In early 2023 I hired ** who is the owner of this company to do an addition for me. The job was quoted a price of $400K and a time frame of 8 months. Upon agreeing to a price he requested 20K deposit. We had not obtained permits yet but shortly after he asked for another $80K saying it was needed to order windows, he also advised that I do not tell the architect that we were ordering them. At one point I gave a check for 200K to put toward the project .It was around then work on my project seemed to really slow down. In November of 2023 my husband passed away. Two weeks later ** called for a meeting where he advised my money was used on other jobs and he had none to complete my job. He asked for another 50K and two weeks later or so another 18K. After that I stopped seeing **'s workers at my house. If they did come it would be late in the afternoon for a couple hours. Sometimes no one would come for weeks on end. I needed to buy some wood shelters for some feral cats during this time as well and ** advised he knew someone who could get. I gave him a check for around ******* but he never bought the sheds because I still do not have them after 8 months. He would tell me they were at his friends yard. Unfortunately that is just one of the many lies. I have text messages from him acknowledging he misused my money and would pay me back. I have since hired a new contractor and found out that most of the work ** did was not to code or done so poorly it would not last. I told him he is responsible for anything I have to pay to have redone and my money he used on other jobs He seemed compliant in the beginning but now is no longer responding at all. I have proof of everything I am saying. I am seeking ********** so I can redo the work he did and then get the job finished. It has been well over a year. This contractor lied about his experience. He should not have a builders lic. He did things that were not even to code.
