aligned as if a child did it.In the beginning they said that I would have to pay for the corrections, but somehow they decided to appease me. When I finally received the book, there was still errors. They were supposed to promote my book which never happened. They said that I would have to pay for anything else that I needed.

Our company already got the client's book published back in 2022. Please see attached screenshot. Also, we fulfilled all the marketing services he purchased with us. We are also always trying to contact him for updates and royalty reports but the author is not reachable. We wish for the author to contact his consultant directly since the latter is always calling him. We request for this complaint to be closed and deleted on our account since this is not valid. Services are fulfilled and communication never stopped. Client is not reachable instead. Thank you.

I hired Workbook Press in 2022 to create a website for me: www.pwaltontrinity.com I worked with ******************* and ***************** on this. The website was excellent. I was very pleased I had chosen Workbook. There's details and videos on five ********* books I've written. The most recent one is titled God on the Move in *********, ** and on the back cover it lists this web site.On August 25 of this year, 2023, I paid the $500 required for another year of the website (see the document I included) Imagine my surprise when I found out last week that the website no longer exists! What's even more frustrating is that 2 emails and 2 voice messages have received no response which is why I'm reaching out to you. The most logical answer to how this happened is that if I had not paid the $500 annual maintenance cost the site would have been dropped. For some reason they didn't realize I willingly paid.I have business sense. I paid for a service which Workbook fulfilled very well. Restore the site ASAP is my request.
