5/3/24 car broke down had towed to repair shop down the street from where I live. Just replaced radiator 9 days prior and spark plugs. Ralph, owner told me the exhaust was leaking from hitting something hard [I bought the car in January]...I never hit anything...he said the timing belt was worn, water pump, power steering pump, oil leaked into plugs, and I requested an oil change. We asked that he not change cabin filter, leave exhaust leak ($800). We had no idea what kind of charges we were looking at until the car was done. We were shocked. He flushed the coolant in the new radiator ($75) which had just been done (we told him this beforehand). He replaced the cabin filter ($46.88) after we asked him not to and he price gouged us on parts quite extensively. He charged $1,163.78 [parts] [NOT EVEN OEM PARTS!] I priced the same parts and my total is $421.56 plus oil, antifreeze and power steering fluid [which would hardly be over $125]. At $546.56 w/all fluids, that's still a difference of $617.22. The labor charges are about average to high on the dealer side, but they appear not to be too overly inflated, per se. I priced all the parts at PartGeek.com (most of which are OE exact) and can be shipped out next day. The shop had the car four days so parts could have easily been ordered. I have read that shops are notorious for parts price gouging, but we can't even tell if he replaced the water pump when we paid for the part or any hoses or gaskets with the parts. When we got the car back it had a whine when accelerating. He claimed not to hear it. He also says the parts & labor are warranted but there's no indication of this on the invoice. We found that one main hose had leaked coolant all over the housing & radiator and that was causing the whine. He didn't even open the hood. I doubt he would honor any warranty on parts or labor, from my impression of him. The $2,500 was all we had saved. We are an older couple and social security doesn't pay much plus we've only had the car three months, having paid $5,000 for it from a dealer. I have the work order if you'd like a copy. We would like a refund of the difference between his charges for parts and what we found the same parts to be priced at [amount reflected hereinabove]. Thank you.

Ralph has had my brand-new 2016 jeep Cherokee for 7 months. I bought it in May 2022. Everytime he fixes something it isn't done right or something else goes wrong with the vehicle. It supposedly has a new motor, new transmission, new catalytic converters, sensors, battery's and oil pan etc. It is still is throwing engine codes & as of this week the car was taken to jeep dealership because Ralph couldn't get the check engine light off. the jeep dealership said the new catalytic converter was welded on instead of being bolted at the flange & the O2 sensor was cross threaded into the new catalytic converter. The car lot fox preowned is the one that has all copy's of supposed receipts that I haven't seen or been sent & has been paying for the repairs from this mechanic under my car warranty. Well since jeep charges 200 a hour in labor Steve at Fox preowned took the car back to Ralph at America's automotive to put in the new O2 sensor without addressing the new catalytic converter being welded on & the O2 sensor being cross threaded in . This mechanic Ralph has no idea what he's doing on this jeep it shouldn't take 7 months to fix a car I bought in May I've been very polite & patient but this has taken it's toll on me. I'm making payments, paying insurance on a car I don't have.
