On 1/26/21, I accepted a proposal from Q&R Home Improvements for a rear deck extension/repairs. The agreement was signed with the knowledge that this project would be started as soon as possible and completed within a reasonable time. The agreement clearly stated Q&R Home Improvements would be responsible for acquiring all permits & inspections. The agreement stated 3 payments would be made: 1/3 when agreement was signed, 1/3 upon completion of footing inspection, & 1/3 at completion of project. March 24th the project was started. The owner would disappear for weeks without completing any work. I would call/ text him many times only to get a response that he would call me later on in the day. This call hardly occurred. When I did get in touch with him he has many excuses including that it was too hot. The decking used was not the decking in the agreement. He took down an aluminum fence around the pool & put up a temp fence that is not safe. I need this job to be completed ASAP.Initial Complaint

I hired Robert, the owner, because he’s a licensed contractor. He promised to fix my windows and his contractors completed 80% of the work. However, I paid in full, as Robert promised he would complete the work. I called repeatedly to ask for an update; however he blocked my number.Business response

I am rejecting this response because: there are 3 windows remaining. He never came for a final inspection, so he doesn’t know if the job is completed or not. He took my money and did not complete the job.

- On April 20, 2021 we contracted Q&R Home Improvement LLC, ****** *******, ** ****** ***., ******* ****, NJ ***** to install screens to our existing porch. After coming over and looking at the job, ****** stated that this was a small job requiring about 2 hours of labor. The materials would cost about $800.00. The entire job would cost $2,000.00. He would type up a proposal and email it over to me (which he did). We provided him with a check for $1,000.00 on April 20, 2021. A signed proposal for the job was emailed to us on April 23, 2021. As of this date no work has been done and no materials h*** provided to us.

I gave $3000 deposit for a deck job. As it turned out my association told me I could not get a deck. Robert at Q&R told me he could not refund my money because he “already spent it” I went through a huge remediation process with *********** where Robert is listed and after much paperwork and back and forth “testifying” they ruled that he owed me my refund of $3000 in full. I accepted payments from him to be nice, but to this day he renegged and still owes me $750. He wanted me to sign something saying that I would never write anything bad about him but I refused because what he did was completely wrong. he never did any work, took my money and spent it on ? I dont know, it wasn’t anything to do with my project. I just want my $750 remaining balance back and potential customers should know he is crooked. He asked me for more time due to COVID, I gave it to him, but now he has not been answering my calls or texts, this is why there is a delay in filing complaint, I was being nice/patientBusiness response
