date of transaction:11/19/24 this complaint is regarding excessive charges that were not disclosed to me. the same company had provided simple repairs before and charged what I considerate acceptable amounts. I trusted they would do the same, this is a small town. Roto-Rooter claims transparency.I was charged $1,546.13 for a water heater replacement FOR LABOR ONLY. the water heater and all parts were purchased by me. the whole job took about three hours; there were no complications. about a third of the time to pick up the parts I had purchased from REMOVED- and I would have had delivered, had they told me it would essentially cost me about $500/hour. again, this is a small town, REMOVEDis 10mins from my house by REMOVEDmaps. The last time I hired a licensed plumber for the same job, this house, the charge was less than $300, and they picked the parts up also. I knew this was not a complicated job.I emailed the Customer Satisfaction Manager listed on the website, REMOVED, did not receive a response. I wrote to the local manager, did not receive a response.I have paid $400

      Business Response

      Date: 10/28/2025

Verbal Response - Consumer was provided with the billing information prior to services via recorded phone call. We let her know that everything was recorded prior to disputes and after. She had called after services were rendered and trying to negotiate prices, and said that she was financially strapped etc. Explained to her that unfortunately we do not do payment plans, and this was explained to her prior to booking. She then became verbally combative with staff. Claiming she would dispute. She made a good faith payment of $250.00 and said that is all we were getting out of her. Total bill was $1,546.13. At this point she is written as do not service in our system and the remaining balance of REMOVEDis being written off.

      Better Business Bureau:

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID REMOVED, and find that this resolution is satisfactory to me.

Regarding the comment on the reply from the business: I thanked them during the phone call for being willing to settle with the amount I could afford, and also in writing when I mailed in the payment. I spoke calmly on the phone at all times. I was not provided with billing information prior to services, or I would not have hired the company. That is what happened.

I sincerely apologize for not cancelling the complaint at the BBB as soon as a settlement was agreed upon.

      Regards,
      REMOVED
