I dropped my 1999 Suzuki DR200 SE off to the Kevin Powell Motorsports location in Greensboro, NC approximately 4 weeks prior to receiving the repaired motorcycle on 7/28/23 with a charge of $584.44. Upon receiving the motorcycle on 7/28/23, the bike was in running condition after the ****** carburetor was rebuilt and cleaned. After approximately 3 weeks the bike would not start and it was clear that after the carburetor was rebuilt the bike was filled with bad gas and no fuel stabilizer, which returned the carburetor to the same poor condition I dropped it off to Kevin Powell Motorsports to have repaired. I've owned 12 motorcycles over the last 30 years, every one of which utilized carburetor(s), none were fuel injected and so I'm very familiar with this type of repair. My 1997 Yamaha Virago 535 had the dual ****** carburators rebuilt 10 years ago and can sit for over a year with proper fuel and stabilizer without any issues starting the bike. 3 months after the service, I reached out to Kevin Powell Motorsports to see if they could address the issue and I dropped the bike off because I wasn't happy with their service. They properly diagnosed that the gas was bad and wanted to charge me ~$200 diagnostic fee for doing so. I didn't pay this charge and explained to them that my bike was returned in working order with bad gas, so I felt like this should be a quality assurance issue for them rather than trying to charge me additional fees. The reason I couldn't get the bike to them for 3 months was because I travel on business frequently and didn't have the opportunity to do so directly after discovering the issue approximately 3 weeks after receiving the repaired bike. I have since purchased an aftermarket carburetor for $36.28, installed it myself, and the bike is running properly. All original receipts from Kevin Powell Motorsports and for the replacement carburetor are attached for reference. I'm seeking a refund for this transaction, labor only would be sufficient since they did have to purchase a carburetor repair kit for $41.95 and a spark plug for $4.99.
