    Leased apartment for thirteen months at "The M at Morristown" that is part of the Silverman Group. Received security deposit refund check on August 1st, 2025 and the check was written on July 25th, 2025.
    Upon receipt, I emailed ***** ****** and management AND sent certified mail regarding unwarranted charges for the security deposit refund.
    There were two walls noted by management that needed repair to justify keeping $250. See pictures of the walls she sent pictures of. I had five pictures in the entire apartment and spackled myself. According to the State of *** ******, this is normal wear and tear.
    ***** ****** with management stated they had to repair those two walls along with several other walls. Essentially, I was charged to repaint the entire apartment that was left in immaculate condition.
    The security deposit was $750 and I was refunded $258.07.
    I took off the $61 water bill, $15 renter's insurance, $150 for month to month. The return security deposit should have been $523.07.

    The customer experience information provided is not
    factually accurate. Tenant failed to leave his apartment in the required
    condition and has breached contract with Landlord. The complaint is being made
    in bad faith by Tenant in an attempt to harass and disparage the company and
    its employees. This will be resolved by court action and as such is beyond the
    types of disputes that the BBB generally handles. Kindly close the matter and
    remove the inaccurate and disparaging information from public distribution.

    I am rejecting this response because the information I provided is factually accurate. The contract was not breached. The apartment was immaculate and following is your management response in quotation marks. Following is exact excerpt from management.  "along with the painting of several other walls where scuff marks were left." Management sent two pictures not "several". I have supporting documentation. 

    "While
    a small number of nail holes are permitted, the wall repairs and touch up paint
    for which you were charged were for areas larger than a small nail hole. For
    example, one area of a wall was spackled in an attempt to repair the wall but
    required additional work by our team to restore the wall to its original
    condition. There was also a second area of a wall where paint appeared to have
    been peeled away, maybe by tape or something that had been stuck to the wall. I
    have attached photos of both areas to which I am referring. These areas both
    required repair and repainting, along with the painting of several other walls
    where scuff marks were left. I hope this helps to clarify the charge of $250
    deducted from our security deposit."

    My company, West Logistics, leased a building owned by the Silverman Group in *******, **. At the end of our lease (12/31/23) we requested a return of our security deposit, which Silverman Group (based out of **********) has refused to return and has not provided any documentation supporting their position. We've attempted to contact local representatives in ************** multiple times over the last 4 months and have received ZERO response...absolute silence. We've contacted the Silverman Group corporate offices in ********** and they are stonewalling behind legal counsel. We've contacted Silverman Group legal counsel, yet no progress is being made toward resolution. We understand BBB doesnt get involved in collecting monies...and we are not asking you to facilitate a collections process. What we are asking is for you to intervene and assist us in obtaining an explanation of charges and, if warranted, a refund of security deposit. We believe this is exactly the type of incident for the BBB given the unprofessional business practices of the Silverman Group, including months and months of blatantly ignoring calls and e-mails and refusing to engage in good-faith discussions to settle a dispute. We also want our complaint to be formally documented in order to warn potential tenants of the Silverman Group about the horrendous customer service they may encounter should they choose to do business with Silverman Group. We look forward to hearing from you.

    The filed complaint does not meet requirements of the Better Business Bureau's complaint acceptance guidelines. Marketplace issues do not include complaints with abusive or harassing language.
