Contacted on 5/7/24 and threatened with Legal Action if I did not respond by the end of the day. Upon calling the number they refused to give me any information about who they are until I provided them with my personal information. No case number was provided to me in the message. I was told by the person I spoke with that it was a recorded line and they don't care if I report them or not and hung up the phone when I requested to be removed from their calling list.

Contacted me threatening to freeze my checking account for a debt that was allegedly incurred 16 years ago. I have no knowledge of this debt, I have not received anything via mail from this organization and they refused to mail me proof of this debt when I asked them to. They were rude, degrading and threatened me multiple times with wage garnishment, court proceedings and freezing my checking account.

I keep getting calls about them trying to collect a debt that was charged off that I have no knowledge of even owing. I was trying to get information regarding the account and was told I was a jobless delinquent who doesn't pay my bills and hung up on. I tried to call back several times and kept getting hung up on by a worker by the name of Angela M*****. She refused to transfer me to a supervisor after I refused to talk to her anymore because of how she spoke on the phone to me. She ended up hanging up on me when I asked for information about the account and the company for my own attorney.

These scammers called me via a robo dial claiming a legal action is pending and I was to call them to put my statement on the record. If I did not I would miss that opportunity. That is a total misrepresentation of how the law works.

They are by law supposed to notify me in writing or any impending litigation. At that time i would have the opportunity to respond directly to the court. They have not sent me ANYTHING in writing nor do they represent me in any fashion to take my statement and submit my statement to a court or anyone else.

When I called back I was hung up on every time I asked for the name of the company. On the 5 call I was given the name but was still hung up on when I told them the call was being recorded.

I continued to call back requesting a supervisor and was again hung up on. I finally got a supervisor and he too hung up when I said the call was being recorded.

Nevada is a one party state, I did not have to notify them of recordings. More interested in how they would react. Only scammers and those using illegal tactics hang up. I am also reporting them to both the state and federal attorney general’s offices and the FTC. If I find an attorney on their staff I will be contacting the state bar as well.

I was contacted by a collections agency on behalf of Hartman Weber for a debt from 2010. I was given contact info for Hartman Weber and was never contacted by them directly, I had to contact them to discuss the e issue. Hesitantly, I settled with them over the phone. I settled and paid the debt on 2/13/24. Since then I have repeatedly been called stating I have not paid the debt, and they now are calling themselves Westgate. They keep threatening a summons to go to court if I don’t pay, even though I have receipt of payment via their paid in full letter emailed to me, and my credit card statement. They would not accept an email or any form of my proof, and said they would launch an investigation. It feels very predatory and like a scam at this point.

I was called by this company saying I owed ***** ***** $892 from a closed account from 17 years ago. The company claimed this debt must be paid over the phone at a discounted rate. They have all my personal information including my social security. I called ***** ***** and spoke to the dispute division and they show no records of me owing any funds to them. This company appears to be a scam trying to steal money from people.

I have been repeatedly called by this “business” claiming to represent ***** ***** **** and claiming that I owe almost $900 on an overdrafted account. They had the last four of my social, which is super concerning. I contacted the bank directly and confirmed that I did not owe them any money.

    Customer Answer

Unfortunately, I have not been able to find a viable physical address for them either. The address they sent went to a building in Albuquerque that has no record of them there. I was sent a document to sign to approve a credit card charge from the email address [email protected]. (To be clear, after going through several channels I was able to confirm I did not owe Fifth Third money, so I didn’t approve the charge.) They called me from multiple Albuquerque, New Mexico phone numbers, but the one they list on that document as well is ************* The person who claimed to be my case manager was going by the name ******** ********. I hope this helps in some way!

Contacted today from a phone number of *** *** ****. They claim I have a account that was charged off in 2012. I contacted Bank and they showed me no such thing. Biggest problem I have besides threatening to sue me is they HAD MY ENTIRE S.S. #. I gave them no information and they had all kinds of information on me. Put a freeze on my credit checks to be safe. Looked up these guys name while I was talking to them and comes up BBB fraud alert first thing. ******* *** ****** if not legit needs to be tracked down and shut down.

This debt is very well past the Statute of limitations for collectable debts, I request that this debt be closed with a zero balance, because the statute of limitations have passed. The statute of limitations for an open type of credit having a revolving balance in the state of Kentucky, where the account was closed is, 5 years. This organization has a history of attempting to fraudulent collect from debts as per what is on the Better Business Bureau. This organization is clearly in Breach of 1692 g(b) which states "Collector must cease collection efforts until debt is validated. However this debt cannot be validated, because it ceased being validated during the year of 2013 when the statute of limitations had ended.
