My mother bought a bond with Hennion & Walsh. The full bond was escheated without even a phone call. There was a *** on the bond so it should have never happened. After a year of many phone calls and paperwork to the ******************* in ******** the base price was returned to her. In the process she lost a lot of money! The broker, *****************************, that sold her the bond did not offer to help her get her money back. He took no responsibility for the fact that there was a *** on the bond. This is just criminal. I would not use this company. They are friendly when selling a bond but will not take responsibility for customers after the fact.

This individual was not a client of Hennion and Walsh, Inc. The Firm rejects the characterizations made by this individual. On behalf of Hennion & Walsh, Inc., we strive to provide superior service to all of our customers and will provide assistance to them as much as possible under the circumstances.
Regarding escheatment generally, escheatment of property is a state action governed by state law. Escheatment does not occur without notice. A state’s escheatment process is not impacted by the type of account – for example whether an account is titled as Transfer on Death (TOD). Property which is escheated by a state can be reclaimed by the owner upon the filing of the state specified paperwork. Hennion and Walsh, Inc. has no control over state law or an individual state's escheatment process.
    Thank you.

I appreciate the response from Hennion & Walsh Inc. The client that had her bond escheated was ***** *******. She was a client of Hennion & Walsh Inc.
I have looked into the process and Colorado Law. I am aware of the process and just want people to know this can happen. The Colorado Treasury Department acknowledged that a bond with a TOD should not have been escheated. Perhaps ***** ***** should have caught that mistake? I was not contacted. I am the TOD recipient. I did request a copy of the letter from ***** ***** that ***** never received. I will also be contacting ***** ***** due to $1,679.99 in funds that were not returned after a long time consuming process. It would be a courtesy to your clients to call them and make sure they understand that their funds are going to be taken. I hope this will encourage more due diligence on your part in the future.
