I became aware that an account for my minor child was turned over to collections in my husband's name and called the office to discuss. Although I had signed the consent for treatment and specifically listed myself as the guarantor for the account, I had never received a bill. Somehow, my husband's information was placed in the acct. i called the office approximately 6 weeks ago and spoke with Jaci and she acknowledged that it was an error. She took my credit card payment for the balance in full and then said she would call the collection agency and report the error and the payment in full the following day and then call me. I never heard back and assumed it was taken care of until it again was reported to my husband's credit bureau this week. I called the collection agency and initially they couldn't find the account and then said they were not notified of a payment, so I then called and left two messages with no returned call from Capehart Dental. In calling the collection agency again, they said Jaci from the dental office just called today to report that the debt had been "settled" (not correct) with no mention of the error. In reaching Jaci later in the day, she said they are "short staffed" and "have people out sick", that they are behind in payment posting and that the payment made over a month ago had not been posted or reported to the agency but that it's "now been taken care of." This still remains an issue and the collection agency agrees that this was still not reported correctly and will continue to impact the credit report.

I recommend getting a second opinion for any work they want to do. I hope sharing my experience helps future patients avoid unnecessary pain and pricey bills. In April 2023 I went in for a routine cleaning and the dr recommended an old filling from a prior dental office be replaced, even though I didn't have any issues with said tooth. I thought it was odd but decided to listen to the dr because I'm not a dental health expert. In May 2023 I had the filling done and that evening something felt off- hot/cold sensitivity, inflammation, throbbing pain that spread along my jaw and led to headaches. After my second follow up at Capehart, a different dr referred me to a specialist for a root canal. I regret getting work done because it resulted in 2 months of pain, several dental visits, a root canal, and now a crown.

Laura, I am happy to hear that you were able to complete your root canal procedure. I did review your history with us and found that we were able to get you in very quickly to address your post operative pain and offer a referral if needed so I'm sorry to hear that you were in pain for so much longer after you switched dentists. The reason the fillings were recommended to be redone was because there was decay around the old fillings and a new cavity in between another tooth. Leaving cavities untreated is not the way we treat patients, even if the cavities don't hurt at the time. It does happen that teeth respond poorly to new fillings, even if everyone is perfect during the procedure. It it afterall a surgery on your tooth. We wish you the best of luck with your oral health and your new dentist!
