      July 8, 2021 I took my BMW X5 for it's oil change. The mechanic who performed the oil change had an emotional outburst, swearing and throwing tools around. The oil pan drain plug had been stripped so the oil change was not able to be performed. I was told to give the district manager Jesus a call to figure out next steps. Jesus asked me to return to Jiffy Lube immediately, the store manager Bob would be meeting me there to fix the issue. Bob had done the previous oil change back in September of 2020. Bob spent a couple hours trying to get the bolt off, he was on the phone with someone most of the duration. He finally got it off, stated he put a new bolt in it and I was good to go. The car started dumping oil and I brought to my mechanic, the pan needed to be replaced. Jesus insists on having possession of the oil pan before putting in a claim. He believes I could have re-tapped the pan, this was not permanent option per my mechanic, pan is too thin for re-threading so pan was replaced.

We then requested the damaged parts for inspection, which the customer declined to provide. I would be more then glad to continue with the claim, but I would need the parts. Jesus, Whatever you had asked my mechanic was something I was not involved in. As for inspecting the part, I absolutely will allow you to visually inspect the part. What I wont allow is for you to retain the part, alter the part in any way or take the part into your possession. Jiffy Lube has already failed to provide me with the written email stating the events that happened that day, along with that days resolution performed by your technician. Jiffy Lube also failed to provide me upon my request with the stripped drain plug. Business Response /* (4000, 12, 2021/09/08) */ We would need the old parts, we would then verify that a re-tap of the pan was either applicable or not in this case. Like I said before, I would be happy to allow you to visually inspect the part. There would be no need for me to leave the part in your possession. Re-tapping is a band-aid fix with a BMW. There are no aftermarket parts on my BMW. If you call a BMW service advisor they will tell you that re-tapping may work until the next oil change but it is not something that they guarantee or likely to perform. Your tech was negligent by using a air gun on the drain plug to begin with. I brought my vehicle in for a simple oil change and left with a huge repair bill and now your opting to play games on whether or not you're liable because of the cost of the appropriate repair. Let me know if you would like me to schedule a time with Bob to view the part again. I would be happy to do so. If not, I will be moving forward with opening a legal claim for this and my mechanic that performed the work to replace the pan will be joining me.
