In April we brought our box Truck in for a diagnosis. We advised we were going to be moving it to ************** for occasional deliveries. *************** Repair advised it needed about $1200 in repairs to be running in good condition but they did recommend about $2400 in repairs to be running at its best. We picked up the Truck on Saturday drove out on Sunday. The truck did not make it 4hrs when it broke down in the middle of no where. Insurance they sold us did not have towing on Sunday. We had it towed to a yard had to wait hours on tge side of the road. Called Repair shop in the morning where we got no accountability. ****, advised he could not have it towed to *********, he had to arrange transport and it could take weeks. They never picked it up then they asked for a diagnosis the Tow yard was short handed and advised the engine was probably the cause of the issue but did not have time for repairs. We used our life savings to start a business used a huge chunk of that money to repair what was advised. Not once has the shop taken accountability or advised we would figure it out together. In fact they have done nothing but blame it on yr of the vehicle. Putting the blame on us. They could of advised they could not guarantee the work and not take $2400. Instead they took the money and we did not have the vehicle for a half day when it broke down. We have tried our hardest to contact them via phone with no success to not affect their business disclosing this information in front of customers. We finally had to come in and they did nothing not an apology or a solution nothing. They asked us to leave. I tried hard to keep our composure. I was so upset because the manager *** nor drowning his face instead was calling the service advisor over tge phone from a back office. Showed no remorse or tried to figure something else. Instead asked us to leave. Our vehicle is still in Lemore, **** . We spent more than $2400 in repairs and more than $4000 in cost of the truck.

This persons vehicle's engine has failed. We are very sorry to hear that and do not wish misfortune on anyone

But we are not the cause nor is this our fault. Prior to this customers engine failer. We performed routine maintenance on this vehicle. We replaced  some coolant hoses, belts, performed a transmission service and also replaced an oil pan gasket. None of these repairs are the cause of the issue they are having now. There warranty with us is only on the items we repaired. ******* not transfer to other components unrelated to our invoiced services. We spoke with there mechanic in **** where the truck is apperintly now located and where informed by there mechanic that none of the issues they now have are related to anything we did. The Vehicle has had a internal engine failer and the engine has locked up. This vehicle has over ******* miles on it. We would have no way of knowing that there engine was going to fail when we performed our services. When the vehicle was at our location it ran fine.  We would have no problem warrantying anything that is covered. But there currant issue with the truck has nothing to do with any of the services we performed prior in any way. They have been told this by there ******** in ******* writing and  We also have already given this person the written statement from there mechanic in **** that we have, stating what has happened to there trucks engine. Nothing of which is a part of or caused by anything we did prior to there misfortune. We see no reason why we should be responsible to issue a refund for the services we performed. All of our services where performed correctly and as far as we know are still in good condition according to there mechanic in ****. This person wants ** to take responsibility for something that is not our fault. We asked them to leave our offices the last time due to this person yelling and screaming at our staff. We do not allow this type of behavior towards our employees. We will ask anyone to leave if they exhibit this type of behavior. It is unprofessional and not proper.

As we have stated to this customer prior if they believe that something we did has caused there currant issue they would need to either bring the truck in for us to inspect it or provide evidence to show there currant issue is a result from something we repaired. At this point they have not done this. We can not issue a refund at this point without some sort of reasoning why. The services we performed carry commercial warranty of 12 months or ****** miles. ** there is a issue with any of the parts or service we sold to this customer we will be happy to take care of that issue.

      Thank You

      07/19/2023

We are sorry to hear that this persons vehicle had a engine fail.

As we stated in prior response.  The issues that This Client has with the vehicle are unrelated to any repairs or service we performed. We can not provide a warranty or refund moneys for something we did not repair or replace. The Mechanic shop in **** where the vehicle is stated to be at has stated in writing to us and the client as well, that the engine has failed.  The reason being It has excessive blow by due to internal engine failer. This is NOT a covered Component of our repairs we performed. None of the repairs we performed are said to be defective nor would they have caused the issue the vehicle is now stated to have. We performed general maintenance. This dose not make us liable if something else go's wrong with the vehicle. We are truly sorry if they had a engine fail. But we are in no way the cause of this issue. Our commercial vehicle warranty is 12 month ***** mile warranty on only the repairs we billed for. ******* not apply to other Components we did not service or replace and is not a overall bumper to bumper warranty. We did not replace or service any internal engine components nor has this client supplied any evidence to justify that any thing we serviced or replaced has failed causing the issue they are said to have now. We are not to blame for the engine failer.  No one would be able to foreseen such a issue prior to it happening. It is not uncommon for a high milage engine to fail. It ***** when it happens and we are sorry it happened to this person.

If this person still believes they are due a warranty claim they would need to either bring the vehicle into our location to be inspected or provide repair receipts that show something we replaced or serviced has failed. As of todays date 07/19/2023 we have not received any of these requested items needed to process this persons warranty claims. If this person has any further documentation that can substantiate there claim that work we performed is due a warranty claim it can be sent to ******************************************************** We would be happy to help if we can.

The shop is advising the work that they did, did not cause the breakdown. They have not inspected the vehicle as they agreed to do. Im not a mechanic which I stated in previous responses if they left a leak it is going to cause further issues with the vehicle and they are aware of that. This can not be okay for a repair shop to blatantly steal from their customers and take no ownership. They said they were sorry after I mentioned they do not have not apologized or have taken any ownership with us or any other complaint. Now they want us to bring them the vehicle, wanting us to incur even more cost and hardship. You can not allow someone to be part of your organization that operates this way. Again we have proof of the work that they so called did. Calls and messages regarding the issue. If I take the vehicle to the shop are they going to pay the cost to take their because they had advised they would and never did which again speaks about their honesty. If. You look further into them reviews their yelp reviews always blame the customer  and deny  any wrong doing. They need to Help us get this figured out.

      Business response

      08/01/2023

As We have stated ***** time now. We have no problem looking at the vehicle if this person still believes its under warrant and wants to bring it in. They have not done so as of 08/01/2023

When we first where informed that this person believed they had a repair that should be under warranty  They where told to get it checked out where they where and if it was found to be  under warranty we would deal with it. The mechanic shop the customer brought the vehicle to has confirmed it is NOT a cause from any of the services we performed prior. Obviously This person dose not believe there mechanic in ****. If this person wants to Bring the truck into our location to be inspected that's ok we have no problem with that. But they would need to get it to us. We would not pay for towing the truck back to our location in ******. The Repairs that are stated to be needed by the customers chosen Repair Shop in **** are not a covered component we replaced or worked on.

As stated before we replaced a Belt, 2 Hoses ,the Transmission filter, and a Oil Pan Gasket. All of these components are said to be in good condition as per there Mechanic shop in ****. According to the shop in **** there high milage engine has just failed. This in no way constitutes that we should be responsible to tow there truck hundreds of miles back to ******. Nor would it entitle them to a refund. At this point there is nothing else we can do for them. If they believe it is a warranty claim they would need to submit Something That shows a covered component has failed or have the truck brought into our location to be inspected. They can email any documentation to support there warranty claim to ******************************************************* If they have something else to support there claims we are unaware of.

They are basically repeated every response. They continue to claim that it was not their repairs that caused the issue that the Tow Yard advised it was not their wrong doing.  The tow yard never advised them what the issue was which they were not honest about we sent them the documentation not the tow yard. They want us to absorb the cost of towing the truck back to ********* when they have not taken ownership of any wrong doing. They sold us a warranty that does not cover any of the repairs which again they are not being honest about. I would like them to provide proof they did wrong doing in their repairs. The document they received from the tow yard was us sending them the document. Im am not going to allow them to steal even more from us and our family. They agreed to see the vehicle at our expense. Again I have not posted any reviews or contacted other agencies to submit a report which I have every right to do. I do have proof of repairs and issues. I have made several attempts to have them try and help us resolve this here. But I will do what is needed because this is not right or fair to us. I do hope you mediate an any way as they are a part of your organization and should be held accountable. I am not saying that this was done on purpose I am saying the repairs were not done correctly. They need to be accountable for some of it.

I had car repairs done on my vehicle in May 2022 - which I paid $4300, three months later the vehicle broke down with the original car problem - broken timing chain - still under warranty the car was repaired a second time. When the vehicle repairs were complete and drivable the vehicle broke down three days later. The vehicle has been at ***** ******* - ******* since February 12, 2023 and no repairs completed. I was provided several reasons for the delays: that they were waiting for the warranty to be approved, waiting for parts and finally waiting for an open stall to start repairs. *** contacted the Area Manager and he promised the repairs would be completed with no out of pocket costs to me; this was April 23, 2023. On May 16, 2023 I received an estimate for repairs at $4879. This was unacceptable to me and I denied the repairs since I originally paid for repairs in 2022, the vehicle was still under warranty and I wouldn't be charged for repairs. On May 24, 2023, I went to the shop and my vehicle was still parked in the same spot that I last visited on May 8, 2023 when assessment was performed. At this point, I feel repairs will never be completed and if repairs were completed, the quality of service would be very poor utilizing used parts, so I demanded that they reassemble the Cadillac and I would have it towed to my residence. Since February 2023 my vehicle has been parked in an uncovered outside vehicle parking area in which the weather elements have damaged the paint, weather stripping and the tires. My vehicle is still at ***** DI-*******, apparently with no intention of repairs and their failure to properly return my vehicle to me. *** sent a letter of complaint to Nevada DMV on June 1, 2023 and have contacted the Veterans legal assistance for possible legal actions against Dons DI. I have tried all possible solutions to resolve this issue and hope you can provide me with assistance in this matter. Thank you.******************************* ************

The currant issue with the Cadillac is not the same as the repairs done on May 26th of 2022. It is not related to the Timing chains that was replaced. It is a internal frailer of the engine its self. It has seized the crankshaft. We understand that it has only been a few hundred miles since the chain was replaced under warranty and are trying to do what we can to help ***************** happy. I think there in a misunderstanding As to what we are offering We are offering to give ****************** a shop credit of the amount of the timing chain bill that was in the amount of $4094.33 towards the engine replacement. The total for the engine replacement is $4879.88. We have been waiting on a answer as to if he would like us to do this. I'm not sure where the miscommunication is but we would like to Make ***************** happy if possible. ***** contact us at your earliest convenance

Regarding an attempted air conditioning repair by Dons D.I. Auto and Truck Service on our 2018 ***** Civic repair on September 9, 2022.After picking car up. A/C not cooling as it should. Its performance diminished to the point of no cooling at all on October 11, 2022. We took the car to the ************* Dealership in ********* for a diagnosis. I came to Dons D.I. on October 11, 2022 and spoke with **** at the front desk, advising him of *****s diagnosis: They advised that the entire air conditioning system was ruined because it had been filled with R134 freon, instead of 1234YF freon. This caused the entire system to fail. The estimate for repair is $6,929.63. I also took it to another repair shop for a second opinion. They agreed with the diagnosis of the ************* dealership.)**** said he would check into it and get back with me. When **** called me at 11:40AM on October 12, 2022, he claimed that the shop would not have done that AND that even if you had done that, it would not harm the system on our car at all. This statement is completely false. There are numerous articles online about how this would damage an air conditioning system. Additionally, it would mean that you charged us $288 for the very expensive R-1234YF and then used the cheaper R-134A.Here is one quote from an on-line source:R-1234YF is very expensive. This has led to end-users trying to replace the refrigerant in vehicles originally containing R-1234YF with R-134A, in an attempt to save money. Not only does this negate the environmental benefits of R-1234YF, but its also a violation of Federal Law under Section 203 of the Clean Air Act and is considered tampering with a vehicles emissions control device.Violators are subject to civil penalties up to $45,268 per noncompliant vehicle or engine, $4,527 per tampering event or sale of defeat device, and $45,268 per day for reporting and recordkeeping violations. ************** We are sorry to hear your having a issue with your AC. As far as the the accusation that we put 134a freon in your ****YF ac system this is not possible as ****YF Dose not have the same fitting as 134a Freon nor would our ****yf machine allow us to even load 134a into it to recharge a****yf system. We have a dedicated ****yf machine required to recharge these types of systems We recharged your ac when it came into us with the required amount of ****YF due to it being low. It shows on the paperwork You submitted your ac system is over 70% ****yf we have no idea why you would have a 25% amount of 134a freon in your cars ac system. But it was NOT done by us.

Just for your reference having the small amount 134 in your system would not require you to replace your entire AC system as someone has told you. I doubt that is what is required now. Below I have pasted a statement by the ****** ************************************** ) That license's auto technicians and automotive business's to buy the freon needed and service systems like your car has. As you can see by the statement ******** **** converted millions of there units from ****yf back to 134a freon.

What happens if you mix R-134a and R****yf?
The expansion valve setting for R-****yf refrigerant is different compared to R-134a. Changing from R-****yf to R-134a refrigerant may result in a system with incorrect refrigerant flow and heat exchanger mal-distribution which may cause a loss of cooling performance.
The TXV setting is also different when an Internal Heat Exchanger (***) is used, which is common in R-****yf MAC systems. This may mean that suction line pressure drop is increased, which might affect the setting for a pressure controlled compressor, resulting in poor cooling or evaporator core freezing.

Can R-****yf be converted to R-134a? You can convert an empty R-****yf system to R-134a. ******** made this obvious when it raised objections to R-****yf years ago and recalled European models with the refrigerant, recovered it from the vehicles systems and recharged them with R-134a.

      Complaint: 19859475

I am rejecting this response because:

      Dear ***,

Thank you for your response. I commend you for your eloquent writing.  However, you have glossed over numerous facts which will be rather easy to prove in court.

      1.   You state that it is NOT POSSIBLE
                                          to use the wrong refrigerant.

Since there IS a mixture of the two different types of refrigerant IN our a/c system,
then OBVIOUSLY, it IS POSSIBLE (with adapters).

This fact was verified by the ***** Dealership, which you already noted.

There are a number of online sources talking about people doing this to save money, so OF COURSE IT IS POSSIBLE.
Your statement is flat out wrong.

      2.  It is however illegal to do so in ***************** as it is a violation of Federal Law under Section 203 of the Clean Air Act and is considered tampering with a vehicles emissions control device.

      3.  Since the R134a freon ended up in our car, clearly someone did it and YOU are the only one to work on our car.

      4.   I also believe it would be considered fraud for you to charge us for the more expensive R-****yf refrigerant, then use the cheaper R134a refrigerant.

      5.   Perhaps MOST IMPORTANTLY, we still have the issue of you refusing to repair your work under warranty.
You charged us for a repair that lasted less than one month.  Clearly something was wrong with what you did.  Why did you refuse to even evaluate it?  ********************* at your front desk is beyond condescending, but if a repair lasts less than one month, I would think you would at least look at the car again. Yet, you refused.  Not very professional.

      6.  You mentioned ******** **** recalling cars and retrofitting them back to R134.                                                                                    This is a *****, not a ********.  ***** has not retrofitted THIS car.  YOU did not retrofit THIS car.  THIS car takes R-****yf

      7. The ******** **** recall in 2012 was 11 years ago.
      Emissions standards change over time.
      It is Illegal NOW.

      8.  FROM THE **************************************, which YOU quoted:
RETROFITTING R-****YF MOBILE AIR CONDITIONING SYSTEMS IS PROHIBITED
      ****************************************************************************************************************

Conclusion: If you do not bring a satisfactory solution,
I will pursue any and all legal remedies for the following:
      1.   Failure to repair the air conditioner we paid you for.
      2.   Failure to repair the damage your shop caused.
      3.   Failure to honor your warranty.
      4.   Fraud for charging for the more expensive, environmentally friendly refrigerant ****yf, then using the cheap non-environmentally friendly refrigerant R134.
      5.   Violation of the Federal Law under Section 203 of the Clean Air Act

      Sincerely,

As stated prior we did NOT install 134A in your system. We would have no problem Recharging of your AC again under warranty. As you do have a 3 year nationwide warranty on that service. But if you have a leak it will leak out again. We never charged you for repairing any leaks we only charged you to recharge the system. As for the reference case i wrote to you about the ******** **** recall. They did not retro fit a 134a system to ****yf system they took a ****yf system and replaced the ****yf freon with 134a freon. I only mentioned this to show you that what ***** has said to you is wrong. And we don't think you need a entire new system. We would be happy to take a look at your ac system and see what we can do for you to get this ac working properly. We would also be happy to show you our equipment and you will be able to see why we could not have put 134a freon in using the equipment we have. I understand your upset. and we would be more than willing to help you out the best we can. We want you to be happy with our service. This is how we've stayed in business' for the last 55 years. If you would like to bring the car in Please email me back at ******************************** and I will make sure your car gets priority

I'm sure we can get your ac blowing cold again. We would only need to see the car. It should have florescent die in it since we recharged it already once. This will make it easy to find any leaks  Our ac oil we use has it in it so we can find the leak in situations like yours where the freon leaks out after awhile. If you would like to accept my offer let me Know.

      Thanks

You continue to misstate the issues.

      You said:
But if you have a leak it will leak out again.
               and you stated
we only charged you to recharge the system.

That is FALSE.  You are LYING.
      Read YOUR own receipt.

The issue I came in with was a ****.

YOU diagnosed the **** as needing to replace the A/C service valve. I didn't diagnose it as needing an A/C service valve. I just said the air conditioner stopped working.

Why do you keep LYING, when it is on YOUR own paperwork?

I did not say ******** retrofitted a 134a system to a ****yf system.  No one would want to do that.
STOP trying to cloud the issue.  ******** has nothing to do with this.  What they did 12 years ago has nothing to do with the current Clean Air Act standards.

NOW, you want to look at my car when you refused to look at it before? You flat out refused to fix the problem you caused.

There is no way I would allow you near my car now that you (your front desk guy) have been condescending and adversarial.  There is no way I would allow you near my car now that I caught you LYING AGAIN.

Once again, if you do not bring a satisfactory solution,
I will pursue any and all legal remedies for the following:

On Aug. 18, 2022, we took our 2014 ***** Vnl into Don's D.I. Auto Service for a diagnostic and repairs because our regular mechanic was busy. A day later we approved the following repairs and services: replace 2 air valves, replace heater hoses, lube oil and filter change, replace thermostat, in which we paid $1344.41. On Aug. 26, 2022, 8 days later, we went to pick up the truck. We were told we would have to wait (2 hours) for the oil filter because they had the wrong one sent to them. They also needed to add coolant. Upon leaving the shop the low coolant level came on and since we had a load booked for the day, we topped the coolant off with 3 gallons. We called the shop to let them know and they said it was a possible air pocket and they did not bleed out the system or test drive the truck before handing it over to us. Two weeks later, two hoses were blown underneath the truck. We called the shop to let them know and they said it was not a repair that they had done that caused it and could go look at the truck where it stopped for $200. We called our regular mechanic instead. He noticed that the thermostat and oil filters did not look like they had been changed. Since he had done the previous oil change, he had the invoice for the filters that matched the same ones still on the truck. We called the shop to ask for an invoice for the oil filters and thermostat, but they refused to provide us with one and did not know who they ordered from (for certain). This is a violation of consumer trust, lack of integrity and bad storage of invoices and bookkeeping. It is ours, and our certified diesel mechanics' belief, that the failure to provide the repairs and services by Don's D.I. Auto Service has caused worse damage to the truck, which has now been down for 2 weeks, resulting in loss of wages. Several attempts to handle this situation amicably has resulted in their failure to admit the possibility of any errors. We are asking for a refund and half of lost wages=$3094.41

This vehicle came in on 08/18/20252 after inspection of vehicle it was found that truck needed over $12000 dollars in repairs. Client opted to only to perform a small portion of the repairs needed. We performed a oil change, replace a thermostat, repaired a air leak and repair 2 heater hoses. Client was told at that time that driving the truck in the condition it was in would cause damage to the vehicle. All the other repairs being needed is notated on the 3rd page of this clients invoice they where given and i have attached to this complaint.

After driven the truck **** miles and nearly a month later client comes into shop carrying a broken cooler line for the *** Filter claiming we broke it and we never did anything to his truck. As a curtesy we sent out our mobile service truck to inspect vehicle and see is we could get him going or if it was even something that should be covered by his warranty with us. After inspection it was found that a cooler line for the *** was broken and the *** was on of the components that ***** declined to repair on original estimate from 08/18/22. The cooler line was most likely damaged due to the *** needing replacement and is not something we repaired and would not be covered under his warranty. I have included the 2nd invoice for the service call on 9/12/2022 that states all of this as well.

At this point we do not feel that anything we did contributed to any of the issues this person is having now and in no way should this client be issued a refund of any sort. As to this persons statements that the work was not performed is just untrue. Just because the oil filter is the same color as the pervious one client states was on vehicle dose not in anyway constitutes grounds to state we did not perform the work. These claims are baseless and reckless to state.

I am rejecting this response because:

This dispute was not filed to argue the future needed repairs for the truck. It was filed to seek proof that the actual repairs were done on the vehicle when it was in the shop. Fact #1. Proof that the oil filters were replaced was not provided after making several attempts. I do not need a copy, or to hold the document, an invoice number and the company it was ordered from would suffice. Neither were provided. Fact #2. Immediately after leaving the shop on 8/18/22 we called to let them know that the coolant level was not sufficient and coolant needed to be added. We were told that there could be an air pocket and that the vehicle was not road tested before handing it over to us. Fact #3. The mobile service was not provided for free, per our verbal agreement at the shop, it was in exchange for the "very expensive" flashlight that your mechanic left under the hood. Fact #4. The truck has since been diagnosed by two mechanics, and fixed. It was not the *** system that was clogged, but the intake manifold pressure sensor that needed to be replaced. Conclusion: It is not our intent to slander or defame your company, we had a bad experience with you and were treated horribly as customers. For peace of mind, and for FMCSA maintenance guideline purposes, we would just like to be certain that the repairs we paid for were in fact done. Your unwillingness to cooperate reflects suspiciously and has turned this into a larger situation than it should be.

      Sincerely,

      ***************************

As a policy We do not give out internal Company purchase orders

But the Oil filter used on the truck would be a ******* Filter most likely part # BF7614. This is a stocked item so i'm not sure what the exact part # used was. sometimes they supersede the part #s. We buy filters in bulk. This is something the Tech would match up in inventory while performing the repair

      Thermostat was purchased from ***** at 11:15AM on 8/25/22 part # ********

The heater hose used was generic bulk heater hose. This is also something the Tech would pull from inventory

The Air Fitting used are a general air line couplers and would have come from our Air Brake master fitting kit.

Everything other that the thermostat are externally located on the truck and can be easily seen from under the hood if client would like they are welcome to bring truck in and we would be happy to show them all the work that was performed by us.

I live in CA and took a trip to Las Vegas. While on my trip I had an issue with my rear break caliper. I came across an add that advertised a free tow as long as you decided to get your vehicle fixed at the same shop. So I went for it. We had the cat towed there on the 21st of June. I call him the next day and he gives me an estimate of 890 dollars. Outrageous. I am a mechanic myself, and I know what the problem with my car was and something wasn't adding up. So a few days go by as I am trying to get some money together. I go into his shop. He was trying to replace things thst didn't need replaced and tried charging me for a lot more labor then it called for. So when I got upset with him and asked him to please stop trying to overcharge me I then let it be known what I know about the book of estimates. He was slightly taken back because I knew what I was talking about. He also charged me twice as much for parts. Then he painted my old rotor and break caliper but charged me for new ones

These statements are just untrue and totally unfair. Also bordering on defamatory

1: We actually charged less than the book time for the work performed. AllDAta Book time for this job is 2.0 hours we charged 1.5

2: We would never paint parts and re install old parts. We keep all parts for customers inspection for 30 days and still have all the parts that where replaced on this persons vehicle. If She would like to see them She is welcome to come on in and pick them up or We would also be happy to ship them to her if she wants to pay the shipping.

3: We did not charge double on the parts. We actually charged less than retail price. Retail price on the caliper is $218.60 we charged $190.67 and the rotor retails for $92.81 we charged $85.53. This can easily be verified by calling any ***********
On top of all of this we also paid for the tow bill into the shop at no charge to Her.

All of this repair needed was caused by someone prior to us working on the car and not tightening the rear caliper bolts properly. This persons caliper was falling off the car. We also recommended that this person replace both rear brakes at the same time as it is best to replace brakes as a pair not just one at a time. She refused that part of the service. We do not see any reason to refund any moneys to this person. We performed all the work contracted for which carry's a 2 year ***** mile warranty nation wide with free road side assistance for any reason even if its not related to our repair.
