      Let me preface this by saying I am an executive with 40 years in healthcare, 20 running health plans, and 20 advocating for hospitals and medical groups for their relationships with health plans. When I retired, I signed up with ****** for ********. It was a terrible experience. Multiple services were denied, which resulted in scorching letters to their CEO, the ************************ and ***. I prevailed in all my disputes. My wife signed up under the Health Insurance Marketplace. I have filed more appeals for her in three years than I have otherwise filed in my entire life. ****** erroneously adjudicates claims, and they require multiple appeals, including to regulators, before reversing their decisions. It is interesting to note that the errors are always in their favor. My wife soon begins ******** and she will be dumping BCBSNM. I mentioned my background at the beginning because the plans I managed had high satisfaction ratings, and when working for a hospital, we recovered $43 million in short payments by several insurance companies. I know how things should work, and ****** does not operate correctly and with integrity. I would score negatively if possible.

      NOBODY TAKES THIS INSURANCE. And it over rides my medicar so now I have to pay out of pocket. What a scam

      Life long Blue Cross member but New Mexico was nothing short of wreckless, careless, unprofessional, and abusive.In 2023 my clinic submitted paperwork for approval and after 2 weeks I called to find out only half the paperwork was approved so it just sat. When I call the clinic they escalated it and within an hour the rest was approved so the hardware could be delivered.This year the identical paperwork was submitted by a different clinic and after 2 weeks I called because I had ZERO confidence after last year. After **** on hold 15 minutes as the agent tried to track down the status I was hung upon. I guess they could ot effectively do their job. So I called back only to get hung up on with no reply. That's when management got involved to figure what was going on.At this point I have over 13 grand from surgery due at the hospital I cab only imagine how I'm going to be abused over this one.Unfortunately care like this is rampant through the New Mexico medical systems. How I was verbally attacked and mistreated at the hospitals and the abusive care is third world Do yourself a favor and just steer clear of the entire state it is an embarrassment on this country and it the people living there that make it that way.Date of experience: March 15, 2024

      BCBS is one of the worst organizations I have ever dealt with. I was assured that once my Out of Network Out-Of-Pocket was met, that all claims in this category would be covered. I was assured of this multiple times, by multiple representatives. However, after I met this threshold last year, I submitted a few large claims in this category. Somehow they wound up cutting me a check for a little over $200 total. No representative was able to explain to me why my expenses weren't covered fully. Having to pay monthly for insurance that is worthless is a really miserable feeling.

      I would put zero stars if possible. I have worked for a provider for over 10 years in NM and **** of NM is by far the absolute worst insurance company EVER. Impossible to get assistance with credentialing, their customer ********************** people think they know about claims when they do not work with claims and are not credentialed and will try and tell you that you are wrong when documented proof states otherwise. They LIE. They will "pre-authorize" a service only to deny it stating no pre-authorization was obtained even though we submit documented PROOF otherwise via the appeal process (which is a joke because they are supposed to come to a decsion in 30 days and that has never happened). Then they call and talk nasty to us when we bill the patient and the patient signed an Advance Notice of Non-Coverage WHICH IS ALLOWED PER THEIR PROVIDER MANUAL. We are seriously considering no longer being in network with them and just self pay the **** of NM patients at a lower charge. They are unprofessional, scammers and liars. Just a head up on what you will have to deal with if you are a provider. Consider NOT being in network, you would probably make MORE money that way.

      BCBS can come back after you for ANY service that BCBS has already approved and paid out forever. Yes, you read that right, FOREVER. They have no statute of limitations on the time limit that BCBS has to audit their books and then if they deem it necessary, they can make the doctor ***** them. That, in return, forces the doctor to go after you for the entire amount owed to the doctors office. This is literally a license to steal. BCBS customer ********************** is awful. I sit on hold with them for hours every time I call. BCBS of NM is probably the worst choice for health care in the state of NM.....
