I was a former tenant at an IronState building (* ************ ***** #***, *******, NJ *****). IronState is a bad actor; upon move out, IronState has sent me to a collections agency with a $641 "debt" for "stains/damages" which do not exist, and with no evidence or adherence to terms in the lease agreement.

The alleged damages are a depressed carpet after moving furniture (couches, desks, chairs) that had been in place for nearly three years; the carpet remaining depressed at that time in those specific spots very obviously constitutes "reasonable use and wear and tear" and "damages by the elements excepted", as stipulated in Section 17 ("Surrender of Premises") of the lease agreement.

Further, we were never provided a "Move-In Inspection Report" per Section 5 ("Condition of Premises") of the lease agreement. We've returned it in far better condition than what was provided in July 2020.

We hired a professional cleaning service to prepare the apartment for surrender; over nearly three years we always paid on time and caused no issues. We've already paid a $1,000 lease termination fee and covered an additional $2,300+ in additional rent for each day of inoccupancy before the new tenants moved in. We just want to move on and find it unethical and dishonest for IronState to attempt to charge tenants to cover expected apartment turnover operating costs.
