I gave this company my taxes to do. I sent them in March 2024 for them to be done before tax day April 15 2024 - ************ from ************** bought out my old tax people & combined the busisness. They didnt not inform me before I sent my taxes to them and these people sat on my taxes - now I owe $140 of penalties before I even got my return filed because they combined businesses in the middle of tax season, did not tell the clients and it took me 5 months of constants emails & numerous phone calls from July to November to get them to finally finish my taxes. Then they asked me for $500 For late taxes when last year I paid $300. I called them back saying I will not pay more then $250 and ***** Dolce laughed at me and told me to get them done somewhere else. I dont believe paying these people for extremely late services beyond the rate I paid last year, which were done on time. Now I have to find someone else to file them & will have more penalties. I hope they arent s******* over tons of people who are just desperate to get their taxes done. Im asking the company to pay me $150 for the penalties I have gotten because they decided the waste my time. I know the *** gives one penalty redemption, but Im in my early 30s and I dont want to use this for a mistake/complete lack of respect this company provided.

    Business Response

    Date: 12/04/2024

    Dear *******,

Thank you for your email and opportunity to respond.

I spoke with *** ****** on Monday, November 25 about his personal return, as well as our tax preparation fee.  He shared he was not able to pay our fee and asked that we reduce it, which we did to an adjusted rate *** ****** and I agreed to on that call.

Prior to November 25, our firm contacted *** ****** on several occasions to gain additional information from him so that we could reduce his tax burden; we also followed up continuously when there was no response.  We were able to successfully reduce *** ******* tax burden once he returned our calls and emails.  **************** was provided his tax return,we followed up via phone calls and email asking he review his return, sign the return and pay our invoice so we could e-file for him.

On Monday, December 2, *** ****** contacted our firm and asked for a return call by one of the partners. I contacted *** ****** soon after his message.  He asked to have his girlfriend speak on his behalf and before I could respond she jumped on the call and shared her discontent in a raised voice.  She demanded we reduce the fee to $250 or she would report our company to Yelp.  I shared with her, as I did with *** ****** that we already reduced the rate nearly 30%.  She continued to raise her voice and I shared that we spent a significant amount of time preparing *** ******* return to ensure the best outcome, to which she once again raised her voice and then hung up the phone.

I spoke to my partners after the phone call to which we agreed to reduce our fee to the requested $250 (nearly 50% original invoice) so that *** ******* return could be e-filed as soon as he reviewed and signed the return.  I sent an email agreeing to the additional discount requested on the earlier call and we did not receive a response back from *** ******.

It is important to note that this complaint was made by ********** girlfriend, who is not a client of ours nor a partner on *** ******* return.  It is also important to note that *** ****** signed an engagement letter with our firm on March 20, 2024 which outlines our fees and agreements for preparing his tax return.

Many thanks again for your time.

    Warmly,

    ***** Dolce
