This is in reference to previous BBB complaint ID #********. I received a message that this was delivered to Meridia Main ********** and not *********** ** so I am resubmitting the complaint. On the morning of June 6th 2022 my fianc and myself applied for a two bedroom and one bathroom apartment at Meridias *************** location. We had toured this apartment a few weeks earlier and decided to move forward with it. On their website the apartment we wanted was listed with an apply now button saying that it was available. We spent $95 each on the application. Almost immediately we received an email that our background check went through and at 11:07 AM we received a text stating we were approved for the apartment and contact them to go over the lease. We set up time immediately to go over the lease and at that point we were informed that the apartment we applied for was actually not available and we were offered less then accommodating alternatives that did not fit our needs. When asked why was it available the person we were dealing with (*****) told us that someone beat us to it and that there is nothing he could do. Being that the apartment was never available to us I asked for our money back to which he laughed and said he will not issue any sort of refund and that we could take one of the less accommodating rooms. He claims that someone beat us to the room and got approved first yet they still let us apply and took our money. This was a blatant bait and switch. Our last conversation ended with ***** laughing at me and hanging up on me when I mentioned contacting the BBB. In short, they had a room available online and took our application money only to call us and tell us it was never available.
