I am writing unfortunately regarding a fraud case in which I was personally a victim of along with several others in Ocean, Monmouth, and Middlesex counties. Specifically, Max S. of Max Improvements LLC admittedly used funds designated for home improvement projects to gamble on online gaming platforms as well as pay other personal expenses such as credit card debt and vacations.

It should be noted, Stein provided a statement to me as well as other victims, associates, and employees that he has been gambling excessively. Ultimately draining his business accounts, personal accounts, and lines of credit. Thus, S.was unable to complete home improvement projects he was contractually obligated to, unable to refund homeowners, and also unable to pay his own subcontractors and employees.

Stein did complete a portion of the work on our project in particular. However, it was learned after the fact, the laborers and subcontractors who performed this work were not paid for their labor as promised despite me providing Max a total of $140,500.

Additionally, it was learned Max Improvements LLC insurance had lapsed due to non-payment by Max S. Thus, crews were working on my project and others uninsured despite S. advertising he is a licensed, insured, and BBB accredited contracting company as per his website.

    S.  later admitted he never purchased materials with our money as promised and instead consistently moved money around from different clients in order to fund his lavish lifestyle and feed his addictions.

Stein stated to me and others this was a direct result of his "gambling addiction relapse."
